@@jonmakesbeats My brother I went right to the comments to tell you, I can see you've slimmed down in the face. Keep it going brother great work as always! Congrats on making it happen
5:41 was absolutely ridiculous with that vinyl-esque tempo switch-up. Reminds me of the transition in The Come Up from part 1 to 2. What a potent brew of sounds.
Really appreciate your creativity and music. I can't tell you how many times I've listened to That's OK. Anyways, you're the man. Keep doin' what you're doin'.
Are you doing the maintenance on the Tascam yourself? Have a couple reel to reel and a multitrack cassette recorder but I haven’t pulled the trigger on one of those yet because I wouldn’t even really know where to start if it broke… demagnetizing and cleaning is the extent of my knowledge. I have substituted using a 2 track reel 2 reel paired with a vintage Tascam M-30 so I’m sure the sound I’m getting is pretty damn close but these things just feel like recording in the golden age of music making…
With the new Digitakt 2 released I feel more comfortable following in your footsteps and getting myself a Octarack 2 knowing there’s no Mk3 on the horizon 😂
I wanna say it's drone camera. or something meant to give such disoriented feel because we don't look at thangs dat way. plus I think he has the camera upside down in dat angle too.
Jon I come to your channel for self-therapy. Nothing wrong with me. Just come here to feel like music is fun, easy and everything will be alright. you know?
You’ve got a lot of gear, but generally see you going to Octatrack and that synth. Do you find much use for the other hardware? Is it day job related? Thanks for the awesome vid
May I ask how many tracks you're recording to the 388? Not just 2 right? Dope stuff. Have a similar setup except w a 60/ 950 setup and we've been using Vestax MR-66 or other cassette 4-tracks to warm up. Have the 388 though that we need to sell and/or use. Would like to use the 950/60 sends and track out our beats is why I'm asking.
Am I the only one who found the camera angle above the synth a bit disorienting? The way it's pitched out in front and angled back inward seems really unnatural imo. It might also be the lack of negative space, with the machine taking up the entire frame. Just my 2c, still love the content.
Damn a whole lot of geek speak you talk to much average homie doesn't have equipment options old-school is a Casio & whatever drum machine you can buy on the cheap or borrow from your boy
Off topic, but I don't think I've congratulated you on your weight loss. Congratulations!
Thanks. Been working at it!

Ugh! Perfection. Your channel is an absolute treat
Got me entertaining getting an Octatrack. Having fun with dedicated sequencers/samplers though
Damn. Youre looking good, man. Initially wasnt sure if that was you in the thumbnail.
Another great beat to catch on Patreon, thanks Jon!
It’s available there right now!
Next time, you should make a video where you have to incorporate guitar effect pedals

big aphex twin vibes!
especially that weird vocal!
the chorus on this thing sounds so full and warm
Have you done any industrial/ noisy beats yet?
I see Kensei: Sacred Fist on in the background you a real one for that.
great cook up, sounds are amazing.
I really like the slowed-down version. Appeals to the Hip-Hop lover part of me.
best producer on youtube...
You’re a huge inspiration man! Started my own channel. Thank you!
Slowing down with tape always hits the sweet spot for me
cold
I am still light years away from making beats as good as yours 😭
Jon, this is so good!
Dope as always!
Dope as usual 👊🏽
That's a blast🔥🔥🔥

Akai S950 - a man after my own heart
Hell yeah
whatdo you think of digitakt 2
Jungle warfare cd 1
How do you layer sounds so well? How do you know which sounds go well together? Does it take a while to find that 2nd or 3rd sound?
what's your thoughts on digitakt II?
I have none. Need to play with one first…
Do you sell beats?
Didn’t know the prophet had granular capabilities
It’s technically not granular as it never deals with “grains”. But there’s a lot of control over start and end points coinciding with looping
Bro u lost hella weight good shit
🤌
Synth?
yeah!!!! NO PRESETS!
have you thought about making a jonwayne discord? would be great for musicians and beatmakers who follow your work to discuss the craft
There’s a JMB discord available to Patreon members! Would love to have you there
Idk why the keys remind me a little of LONGLIVESTEELO
