      @@Von_Monty Stand ups use the same material a lot, not weekly topicals. Daily Show doesn't do elaborate sketches. That said SNL sucks, but just giving some context as to why they aren't completely comparable.
      And to finish it off Tim has cemented himself as one the greatest comedic minds in many years with I Think You Should Leave

      I think Tim was a little bit too left field for a more mainstream sketch show like SNL. Just wasn't a good fit for either party I feel. A few of his sketch ideas from SNL made it into "I think you should leave" that made me cry. They defo wouldn't have hit as well in the context of live sketch institution tho.

There’s still the same premises. “What if a guy is obnoxiously obsessed with a thing and keeps bringing it up”. With him there’s a comedic climax, with SNL, the skits just drag on until it’s over making you wonder what was so funny.

    It’s really interesting that during SNL he came across as a more conventional (yet talented) comedic actor but in ITYSL a much more particular sense of humor appears

    He’s really one of the best and too-quickest-tenure SNL cast members of the 2000’s. I still love SNL 100% but at the same time I’m happy Tim is so active. Detroiters is hilarious. His episode of The Characters was awesome. But I Think You Should Leave is just sublime big-budget sketch comedy and is SO excellent. Glad his career is booming, he deserves it.

    The guy has anxiety.
    SNL, Lorne Michaels, no ‘one’ is the enemy.
    He didn’t like performing in front of a live audience, so they moved him to be a member of the writing team…recognizing his brilliance, but then he left on his own terms to start the Detroiters, which was produced by Lorne Michaels.
    One comment just neutralized half the comments on this video.
    It’s a good idea to read and I stand by it.

    The awkward lines, the needless audience laughter, the way the actors stare into the camera in scenes where there's no camera. This show is painful to try to watch.

      The person with the cue cards stands behind the camera I think. So for the guest hosts who don’t memorize their lines they always look right at the camera bc they have to. But the great hosts like Melissa McCarthy don’t do that bc they know the lines.

    Seeing this just shows that SNL was holding him back. Glad he makes his own material, sadly SNL only has random good moments but its been years since SNL was actually worth watching.

    Swear to God, people must have watched the whole crappy show just to hear his skits. You can tell he wrote them too.

    I feel if him and Bill Hader and certain other actors (Seth McFarlene) would of done more skits together he worked out great. But I'm not complaining, he's way better doing his own show. Doing his voices and expressions are 100 times better on I Think You Should Leave.

    It's bizarre how little the audience laughs at legitimately hilarious jokes. Kevin Hart can't even handle him. Dude is the funniest guy on screen.
    Detroiters is one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. Possibly even better than I Think You Should Leave. That's a really high bar.
