This episode is a fave of mine, because we get so much more Dinklage! Threshold was the 1st thing I ever saw him in, and I've loved his work ever since. As much as I love the rest of the cast, I watch these eps for Dinklage.
I'm done reading any more comments about this show. People are either bashing the writing or just straight arguing about the character growth, political bias, or what outfit a certain doctor is wearing. It's a cool show and, (i think this is the tough one) remembering it is a FICTIONAL story. People get way too serious about trivial shit. No... No... Bad social media!
Exactly, it's just entertainment. When this first aired I loved the first few episodes but unfortunately missed the remainder. It wasn't too popular in Ireland among sci fi fans. As a 20 year old I seriously wanted to get it on with Caffrey.
the writing in this series got substantially better. the first couple eps had good concepts but the dialogue was so painfully flat, even in the most important lines of the show. By this ep, they had worked the bugs out and were artfully exploring some cutting edge stuff.
on the other hand, even it is painfull to confess because I am truly a fan of THRESHOLD: the technical, medical and presented social background knowledge of the presented scripts writers leaves much amiss. Isaac Asimov is still right in this point; a good Science Fiction author nieeds a lot of background knowldge or at least has to do his background researches with care. This is a point were TV script writers often fail as it was the case here. ( From: ASIMOV ABOUT SCIENCE FICTION )
Me, I love the Show, wished someone could do a remake in about the same style with this Invasion topic. Thirteen episodes were not enougH AD ON: JUST TO ALL THE CRITICS OF COMPLETE EPISODES ON TH-cam: aS most vieweers of those episodes I am not a SNORRER mosusing TH-cam to save money. . Of course I not only had watched this show on TV but I also own the complete set of episodes myself, have bought it over AMAZON I believe such is a good advertisement for such programs . Here I just enjoy the exchange of opinions So much to those wanting to forbid free complete episodes.
Will you believe it for the last episodes they got Cathrine Bell ( JAG ) on board as a scientist and sort of a freelance agent. Loved the way she had played her role.
Holy shit the cat in this episode is pretty flipping funny. I'm not sure who designed that cat but I bet when they filmed this on the first take the cast lost it from laughing. That's one grumpy kitty. 😂
A human decision to take another life to save and protect millions can make one seem unhuman. ..life can give us messed up decisions ....it's how we live with it afterwards
Alimony is based on what you were making during marriage not after divorce, doesn't matter if you land a huge job deal or win the lottery. I may be wrong but I don't think so.
Still some former spouse always tries, just think at Roddenberries first wife going to court for a share on the later STAR TREK TOS based shows and movies. :)
With this episode I can see why it might of ended as it's in the ocean which will effect the plankton and once that happens it's game over as that is the basis for sea life, which in turn brings life to everything else so with the sinking of the ship the earth would be lost as it's only a matter of time and the clock started ticking the moment the ship was blown up.
Edward Mitchell good call regarding the plankton but as the goal of the invader it's good bio form the Earth and the come us and they have the capability of altering the DNA of life forms and machines they could certainly, alter the life forms and DNA of the plankton and new Humanity to keep the show and human existence. around a bit longer. I don't think I've seen this show before, I find it entertaining but I think the only thing certain at this point, is a high probability, if not certainty, that it will be canceled in a few more episodes if that. The writers and actors really deserve High Praise in the area of character development and just these few episodes, they really seem to be becoming believable.
Yeah, I too liked the character development though some things I really don't like but over all it worked well. As for the probe having now watch all that was here I am thinking it was by pure accident people got to hear that DNA altering sound at all as the target was the oceans and the powerful ocean currents as a means to convert the whole earth. The narrow thinking of man in our arrogance assumed they were coming for us when in reality we overlooked the fact that they want the whole planet as the target of that probe was never us to start off with. In this I think or would assume that like the "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" we lose to them as our original thinking was flawed and we are simply unprepared to deal with their plans take ownership of this planet. The only way out I see at this point would be if we could create a counter DNA altering signal of our own as they have already gotten to the basis of all life on this planet targeting our oceans first. To me it doesn't seem like this is their first go around in converting planets to suit their way of life.
Lol, I started reading when I was a young boy. That was in the late 50s. Scifi was my favorite passion and I read everything remotely adventurous from The Hardy Boys, Tom Swift ,Tarzan and many others. I am still reading to this day. This series is hilariously full of weird stuff and the characters are interesting. Reminds me of the scifi & horror movies of the 50s & 60s. Your coment made me smile.
Not criticism, as the series is quite a good one, but ..... (1) hate to say it, but there would come a point at which the 'infected' would be/would have to be killed off. The threat that the 'infected' would represent would be just too great for humanitarian considerations to be taken into account. (2) there'd obviously be a world-wide response to such a threat - but the national focus adopted enables the programme to have been made! (3) the Threshold Team would probably be required to report to some discussive forum fairly regularly, it couldn't be allowed to operate as a stand alone activity. A very challenging series to write I suspect!
Going about a alien visit in that way, make these speculations go crazy. Look at this movie us guvernment, tell us what you know we all over the World do not run away scared when we hear this.... @usgov
And this is the episode that breaks it for me. Just show Obviously Bad Person Senator "Gosh Military Applications!" the goddam video logs of "Why no I'm not infected" kid being all alternately silent and menacing. Because you have recorded video feeds, right? RIGHT?
Same as usual - the Financial Department of the production company had not believed in the financial future of the series. Regrettably this is an international problem, have seen this with many promising TV shows here in Germany as well.
That series is so unrealistic! A real senator wouldn't use some wacky Akira Yamaoka-esque alien signal to gain superhuman strength! College ball (ya know) and nanomachines that harden in response to physical trauma are the way to go!
Why does this scream "the shining" meets " silence of the lambs"....knockoff? Maybe, but why do these stories re-occur? Watching a show from 2005 in 2022, I'm starting to see variations - if up is down and future proves past then......well, we've been here before and
Oops, @20:00- We already know that Fenway is a multiple divorcee. No big deal, so am I. But who pays alimony these days? Women earn more than men do, as a rule, regardless of what the media says. To be rewarded alimony, the petitioner must prove that he/she has no income, no potential for income, and relies entirely on their spouse for subsistence.
To wit, it's not the 1950s anymore. Most states are into equal rights now. If you're paying alimony or child support, it's because you're an idiot and you didn't file a response. FILE, FILE, FILE!!! The first rule of law is "don't break me". The second rule is "you can't get what you don't ask for"...
I.e.: if you're paying child-support, it's because you didn't ask for joint-custody. If you are paying alimony, it's because you didn't prove to the court that your spouse is a financial burden. I'm not saying it's right, I'm just saying it's true...
this episode is just stupid. the plot device to add a senator to the sworn in list to complicate and insert more drama doesnt wash at all. at the very least they could have gone to the president himself and MADE man back off and stay out of matters that are beyond his security clearance from the highest authority in the country.
and that's just one thing wrong with this episode. ive generally liked this series, but i feel that the wrighter(s) rushed this particular one to get it out and thus did a horrible job.
@john seymoure yeah, i dont believe that for a moment. the prez is THE head of government. if they want to know something, theyve the right. if there's something they dont know, that's because they dont WANT to.
David Tal: Not to say it would always be the case, but our current (brain-damaged) moronic adolescent occupying the White House would be a good argument AGAINST going to the president. That said, this addition of the senator to the chain-of-command signals a few things: The whole towering cover-up mechanism is no longer very sturdy. A few items in the Threshold Protocol were ignored: there is/was supposed to be a shadow on the 6 principals on the team....why didn't someone report the doctor's regular visits to the diner? Finally, the senator is/was added to provide additional and unexpected drama....and a new face and character to the mix ( a fairly standard tv practice for a program entering its mid season point...this was almost exactly at the halfway point in the proposed 13 episode commitment). I gotta stop leaving comments BEFORE I watch the whole episode.
The beginning of this show hitting its stride! If you’re still watching this you’re going to love what comes next! 😊
Such a mistake they cancelled this. Ans such a great cast!!!

Guess that applies to you too.

This is one of the best episodes. Thanks for the upload
3 plans... its neat that they were already laying ground work for the next 2 seasons . threshold foorhold stranglehold
The addition of the senator is a nice touch. Can't escape from stupid people, even in a crisis.
The Senator got to many Superhero Comics in his youth - but that is just a part of a very well done picture you are right of course
PLEASE!! I got a wife n... eight kids.
No1 that wears nice shoes has eight kids.
Point taken. Lol. Gotta love it.
First time I’ve read the comments. Awesome series Thank you so much.

what a great show
network execs are just stupid for letting it go
@34 minutes - when they find the cat! It's face ... hysterical ... couldn't stop laughing. Grumpy cat has nothing on this kitty.
Whats hysterical is how they never check every room when they enter a place.
MusingForces that cats face i had to watch it twice that was one grumpy cat lol
Shoot, both of u would b just as grumpy if u were mutated like that.

True
Roger Lynch, I could not agree more. I loved this show and wish this concept and exception cast could pick up the ball... and run with it.
Thanks for posting.
Their chevy needs a wheel alignment. Seriously.
Great series! Very good to watch again here, tks.
Great show! Thanks.
My, god this was a very good show not too many programs had good actors during this time...

He couldn't see the Forrest for the glass trees.
Kevin Kilner ("Earth: Final Conflict") is a guest star
Its a shame, he exhibit more passion in this feature than in his own franchise (Earth: Final Conflict)
Why do I keep watching this? Do I really believe it will get better?
This was a really interesting show, good science - well for a sci-fi show.
I never knew about this show by now.
I enjoy the series....
Thanks

they did.
cute watch

Exactly.
Good show. But, Carla Gugino is a horrible actress.
Edited?
13:09 Hah, that's Julie from Friends!
why was the series stopped?

How does alimony work? Why wouldn’t the government take care of these women after this like they did the senator?
That series is so unrealistic! A real senator wouldn't use some wacky Akira Yamaoka-esque alien signal to gain superhuman strength! College ball (ya know) and nanomachines that harden in response to physical trauma are the way to go!

Not a bad show, compared to what's on cable tv, but gotta say the shock at handguns from those two is kinda pathetic. Real to life, but pathetic.
