Yes, this is a reenvisioning of Fritz Lang's silent film where he "scrubbed the serial numbers off" of Stoker's book - but there are innovations even in Lang's version and this sounds like it veers even more.
So I take it this is a strong recommend? I'm skipping the review because the comments hint that it spoils the movie, again. Eggers is always spot on. The Witch is one of my favorite horror movies ever, and I'm hoping for more of the same quality.
I was a little concerned about the trailers as some of the footage does appear a little too CGI. However, I think watching it in full 4K or on a big screen from DSP might be a very different experience, we'll see. That said, I think it looks excellent in general and should be at least a solid entry into horror, and it could very well be a game changer along with 28 Years Later if it too delivers as I believe it could.
I’m definitely going to wait for the 4K release. Going to theaters involves dealing with idiots who can't put their phones away or STFU for an entire film.
Horror this year... - The Substance - Heretic - Strange Darling - Speak No Evil - Smile 2 - Terrifier 3 - Late Night With The Devil - Oddity - A Quiet Place: Day One - Alien: Romulus - Beetlejuice Beetlejuice - Abigail - Longlegs - Nosferatu - The First Omen - Your Monster - V/H/S Beyond - Immaculate - Lisa Frankenstein - Exhuma - MaXXXine - It's What's Inside - Cuckoo
The film makes the most avoidable mistake for the horror genre -- it shows the vampire WAY too much. It's technically pristine, of course, but less is so often more.
Yes, but the original was made to circumvent copyright on Dracula, renaming the character & film to avoid issues. AVGN / Cinemassacre did a good review of all the various Dracula adaptations & discussed how accurate they all were (hint : Francis Ford Coppola’s ranked high despite the fabricated love story).
@@williamerickson520 i meant in these reviews. Just state up front its the story of Dracula. The creator clearly want to remake the monster Nosferatu which is cool and is the only reason to actually make this movie with this title. But Dracula is now public domain. There are no copyright issues. The reviewers could be more concise with their reviews. Even Nosferatu is public domain now.
All the reviews have been so over the top and since I had never of Eggers, I watched the Northman and I barely lasted 30 minutes before bailing out. It was the most boring movie I’ve seen. I just hope this isn’t as slow and boring.
@CGMedia2023 you are the first one saying that this is an elevated horror. U see elevated horror is being used to make easy money without any effort. It's Hollywood the crappy industry at its poor era.. Everyone knows what an actual horror movie is and it's definitely not the 2020s lineup except for a few.
If by "scares" you mean cheap jump scares that titillate rather than frighten, then I hope it has none. As for terrifying imagery, it looks like it has a lot.
Robert Eggers is so overrated. I watched the witch and it was so boring and full of feminist messaging painted all over, i'm not looking forward to see any of his movies ever.
What? A movie that I can be excited for? Inconceivable!
Yes, folks, it's an adaptation of Dracula...how can fans of horror and vampire films not know this? It's only been well known lore for 102 years.
Wait until the SpongeBob fans show up...
God damn it Allen no spoilers.
Gosh Alan 😅 giving me the whole movie
I cannot wait to see it. "The Lighthouse" is amazing. In the sense you return to a favorite novel. Love the channel. You guys are great!
"The Lighthouse" was so batshit insane in all the best ways. I have high hopes for "Nosferatu."
It looks too digital. I’ll see it when it comes out. If every horror scene has a ton of digital effects, I think the creators are too lazy.
Got our tix to see it on the 29th. Very stoked.
I'm stokered.
Sound's like another take on Bram Stokers Novel! That's almost exactly how it is in the Dracula novel!
Yes, this is a reenvisioning of Fritz Lang's silent film where he "scrubbed the serial numbers off" of Stoker's book - but there are innovations even in Lang's version and this sounds like it veers even more.
Next SciFi. Cmon Eggars. You can do it!❤❤❤
Green Slime! I'll throw that out there.
Have you guys watched the Doug Jones version of Nosferatu that came out a few months ago?
I've never seen Chris so giddy over a new movie like this before.
So I take it this is a strong recommend? I'm skipping the review because the comments hint that it spoils the movie, again.
Eggers is always spot on. The Witch is one of my favorite horror movies ever, and I'm hoping for more of the same quality.
It is a 9/10. They don't spoil it, but Alan's summary is long and involved until Chris cuts him off.
This will be the only film I’ll have gone to the theater this year . As a matter of fact I haven’t been to the theater since before the pandemic .
I like the Herzog version mostly because Isabelle Adjani
At the end does Nosferatu get a hysterectomy?
Horror never left.
My wife doesn't put up any arguments about watching something when I tell her film threat recommends it.

I'm just happy this movie feels like old England, and does NOT look like current day Los Angeles. In today's idiotic times, that feels like a miracle!
Does Nosferatu have a morbius cameo?
CANT WAIT for this.
I’m definitely going to wait for the 4K release. Going to theaters involves dealing with idiots who can't put their phones away or STFU for an entire film.
Or watching the facenappie crowd flail.
I love Alan, but he sucks at describing movies 😂
🤣😂
Ouch
It’s part of the charm of the show. Two friends taking movies
One friend talking movies. The other not even watching the movies. Plus, you can’t spell.
He can’t read for sh*t as well. But its part of his charm.
Horror this year...
- The Substance
- Heretic
- Strange Darling
- Speak No Evil
- Smile 2
- Terrifier 3
- Late Night With The Devil
- Oddity
- A Quiet Place: Day One
- Alien: Romulus
- Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
- Abigail
- Longlegs
- Nosferatu
- The First Omen
- Your Monster
- V/H/S Beyond
- Immaculate
- Lisa Frankenstein
- Exhuma
- MaXXXine
- It's What's Inside

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice being horror is like Deliverance being a documentary.
@Tyler_Durden987 It's horror/fantasy/comedy so why not
I wanna see this movie so Fucking bad!!!
Murnu, Herzog. Why do it again?
Allen gets to speak for about 2 and a half minutes in the nine and a half minute segment. Oh Chris...
I want to see what kind of popcorn bucket they come out with in this lol!
Already got my tickets for the day after Christmas. I’m not a big horror person but I love monster movies and gothic horror.
Gothic horror is the only true horror!
So, no forced "inclusion and diversity?" Sounds like a winner!
Got my tickets.
I liked Heretic better but still a good movie
The film makes the most avoidable mistake for the horror genre -- it shows the vampire WAY too much. It's technically pristine, of course, but less is so often more.
Isn't this mirroring Bram Stoker's Dracula?
Nosferatu is an unofficial adaptation of the book yes.

AVGN / Cinemassacre did a good review of all the various Dracula adaptations & discussed how accurate they all were (hint : Francis Ford Coppola’s ranked high despite the fabricated love story).
I dont understand why they dont just say its the story of dracula. But with a different nane
@@iamrysheem Because of the copyright issues with the original.

I like the scene where Nosferatu turns the lights on and off.
Yeah, and it was great when SpongeBob and Squidward showed up
I like the scene where Leto says It’s Nosfartime & Morbin all over the screen. Defiantly the scene all time of the movie.
NOS-FER-AH-TUUU...😅
"England of it's time." 🙄 Because Europe's a country, right yanks?
All the reviews have been so over the top and since I had never of Eggers, I watched the Northman and I barely lasted 30 minutes before bailing out. It was the most boring movie I’ve seen. I just hope this isn’t as slow and boring.
If there are no scares, no terrifying imaginary, then it's only hype and gimmick.
That's basically all "elevated" horror actually is.
@CGMedia2023 you are the first one saying that this is an elevated horror. U see elevated horror is being used to make easy money without any effort. Chris, stop being a shit to Alan. You must have been a Starbucks manager at one point in your life.
Robert Eggers is easily one of my favorite directors. Right up there with Kubrick.
Getting sick of seeing that Billy kid in every fkn movie 🎥
Skarsgard is overated. Alan is an idiot.
Robert Eggers is so overrated. I watched the witch and it was so boring and full of feminist messaging painted all over, i'm not looking forward to see any of his movies ever.
Again, I love Alan, but he (may be) a writer, not a podcaster. Chris, you need someone else as a side kick.
Yeah, no. Got no time for woke "elevated" horror. How much does anyone want to bet that Nosferatu got race/gender swapped?
He's played by a white dude so you've already lost that bet.
Nope, you will lose that bet.
