We rescued 4 horses.
One stud and 3 mares.
They are happy and healthy now and we love them.
Seeing all those empty halters is so very unsettling. Breaks my heart.

There are sev refuges on yt. I follow them. Its gutwrenching at times.

Thank you for bringing this to light! It is heartbreaking what happens to so many horses. Absolutely no horse deserves the fate of slaughter, and yet that is what happens to so many who have spent their lives being loyal, honest, hardworking and loving to their people. The betrayal animals face from our apathy is staggering.

There is a lady by the name of Shelby here in Danville Indiana . My son works for her. She worked and was under the tutelage of the Kings Ranch in south Texas and now has her own training facility Want to give Shelby a shout out for what she did. Rec'd a call from someone in Missouri to let her know that 5 horses she had had in her barn were now in a kill pen and to be shipped to Mexico the following afternoon. This woman summoned my son, and 3 others and drove all night into the late morning of the next day to save those horses.
They arrived and there were TWELVE horses in that corral (3 mares with foals and a draft). They ALL came back to Indiana. She just couldn't leave the mares/foals/draft gelding behind. Shelbys mom has a rescue center, and all were transported there. Horses were in terrible shape. Apparently, the owner fell on hard times and the horses were the ones to pay the price.
Listening to her speak was really hard because I can hear and feel the pain that she’s experiencing having to see all of this and then only be able to help in comparison a very small amount of horses imagine if this foundation and nonprofit rescue was properly funded by all of us or whatever like This is the person who needs our funds. This is the person who needs to be backed 100% on everything that she does. She is truly out there, making it difference and helping horses and being realistic about it the amount of money that I can donate is not going to be able to change, but collectively our donations can I just wish we could advertise for it way bigger scale. This video should have way more than 53 comments I will do whatever I can to help your organization you are truly an angel.
It should be illegal to ship horses across the border !!!
Italy is the main import of horses for slaughter here in Europe. So these horses travel also long distances, depending on where in Europe they are purchased. In Denmark it was a big issue as the Danish haulers were not allowed to ship them and it had to be a hauler from Italy. There was an undercover journalist which followed the hauler and they did not follow the rules of long haul transportation . It was sad to see the conditions of the horses at a stop, I think in Germany.
It should be illegal to keep breeding while soooo many of these poor souls are abused, neglected and abandoned!!!! That's what I think! And not online horses 😢 It's disgusting!!!

I cannot imagine how hard it is to do this kind of work, because you can't save all of them.. They need funds, and the expense to save these horses are extranomical..there is so much work involved..So please donate..I know of this rescue and they are reputable so is any rescue they work with..I know of some shady rescues that work with kill buyers preying on peoples emotions so please be careful who you donate to.
This will get worse if horse milk ice cream becomes a thing. This is a really important time to push. Again, thank you.

Just need to educate people who want to own a horse that is just more than having a pet. But I am sure that some of these horses come from horse breeders too. Thanks for your help.

No animal deserves slaughter, if we all stop eating animals then all slaughter will stop eventually. The meat industry doesn't want horse slaughter to stop as they know it might cause people to realize why just horses? That' was my journey after working with horses for many years. I stopped eating all 4 legged animals in 1994 and I felt less guilty, but in 2010 I went full vegan and feel even better. Be peace, be vegan for the victims ❤

The horse industry is sooo beyond messed up, and totally need sto be regulated way better their should on side vets, and as sad, as this to say, their should be a a few vets able to give some care like clean up cuts, and gashes, and give antibiotics, and pregnant mares in mares with foals need better conditions and care as well. To many that haven't started life yet, ready to give up on it!
The reality check is understanding that our ‘pets’ are overbred with very few regulations to prevent unnecessary breeding. This includes, for the most part, horses, dogs, and cats. Rescues can only do so much and are truly nothing more than a band aid to the problem of over breeding. Keep in mind, when the horse slaughter plants were active in the USA they kept the issue marginally under control, but the same unwelcome situations existed. Beloved family pets were stolen and sold in auctions like this, and still are. I also want to point out that in the USA there were regulations, such as with livestock, to prevent needless suffering during the slaughter process. In other countries those regulations do not exist. Let that sink in. We Americans may dislike the notion of eating horse, but the world does not agree with us. So, these auctions will continue to operate until a better, more humane, solution presents itself.

You do NOT want to see the videos of mexicos's barbaric methods unless you have an iron stomach and nothing shocks and sickens you any longer😳I accidently clicked on one and 20 seconds later I X'ed out as quick as I could. That short 20 seconds kept me awake for several nights.

There away to much over breeding of horses and not homes for all that why sales barns get them

Why aren't the horse owners fined for animal cruelty?
I love horses but have come to realize many of the same people who passionately care about rescuing animals find more emotional satisfaction in that than helping humans and don't even care about human babies dying gruesome abortion deaths. Also it's widely known that buying these horses from the dealers enables the dealers to buy ever more horses that they can fulfill a quota to ship to Mexico. Horse rescues are a massive boon to the livestock auction/dealer industry but the cost of caring for large animals will probably always make it unrealistic to require pet-style treatment of horses and other livestock, and in a sense the significant shift in that direction of investing in rescue and maintenance of these animals is made possible by people not having kids. Our society is on course to have more and more significant problems from these types of distorted priorities. I say, prioritize your marriage and kids and if you can afford to have a horse or pony for them then do so. But the reason for doing so should be make sense in the context of the people's interests.
I don't think it's fair you writing a comment like this. They are trying to help the poor horses. You should be calling out all the owners and beeders that dump the horses at auctions and kill pens. Maybe you would like to share what you do to help children? Or the mothers that are having these gruesome abortion deaths? Please stay kind and polite and show some compassion towards the people that are helping. The laws in the States need to change.

I'm from Germany. In some places we have a "Pferdeklappe"* also a "Babyklappe"** for desperad people, who can no more afford the bills of a *horse or **give the Baby away to adopt 😢
First I commend you for what YOU think is good for a horse BUT it's way bigger than you !!! Your only hurting the horse mostly and putting people in DANGER !!! You buy a horse no horse person wants it poorly bred or old or lame or crazy minded most all that is not reversible face it some have had owners that knew nothing about a horse and the horse developed bad bad habits now you think your going to correct that and sell those horses to people who think of a horse like they do a dog or cat just bigger .A horse scared or pissed off can hurt you even kill you a lame horse mist expensive animal you could ever own daily cost alone to feed and care for a horse is high high high it's not for every one !!! MY Recommendation IS TRAIN THE PEOPLE FIRST of what needs done to own one 6 months training to adopt one with a certified trainer vets ALL EXPENSIVE MAYBE THE ANIMAL GOING INTO THE FOOD CHAIN IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO ? You send a horse out to a person who knows not much the horse will most likely end back up at auction because it was not ridable or lameness or mean attitude and you do it all over again and again when do you say this is a bleeding heart scam for money not for good of animal death can be the best thing for ALOT of them just say truth s!!!

You know nothing about legitimate horse rescues. They would never allow an unsound or untrained horse to be adopted by anybody, and they work very hard to protect horses and people.
Have you ever seen what happens to horses in the kill pipeline? Maybe you should see that before spouting off about it being the best thing for some horses. The cruelty at slaughter facilities breaks your heart and crushes your faith in humans, not to mention the torture these horses go through. Maybe you should learn more about this issue before you offer your opinion because any good rescue does not let inexperienced people adopt horses!
Seriously? Before you get on your soapbox, maybe you should ride with these unfortunate horses, many sick and injured, jammed into a crowded slaughter truck, without food or water, and traveling for hours, and then watch the tortuous slaughter house killing process. Then say it's an acceptable fate for a helpless creature who had previously been a show or race horse or somebody's pet. 😢
