Thank you for the help! Just thought I'd let everyone know my situation for anyone with similar questions/issues as I had. My cruise control light would light up on the steering wheel, but it would not set. The brake lights all worked and there was no error code or check engine light, everything worked as normal other than my cruise control and parking assist. After swapping out this part my cruise control now engages and works perfectly, I think my parking assist even beeped at me while I was parking after the test drive, so it possibly fixed that too, we'll wait and see. Good luck everyone!
Thanks for posting the video. I had the same problem and got it fixed in about 20 minutes. I didn't have a bolt to remove. Just a fat guy trying to squeeze into a tight place.
Thank you! I'm glad i found this video and was able to do it myself. I'm jealous of how easy you made it seem to get that clip off. It took me longer than i care to admit...
Thank you!!! I could not figure out how to get the clip back on. Other videos talked about the clip but you are the only video I found that shows how to put it back on. Finished the job in 5 minutes. Life saver!!! My cruise control works perfect again and by reading other comments it seems this will also fix my stabilitrak issue.
I just did this and it was easy. Fixed both cruise control and service stabiltrack error. Trick to getting the clip off is to grab the top of the small rounded part on the outside of clip where bolt goes in and pull away and it will pop right off. No need to even use a screwdriver.
Lol just because its new body style doesnt mean its called 07.5 you hillbilly. They made these the same time as the other 07s they just called the other one 1500 classic
Thank you your video very useful. Watched others and you explained and showed how it’s done far better than the others. Sensor installed and all is working well. Thanks again
this just fixed my ABS STABILI TRACK lights , thanks for detailed video by the way it was rough trying to orientate the module and clip. one thing i noted was the bolt had lock tight on it as well but i didnt even need a wrench to back it out .... not sure what was up with that but thanks again
I am a big guy so I was in every position trying to take that clip off. Eventually I saw this video and knew where to pry. At one point I was upside down on my seat so I can have good access under there. Took me about a hour 😂. 😢
Just had to replace booster. Got brakes but now the brake lights stay on, replaced switch, still lights on. Position of brake pedal doesn’t matter as not a open/close switch. Any ideas, or brakes we’d bleed too.
It's Christmas Day and I'll be looking forward to a stop at one of my local auto parts places tomorrow to get a new switch. Sooo very tired of my cruise control not working right. I did figure out that if I use my toe and pull the pedal toward me even though I don't feel any movement, I could get it to set. I'm tempted to take the switch off and pop it open to clean the switch contacts, but for the small price of a new one why bother. Thanks for your video.
Thank you ... however, i tried and replaced light switch. So I continued troubleshooting and found the reson of this issue . It was from defective steering Clock . Once i replace it by new one the cruise activated and work good
BEWARE!!!!! READ THIS BEFORE YOU REPLACE THE SWITCH!!! Before you replace the switch you need to realize the Brake Lights won't work unless the truck is running. I spent an hour checking fuses, replacing the old switch, putting the new one back in and out three times. Nothing worked when I pressed the brake pedal. Then I decided to crank it up and the brake lights worked. I thought the brake lights would come on anytime you pressed the pedal. It did in every other car I owned but not this truck. So if you think you didn't do it right crank it up and try it then.
I'm wondering if this is also my issue, I went to the parts store hoping to get the AC Delco but they only had Standard. The swap went pretty quick and I was sure the switch was the issue due to the symptoms (tail lights but no brakes, and cruise won't engage) but no dice. Maybe I'll pull it tomorrow and try another or try testing the wiring.
Late to the channel, but were you experiencing any surging/pulsing of rpm's when you were able to get any cruise control engaged prior to replacing it?
I have a 09 Chevrolet suburban replaced that switch but I noticed when I disconnected the switch to brake lights still stayed on what could be the possible problem?
Great Video! My silverado cruise control stopped working but did NOT put on the engine light or give a code. By replacing the old switch with a factory switch from a jungle themed online store, less that $20, the cruise control is up and running again. Thanks for the help @Idaman71044

So I bought the switch and when I go under to replace it, it had no bolt. It has the metal clip, which looks way different than all the ones on all the videos I have seen. I have a 2007 avalanche by the way.
I refuse to take my suburban to get this done. No 250.00 min to fix it. I will do it. I have been watching this video several times to just know well what to look for and do
Do I need that 10 mm bolt for it to work?? I lost mine on it and have the problem of my brake lights stays on all the time and cruise control doesn’t work and it throws me a code of service cruise control as well .
I just replaced mine today. Took it for a drive & still didn't work. I stopped turned the truck off & on again the light finally came off went for a drive & it worked. It was doing this before I changed it to the new one. Do you recommend to unplug the battery for it to reset or to also erase the code see if that helps?
Hey thanks for the video and help. Mine is a 2010 and did as you stated and it worked. However not at first. I took it for a drive to try it out and at first did not work , but stopped truck and pushed on wiring harness and tried it again and boom there she went ha ha. Thank you. Clip was an issue as mine was in slightly different locale on brake pedal. Had my wife go under dash and it just came off in her hand lol figured right. Thanks again.
My cruise control still work just the brake light isn't working, new light bulb is on, will the new brake switch will work? Im a beginner at this mechanic thing
I just replaced it and whenever I went to drive it it wouldn’t let me shift into drive but when I unplugged it and left it unplugged completely it then it let me shift into drive can you help me or explain what happened or did wrong I got the exact part off of autozone the duralast brand
Ive got a 2007 suburban but, my switch looks totally different than this. Are there other versions of this switch? The switch I bought has 4 male plugs. The one on the car has 6 or 8 looks like. I don't want to take it apart if it doesn't work.
Hello. I switched mines out due to non working cruise control. It works now, but now I’m getting service stabilitrack service traction control on my dash. Any suggestions on how to fix that?
Just replaced it on my 2011,cruise works, easy fix,pry clip out with thin screwdriver with a little force, clip goes back on with upward force and your thumb, took me 10 min.Truck even runs better.Like my trailer brakes were sticking the whole time.
@Idaman71044 i just did this, only thing is my truck won't start and the needles on the guages keep ticking as if it's trying to reprogram or something. I tried jump atarting the battery, but it still doesn't work. Any advice? I don't have a computer to read what the problem might be.
I'm guessing it wasn't doing this before? If not swap the old part back in and recheck it. If it starts and runs normally with the old part back in, sounds like a bad new part.
@@idaman71044 it was the battery lol idk why but as soon as i unplugged the break switch and switched it with the new one, the battery died (it was already old). So got a new one and everything is how it should be lol thanks for the help!
So I just replace my trucks brake light but it did not light up. Hopefully your method will do the job..could I purchase the brake switch at like an autozone store?
Ok. I have to ask. Year, make, model. I assume Chevy Silverado. If it is the same year range as mine, I found out that the brake lights dont come on unless the ignition key is in the on position. Typically people replace bulbs with it off. So let me know if this helps.
Joseph Montoya my chevy 2005 silverado has the same problem but to the point that if i push the brake light switch upwards they work until it wiggles back down and they stop working all together unless i press the brake pedal all the way
Read before you purchase the switch. I purchase my switch and replaced it. Cruise now works. The kicker however is...the switch has two different contacts. One normally closed and one normally open. I tested the switch I removed and the contacts tested perfect. The existing grease on the other hand was dry, hard and sticky. The switch has to rotate on the metal pin on side brake pedal. The reason the brake lights still work is because you press the brake hard enough to actuate the switch in whatever position it might be in. So if the switch is stuck out of correct position then the contact for cruise control won’t work. My new switch came with instructions that said to thoroughly remove all grease from pin and add new grease. I used white lithium. So basically I believe the old switch was still good but the grease was not. I mean why would just one section of the switch fail?
Hey ldaman. I just put a new brake pedal switch in my 07 Silverado. Went to clear the code(none showed up), but started truck after and my dash light came on. Thought maybe my emergency brake got pushed down but it wasn’t. What do you think it could be? I’m going to check it out again In the morning. This is a first for me. Not sure what’s going on.

Will that make your brake light come on
Will the cruise control work if you change out the switch but don't clear the code??
That's what happened in my case. I replaced the switch and cruise worked. The light was still on due to catalytic converter code.
Read before you purchase the switch. I purchase my switch and replaced it. Cruise now works. The kicker however is...the switch has two different contacts. One normally closed and one normally open.
