Hi mom! You live in. A beautiful area. Not a nice as the mountains of NC or the coastal Carolinas but still a nice view. We didnt drive through Tucson from dfw to the grand canyons but we did enjoy beautiful Arizona. BTW, try and record during the golden hour as the flickering between the darkness and brightness of your head blocking and unblocking the sun is annoying.

When you said you didn't think anyone would be on the wrong side of the fence, a distant figure makes its way along the horizon from the right. They stand on the edge for a while, look like they stumble while turning to come back, and then we don't see them again. Hope they got home safe! I love all the pockets and utility in Galen products. Everything you need in one unit!

I was not familiar with the Hohokam, so seeing your note I checked, and was blown away by their history - especially with regard to sophisticated irrigation systems. My ancestry is Anishinaabe (Ojibway) in Canada - I am always happy to learn more about our relatives on Turtle Island (in addition to pens, journalling, etc from Denali) so thank you to you both!

I was in Smyrna and Pergamon because there Claudius *Galenus* teached. I use cheap eco-leather folio, Yours is fantastic. I love Leuchtturm notebooks and German pens (especially Pelikan, Kaweco and Montblanc No.12) - but my lov fountain pens brand is Parker.

AdventureDenali - I received my Galen Leather A5 Zippered Folio. It’s beautiful. I especially like the removable piece pen carrier. I’m really into the TWSBI ECO right now. I have them in purple, blue, and red. I’m waiting for the orange TWSBI to arrive. I like a little color in my journaling. Along with the four TWSBI ECOS, I also carry a fine and extra fine brass Iraurita fountain pens. Both brass pens contain black Take-Sumi ink. The ECOS have Diamine ink in Oxblood, Monboddos Hat (purple) and Marine. I’m expecting my Superior Labor leather pen roll to arrive on Monday. Seriously - you’ve been quite influential in my purchasing decisions. You need to be getting a cut of all sales for the items you review. That would be a nice little side hustle to fund your own purchases. I don’t believe I’ve watched all your videos in order. What TN Cover/Journal are you using now? Do you cycle through your journals? I have wanted one of those Galen Leather A5 cases ever since I saw it on Figboot’s review. I will have to wait a while since I bought a bunch of ink and pens recently. I may get kicked out of the house if that showed up. I’d probably try their A5 notebooks too. If I’m paying to have it shipped from Turkey, I’d add their EDC Wallet/case. It can hold a smaller pen, pocket knife, flashlight etc. Love the view. I never lived in Arizona, but grew up in Wyoming and Colorado. I miss having the mountains in my daily view.
May I double check if the felt liner for this version is brown or pinkish? Galen Leather's web store shown a pinkish liner which appears well matched to the natural leather NOW, but as it matures, the leather will be honey brown and personally I feel a bit awkward against a the pinkish liner. I JUST ordered a Galen Leather passport sized wallet insert that I’ll be using as a travelers notebook. I ordered it about a week ago and I can’t wait to get it!!! I think I recognized your 10 fountain pen holder as being the Galen Leather one, correct? It’s the only one that I’ve seen that has a protective flap for both sides and not just one in the middle. The only notebooks i use are Leuchtturm 1917 A5 and my TN's for sketching and watercolouring. Defintaly have this Galen Leather Zip-up on my wishlist. As in #1 on that list! :D Just not sure which leather finish yet. I love that you embrace the ink stain by the way and use the folio to it's full potential. And that view... gorgeous.

Greetings from the top of Tumamoc which is a ... little hill in the middle of Tucson- that’s actually not really Tucson - (pointing over the top of her right shoulder) well kind of it’s like of a southern extension but those are the Sahuarita mountains in the background there and Green Valley - Tucson Metropol is in this direction here (pointing to the right) (chuckle). Ahhm my phone is propped up precariously on a Little Rock and I am on the edge of a cliff - essentially ahm the hill is wonderful because it’s ... 800 feet in el elevation - like the climb and 1 1/2 miles - so it’s really do-able (sigh) erm I go after work now I go on the weekends. Ahh it doesn’t take that long it’s like a 30 minute hike up to the top and gets your heart pumping. It’s great. And it’s also very close to where I live so it’s nice to erm have a place that I can just get to really quickly and beee out of doors. But anyways what I actually wanted to (chuckle) introduce to you guys up here on .. the mountain top is my Galen leather A5 zip-up folio. So a couple of you have been asking what am I journaling in these days? and what am I- what are the accessories I am using? Ahh I actually went back to the A5 size leuchtturm notebook - I believe this is the third one that I’m in now since returning to this size. I just wanted the the the space to spread out. I really like the Leuchtturm journals. I like the paper. I like the design of it. And I also wanted tooo simplify and not have any accessories. I just wanted to carry a journal and that was it. And for two journals I did just that (sigh) but one of the things that I ended up really missing was having a ...unit... of things. I changed bags all the time. I put on a backpack or I pack my bike panniers or I use a purse and so I am constantly like moving around whatever I need to carry or want to carry every day and the nice thing about having the travellers notebook was it was just that - a little unit that held my wallet and my pen and my journal and I could just toss it in ... whatever bag I needed to use that day and that was it. That was the only thing I had to worry about. So I decided to give this lovely case a try (holding the Galen) and so far I am absolutely (said with passion) loving it. PAUSE. I keep .. looking up only because this is a very popular trail to climb and (laugh) I am on the side of the fence you’re not supposed to be on - but there is a bunch of people on the right side of the fence and I can hear their voices. I doubt anyone is going to cross the fence (laugh) ahh but yeh it..it would feel weird ... to be out here .. recording..... if someone were to see me. This is in the natural leather (referring to the Galen) by the way and it has already received some abuse - I had a pen ink spill so let’s just see what’s inside (sniffle - likely from the heart beating climb). So this thing can carry way more than what I am carrying .. presently ... but I have my journal which is a Leuchtturm A5 size and I painted the cover - just kind of experimenting with that. I’m carrying two fountain pens and a pencil - this is a vintage Schaefer mechanical pencil. There is a space below - You can see where the ink spilled (smiling and giggle). There is space below which sometimes I carry a chop stick in there. You can probably carry a charging block or more pens if you don’t mind them sharing the space (sniff from the hearty climb). I have money- there’s a pocket in here which I put postcards and other paper and stamps. This is a passport size notebook which carries my addresses and then credit cards and then cash ..I don’t know that’s pretty obvious - I don’t know if I said that (smile & giggle) Ahh there’s a little clip here for keys - I will show you that to you in just a moment. The notebook is easy to fold in and out it just sits with the back flap in there and it’s designed so you can put in a notebook ... err you know a top bound notebook in here as well (sniff from the Tucson fresh air). There’s also a removable pen carrier. It’s a four-slot and it fits right into here (pointing to the inner section of the Galen). Which is really wonderful. I love that it is removable because I don’t always want to carry that many pens ahm but it is nice for when I do and then ... as I'm writing ...whoops.. I will show you .... I can take that little pen pouch out easily so that my journal lays flat (demonstrating the flatness if the journal whilst in the Galen) I don’t have to worry about it - so that’s really nice. I don’t have that with me right now (referring to pen pouch) but I do have the key chain it came with ... that I now use for my keys .. so it just clips on ... to that (on to inner spine of Galen demonstrated)- although I don’t really use it often because I prefer my keys to be usually accessible and I don’t want to have to unzip the folio - every time I use.. everytime I need my keys ahm so what I tend to do if I’m just carrying this around .. is that I put them on the outside. So this thing has been absolutely wonderful. I’m a big fan of it. If you have any questions or anything more you would like to see just let me know. Thank you guys for watching and I hope you enjoyed the view. See this. I have no idea if this is actually old - an old petroglyph. If it is .... that’s really cool (said off camera but likely to be with a beautiful smile and passion). ❤️
I have a (an overly priced) This Is Ground (TigMod) folio I got years ago, that I do love and want to carry around more, but it's quite heavy. The Galen Leather company is one I've wanted to try for quite some time - what you have looks quite pliable and light. I adore their writing box especially. This is my second year in an A5 - last year was the Nanami Paper Company notebook and I really liked it. I was surprised that I would like the Leuchtturm this year because in prior years, I didn't connect with it - now I do and it's probably because I love the color. It's a gold/bronze color and I don't have a folio cover on at this time, and instead simply adorned it with stickers. I love looking at it, pulling it out for planning, journaling, lists, and more. I always love Sojourner's folios (her Gedi leather the most) and have just been lurking for quite a bit with Galen Leather.
Thanks a lot for your review! I've already watched a ton of reviews of this folio, but none of them answered my question which the only one that stops me from buying one of these instantly. There were several reports on reddit that the pen loops on these leave dye or scratch marks on their pens. I plan to use it for not so cheap pens, so right now it's a stopper for me. Could you please tell me if you have noticed the same behaviour of the leather with your pens? Thank you in advance!
Beautiful video. I was wondering if there is enough room for the A5 journal and the additional removal pen case carrying 4 more pens? Seems like all of that would be too bulky for the case to be zipped closed.
ptoyman definitely works! I’ve tried it and yes it does bulk it up a bit, but it works! And with time, the leather would stretch a bit more to accommodate being so packed.
As soon as you mention that it would feel weird recording the video if someone was watching someone walks up and stands on that hill right behind you, strange coincidence I think.

There is space below which sometimes I carry a chop stick in there. You can probably carry a charging block or more pens if you don’t mind them sharing the space (sniff from the hearty climb). I have money- there’s a pocket in here which I put postcards and other paper and stamps. This is a passport size notebook which carries my addresses and then credit cards and then cash ..I don’t know that’s pretty obvious - I don’t know if I said that (smile & giggle) Ahh there’s a little clip here for keys - I will show you that to you in just a moment. The notebook is easy to fold in and out it just sits with the back flap in there and it’s designed so you can put in a notebook ... err you know a top bound notebook in here as well (sniff from the Tucson fresh air).
There’s also a removable pen carrier. It’s a four-slot and it fits right into here (pointing to the inner section of the Galen). Which is really wonderful. I love that it is removable because I don’t always want to carry that many pens ahm but it is nice for when I do and then ... as I'm writing ...whoops.. I will show you .... I can take that little pen pouch out easily so that my journal lays flat (demonstrating the flatness if the journal whilst in the Galen) I don’t have to worry about it - so that’s really nice.
I don’t have that with me right now (referring to pen pouch) but I do have the key chain it came with ... that I now use for my keys .. so it just clips on ... to that (on to inner spine of Galen demonstrated)- although I don’t really use it often because I prefer my keys to be usually accessible and I don’t want to have to unzip the folio - every time I use.. everytime I need my keys ahm so what I tend to do if I’m just carrying this around .. is that I put them on the outside.

I have a (an overly priced) This Is Ground (TigMod) folio I got years ago, that I do love and want to carry around more, but it's quite heavy. The Galen Leather company is one I've wanted to try for quite some time - what you have looks quite pliable and light. I adore their writing box especially.
This is my second year in an A5 - last year was the Nanami Paper Company notebook and I really liked it. I was surprised that I would like the Leuchtturm this year because in prior years, I didn't connect with it - now I do and it's probably because I love the color. It's a gold/bronze color and I don't have a folio cover on at this time, and instead simply adorned it with stickers. I love looking at it, pulling it out for planning, journaling, lists, and more. I always love Sojourner's folios (her Gedi leather the most) and have just been lurking for quite a bit with Galen Leather.
Thanks a lot for your review! I've already watched a ton of reviews of this folio, but none of them answered my question which the only one that stops me from buying one of these instantly. There were several reports on reddit that the pen loops on these leave dye or scratch marks on their pens. I plan to use it for not so cheap pens, so right now it's a stopper for me. Could you please tell me if you have noticed the same behaviour of the leather with your pens? Thank you in advance!

Beautiful video. I was wondering if there is enough room for the A5 journal and the additional removal pen case carrying 4 more pens? Seems like all of that would be too bulky for the case to be zipped closed.
ptoyman definitely works! I’ve tried it and yes it does bulk it up a bit, but it works! And with time, the leather would stretch a bit more to accommodate being so packed.

Im purchasing the folio today- do you love or hate the way the undyed leather is aging? I’m debating between natural and navy... or green or crazy horse brown. Haha- basically I cant decide!
Haha! I’ve enjoyed how it has aged! Although it’s a slower process than I thought maybe it’d be.

@@tangled6931 Can confirm. You have to find the right journal/setup for you and that may take awhile depending on your wants and needs.
It took me 5 years to find an agenda/journal I really truly enjoyed and stuck to. The fun part about journaling is trying new stuff
If I may chime in...i can be happy with several new and different things. I can see myself going back and forth depending on my mood.
I just received my folio and I noticed that when I zip up my case the pens leave a dent on my journal cover. Does that happen to you also?
