I usually hate this feature but in Galen Leather's A5 Notebook Cover, I love it!

Kerry, I've found it easier to put leather covers on if you fold the covers of the notebook back all the way like birds wings up high ready for the downstroke. Thanks for the wonderful review, it looks great and a good value too.

I have the exact same product, but I cut the pen loop off -- I would never use it and it felt intrusive. Otherwise, it's a brilliant cover and I use it with a Rhodia exercise book so it's a slim affair.
Hey there.
An easy way of getting notebooks into the notebook cover is to bend the notebook ( and of course the cover) 180 degrees so the outside surfaces touch each other. This way it can slip in without bending the cover too much. Once slipped in about half way you can bend it back to normal shape and it’ll just continue to slide in further into the cover.
Another thing about pen holders. You can buy self stick pen holders on eBay that stick onto your notebook edge and work excactly the same as the built in ones.
Galen makes great products. Just got their wooden pen stand that is proudly holding a Narwhal, Swipe and Vac700r.
Love the video. Cosmo Air light is great to work with.

Do you think adding your own ribbon bookmark would be easy in this? or does the notebook sit too close to the case (i.e. causing a bump visible on the outside of the case)

Galen makes amazing zippered notebook covers. I have two of their B6 zippered folios, and I absolutely love them.
Do you notice the leather "edge" underneath the page when writing?
Does this folio fit a hardcover Leuchtturm1917? I ordered one for softcover notebooks but curious!
I can now confirm it fits hardcover L1917 with 250 pages quite nicely!
do you prefer this version or the one with the thick elastic closer? I'm on the verge of buying one
I do. The elastic has its place but I like this better
I personally don’t like leather products but I like a lot of the other non-leather products of galen leather. So, not for me but interesting anyway.
