An incredible man with a great talent for wonderful music, who made respect for native people, and a passionate love for life and nature. The world lost a caring soul.
Actually John was awarded the star many years ago when he was still alive. He just never scheduled the ceremony and his family decided to do it after his tragic death

John Denver was my mentor but most importantly he was my best friend who got me through rough times even though I never meet him, his songs made it feel as though I knew him well, & I still felt as though he was a big part of my life. I grew up from 6 months until the age of 13 in the mountains. I loved the mountains with all my heart and even though I had to leave there when my parents moved in 1973, John Denver kept my true home in my heart and fresh in my mind. I never missed a concert when he came to my town and when he died I feel as though a very special part of me died with him. God Bless John and I know he is up there singing with the Angels.

Christmas day, 2017, in Australia. I dreamt of John Denver out of the blue! I had unusual deep dreams last night. In the last dream I remember, I was in some type of dim post apocalyptic type city and they were handing out these 2 litre containers of detergent. The white bottle and bright packaging was in strong contrast to the monochrome scene of tall grey buildings around me, with an air of sadness everywhere. I didn’t want this 2 litre bottle of detergent, and tried to give it back and try again. But just got it again. I looked closer at it, just before I woke up, and it had a little picture of John Denver on it, and it was made by his Windstar foundation or something, under some type of…. Save The Earth, banner of things. Then I woke up. I heard his song Calypso playing in my mind. Good old John Denver. I am so grateful for everything Our Heavenly Father brought to us, of Him....through..... John Denver.....and his love of everything Heavenly and sublime. When I woke up I googled him and his foundation and they closed down in 2012. Morphed into something else. And I found a song of his, just recently released, a cover song. The Blizzard. Something I haven’t heard before. God bless John Denver. Merry Christmas to all John Denver's loved ones and all, who loved him and love him still. mwah!xxxxx 2017.

Well at least his son Zak and dear friend Joe Henry where there. Giving how private Joe is and how he seldom speaks publicly, I thought this was quite something.

Dear God! Who picked the band to sing Annie's Song. They're terrible! They sound like they all had a stroke during the song like they're all dying taking their last breath. They're out of tune, have horrible intonation and kind of ruin the moment.
Now? He is dead. Why did they not do this when he was alive. He cannot see it nor a anything else. He was not this sweet person either. He he had a horrible temper.
Well... He was human, like everyone of us. Maybe he had a horrible temper, but he had a good heart too. I believe we are a mix of things, bad and good, dark and light... But in sum he spread love in the world, and so many people was and still is inspired to be better because of him. His legacy it's what matters to me, and that star on the WFHWF is just another way to give him a place between all those who made something good to make this world better.
Apparently Jerry Weintraub paid for John's star decades ago, while John was still alive. John just never got around to scheduling the ceremony in. From that, I take it John wasn't fussed about the star.
@@Claudia-tk8gs Beautifully articulated! Thanks for sharing! 😃 Such a gift and he had so many positive qualities... But alas he was human like the rest of us and was flawed. And we make mistakes (sometimes big ones!) in life. I've seen commentary here and there that John Denver lead a dark, unhappy life (not what he presented to the fans) and some comments concluding therefore he was a fake and other awful terms. However, I believe most fans understand what he stood for and that it was genuine. AND that he was a flawed and imperfect like we all are. (It didn't help that he seemingly was put on this perfect pedestal). He did a lot of good...
