The acting and the writing has made the most horrific and disturbing character who I genuinely feel sorry for even though he so vile.
Homelander wasn't happy with Stormfront's idea of no public adoration. Maeve knew his weakness. He still wants to be loved by people.
Yeah, it's the last thing he has left now that the Seven resent him and Stormfront and Ryan are gone.

When Butcher picked Ryan up in his arms and slowly walked past Homelander without making eye contact, I felt a chill run down my spine.

She's basically totally out of it and has some sort of "life flashing before her eyes" experience. The German's kind of wonky though. Well, the actress isn't German so we get that a lot :D

I came to a really interesting realization. The whole point of Ryan being hidden away with Becca was to keep him from becoming another Homelander, and it was working, but as soon as Homelander entered the picture, Ryan was being exposed to hate and anger. Homelander was trying to get Ryan to use his powers, almost forcing him to use them. This is exactly why Homelander is the way he is, he didn't have parents, and his "parents" (the doctors) forced him to use his powers and he grew up knowing hate and anger. It's also the same reason why Butcher can't raise him. Butcher is a man on a warpath created by hate and anger, only difference is he knows that he is, hence why is gives Ryan up to the CIA. It's the only way to protect from both Homelander and himself.
Thing is, Homelander seemed like he would make a pretty good father with Stormfront out of the picture. I know he's a giant dick and psychotic murderer but I couldn't help and feel bad for him this episode.

You can see that he relates and understands the struggles Ryan is going through and is a lot better father than most people think

I mean to be fair, even if I remember it I don’t know the extent of her power. One thing heal a laceration wound, another is broken neck and spine
I just assumed that Kimiko could only heal/regenerate from life threatening injuries/brink of death. Since a neck break is usually instantaneous death, I thought she wouldn't be able to heal from it. I didn't see the extent of her injuries from her battle with Black Noir, but I thought she was dying, not dead.
I was like "oh, she will be fine, she is Wolverine!". Maeve can appear out of nowhere though
@@danzansandeev6033 I mean that "laceration wound" was done with a giant knife being pulled up through the guts and chest. She was healing multiple organs, nerves, arteries etc. Seems like a small jump from that to a spinal cord.

Feelings over logic taking over.
Homelander is afraid of being alone. That's why Maeve changed his mind. He was raised alone, no family. And if he becomes a villian to the world's eyes, even tho the world probably couldn't kill him, he wouldn't be welcomed anywhere out of fear or hatred or both. Fame is a powerful drug/feeling. With Stormfront as he knows her, gone, all Homelander has is his millions and millions of fans who love him. Losing them scared him more than losing his son.

Homelander might be a monster and a psycho, but what the show is trying to tell us is that with a normal childhood and a normal life, Homelander most likely would've turned out just fine.

I think Homelander is stronger, faster, and more durable than Maeve. But he views her as somewhat of a equal. Like Superman and Wonder Woman, Supes would most likely beat Wonder Woman in a fight but it would take hours to do so; not seconds. And if it only takes Homelander 30 minutes to kill Maeve, Butcher and Ryan would be long gone. And the footage might still get out.
At the end of the day, Homelander is sort of lazy. And if you go into a fight lazy or without proper motivation, it rarely goes your way. I just don't think he cared enough about Ryan at that point. Ironically, Butcher and Homelander both lost their loves because of Ryan and it was Butcher who showed compassion; not Homelander.

In every hero movie, there is someone the hero loves who dies. Take every Spiderman movie. Every Batman movie. They are the REAL caracter creation point. It's when the heroe discovers that his powers have to be controlled with huge reponsabilities.

this show showed me what an amazing actor he is. i knew him from thor ragnarok, and before i watched the boys i saw a "meme" of him in a few of his roles, like lord of the rings, thor ragnarok, the boys etc. and the title said something like "I think we've all seen karl urban in some movie or show without knowing it". after watching the boys, i watched thor ragnarok again and man this dude can act. he can really go from funny side character to supecunt killing trenchcoatbadass and looks different every time. simply amazing.

"Why wouldn't he take out Maeve?" - Homelander and Maeve have been great friends for a long time, and Homelander obsesses over her like he did with the one chick from season 1. they even used to date. Homelander isn't a one dimensional villain who just kills everyone. He has mental issues stemming from his childhood. he didn't even want to use his powers when he was little.

The implication of her threat is that the video will be released by someone (eg a secret partner) if anything happens to Maeve, Elena, Starlight etc. We don't know if she was bluffing but Homelander clearly believed this to be true.
Maeve got the video from someone( I think deep gave her), so that means there's another source of the said video and deep knows too .
That means there can be 300 more copies digitally. Anybody can leak it Anytime, too much risk

We don't know her power exactly. Like yeah, she can snipe heads using her eye, but from how far away ? Can it go through helmets? Through supe heads?
When she sniped the church guy, she was close by, even in the conference and probably when that CIA lady got popped too. the glass didn't shatter, so it's probably an Electro magnetic pulse/ radiation like homelanders laser, which means if you're inside a faradays cage, you'll be fine
Usually in stories when someone blackmails someone to "release the tape" they have a failsafe to get it released in case they get killed... It's such a common trope that I just assumed that was the case, I didn't feel like it needed to be said outright to Homelander.
Although I do believe Maeve mentioned that was the plan in a previous episode.
i never make any kind of assumptions, especially with a show like this. we are dealing with Superhero who have made nothing but poor judgement calls since they've been introduced.
i mean Maeve would have had a second copy of that video...
At the very least. It wasn't her video and she's transferred it to a different phone, so there's at least a central copy.

Remember the very *first* time Maeve met "The Boys", for real, is when she started beating up Storm Front. There was no time to make such a deal. Of course, Elena *knows* about the video, so there is that angle -- but Homelander might go after her as well as a matter of "tying up loose ends"
The real reason Homelander didn't kill Maeve, is because he didn't *KNOW* what contingencies she made about the video. If she died, maybe some random confident would upload the video. Indeed, more than likely Maeve just gambled that he would not call her on it, and she probably had no contingency. She was spurred into action because of the Storm Front revelations, and thus would not have had time to set up any contingency plan.
Of course Maeve still owes the Deep for the video. And Cindy is still free. Edgar didn't get what he wanted with respect to Ryan. So there's plenty for a season 3.
Yeah, or have a contingency plan. Like, a timer that if she does not disable by a certain time, automatically send the video to the press.

Yes, obviously they know that. What they're saying is Maeve said SHE would leak it if he did anything, not that she had a way to leak it even if she were dead. Maeve made it sound like she had the information and she personally would release it. I think we're meant to think she has a way of leaking it even if she can't do it herself.
Its the weakest part of the story.
Homelander has no reason to not just kill her and get his son and fly away.
Nobody is going to stop him and he can always just LIE like he always does.
Its just a random video and they can quite easily claim its fake anyway.
If Maeve would die, Foggy Farrow would leak the video. Homelander is aware of this.

@@jellalfernandes1309 As bad as D&D are with original material, I think we need to remember the entire scope of Thrones, not just the last season, maybe parts of season 7 as well. D&D did plenty of great season finales. The season 6 finale is the best episode of television that's ever been made. The problem is they fucked up the SERIES finale, not the season finale. Which is a huge problem for shows in general. A lot of people have problems with endings. Almost no drama has a good ending, because it's really hard to neatly tie everything up.

Also, the scene of Homelander doing "that" is...sad and pretty messed up, he basically lost control of everything, the seven, his son, his girlfriend, so he is actually trying to reaffirm that he's still able to do anything he wants even if we know that Vough controls him

Stan is shown as a smart smart man. A smart man plays the game on more than one front so that he has success in atleast one front. Here also, Edgar was playing on multiple fronts. He got his biggest success by getting his people in the government.
it's great that Edgar is a genius but I wish they wouldn't have given the role to Giancarlo because it's too similar of a role to his Gus Fring. I can't help but think I'm watching BCS or BB when I'm watching Edgar's scenes. it would've been more interesting to see Giancarlo as a comical or comedian character in this show.

I literally just made the connection that the reason the kid was able to laser eye Stormfront and wasn’t able to use his powers back when they were practicing was because he didn’t hate anyone when he was practicing. When he saw stormfront choking his mom he hated her.

Theory: Victoria is employed by Vought to be an opposing side. Though it produces conflict, through the conflict it produces more money, publicity and allows them to control both sides of the narrative and have that much more influence over the public. And, if this theory is proven true, the season just ended with almost everyone in Vought’s pocket. (The supes and the Boys via Hughie joining Victoria’s campaign and if the rest of the Boys end up joining Mallory’s new operation which is being funded by Victoria) but then again, anything can happen in season 3 and Maeve and Starfire may pull something off on the inside.

In reference to the Mallory operation: Keeping tabs on rouge supes that can hurt the company or product in general is just a plus for vought. It is a off-the-book operation lead by Mallory and it gives Vought the ability to control the narrative on how they "write of" the supes that is brought down by Mallory's operation. Since it is off the book, nothing they do can go public as it ruins the operation, and thus it gives Vought complete power to run the narrative.
My guess is that Victoria will run for president as that gives Vought complete control over both sides of the coin if she wins. She has to be working for Vought, as they are the only ones with access to compound V.
i think she's absolutely Vought's mole. she's Vought's long game to control the govt.
In terms of Maeve, the only thing I can think of is that he truly doesn't want to hurt her.
Crazy theory, what if Cindy is Neuman's daughter with their powers being so similar and she kept mentioning that she had a daughter in the show. Which could also explain why she would work for Edgar, if her daughter was being held hostage she could have made a deal to get her back....
Not really all that similar as far as we know. Cindy has more of a telekinetic thing all together, while Neuman was only shown to have the head exploding

As far as the scene with Maeve, why didn't he kill her. He had just lost two women important in his life, and I don't think he was ready to lose a third. I think that it is because she was Maeve, she was in his life for a very long time, if he did, he would be alone, and in that moment, that was probably more terrifying then anything, and more important than satisfying his homicidal rage.
I also think Maeve may be harder to kill than we assume.
Maeve is so underrated in the series. She seems like she wants to do good, like Starlight. I applaud her for being in the Seven for so long and not becoming a dbag.

She can fly, cast lightning, resist obscene levels of damage, but in order for her to be eternally youthful, total cellular regeneration had to be part of the package. She'll always recover whatever damage befalls her, and be restored to her physical state at the moment Compound V first empowered her, as a nubile Nazi princess. She'll probably even get the use of her eye back, although she may want to start wearing a "peekaboo" hairstyle on that side.
I still think Stan Edgar has a chemical Compound V nullifier at his disposal, and that that's what keeps both Homelander and Stormfront from acting against him directly. What might they do indirectly is the question for Season 3.

Well remember people when Starlight met up with that one guy who can regrow his limbs and how he said they kept experimenting on him. They could've already worked his powers into the Compound V formula and that way Vought will be able to save Stormfront. Either that or she dead.

The thing about Homelander is he's constantly having to convince himself he can do whatever he wants - he doesn't really believe it. He's still held back by something, a desire to be loved/worshipped or something. That in the end is what makes him LESS dangerous than he ultimately could be.

Just that she's still talking, even when completely demolished shows the insane resilience that Compound V gives on top of indivudualized superpowers.
