String recommendations for Bari with Low G Aquila GCDA (concert) strings made for Bari tensions . I use that Aquila GCDA set that comes with a high G but I put them on in order of thickness thus giving me a low G with the thickest string included in the set. you can buy a special Log G and toss the high G included in the set and have an even fatter G string. or just put a guitar wound string on instead. Glad you like the videos...Glen Rose . Glen Rose
God Bless you mr Rose...that's exactly what I'm looking for...unfortunately my english is so basic...but I'll check your web page hoping understand enough to learn something. You can't understand how I'm happy to find your videos!
Glen I bought your Gateway to Jazz book a few years ago and found it very useful. I am interested in ukulele and I was wondering what type of ukulele is best for someone moving from guitar. Thanks Danny
Can I put low G tenor strings on a Baritone Ukulele? Your video you mention you used soprano low g strings. Is there a fear of the soprano ones breaking due to the scale length difference between soprano and baritone? so if I used Tenor Low G strings, would there be less tension and chance of breaking less?
@chasyboy1 I have a new Bari book out you might be interested in: Blues - Jazz Style for Baritone Ukulele. Get it on the Jazzy Ukulele web site if you're interested.
I'm going to buy your books but was wondering what gauge strings you are using? I have a tenor that I put a low G string and it sounds like your baritone. But I'd like to get a baritone, so should I get a tenor set for it? Looks like you are using nylon guitar strings? What brand or combination would you recommend. Thanks for your lessons. It's been super fun playing these standards.
Lovely ! glen, what did you mean that your playing a baritone uke with soprano strings ? does that mean a baritone uke tuned like a soprano-tenor size lowG C E A ? Thanks Dave
this is great but i do have one complaint... see i clicked on this thinking you were playing regular ukulele..baritone uke is completely diffrent..and putting regular strings on it and tuning it with a low G string is basically like playing a regular baritone but tuned in a diffrent key
Rootless voicings don't work on the tonic chord when you don't have a bass player! Especially if you are going to voice the 6 and 9. You are weakening the harmony with stacked 4ths like that. Just bar the 3rd fret!
Wow!!!!Jazz ukulele sound magnificent so awesome you are amazing teacher of jazz ukulele lessons I love it.
