When you do tracert, and theres a request timed out, what then? How do you troubleshoot from there, for instance you had a request timed out at the 4th hops, how do you know it's insignificant. I did the trace and I got 2 request timed out on 4 and 13.

3 years too late, but check the Ethernet cable, ensure the lights on the Ethernet connection (if any) are showing a connection and one is blinking showing data exchange. This is often a bad cable or bad Ethernet port (which could mean the adapter in the computer).
when using the tracert command,in some of the hops(3 or 4 hops even) i get 'request timed out'...is this the problem from the isp and should I make a complaint to fix it?....or is it just normal?...
The answer to this question is not straight forward. You have to determine if this happens consistently, if the hops that time out are inside or outside the ISP, and even then, those hops may be working perfectly and just blocking tracert-ping commands to them. Hope this helps.
Try turning the computers firewall off, and ping again. If this still happens, try adding your gaming computer's ip address to the demilitarized zone in your router (check your router's webpage interface for that). This may solve the problems. Regards,
I've never fixed getting a connection with ipconfig renew ive tried that for years if I couldn't get a connection never worked once. Your better off disabing in Network adapters and turning it back on.

Agreed. If you are smart / lucky / rich / whatever enough to have either Linux, BSD, or at least Windows Seven (!), then stick with it. W10 is bloated and buggy -- purely problems!
+UFO1997 That command erases the DNS entries that are stored in the computer and that could have corrupted or inaccurate information sometimes. So yes, it may help in some situations. Regards and thanks for the comment.
sergiopa2002 Even after clearing the DNS, the problem persisted. I had to change the BIOS to take over device installations, rather than the plug and play from the operating system. Also I had to disable Microsoft debug kernel network (win 8.1), and still was giving me trouble, but it was no freezing keyboard and mouse any more. At the end I had to uninstall the video call from face book

Also, I suggest you provide more information to them about your problem. Also, I humbly suggest approaching the problem with a better attitude. Screaming "my internet is broken" and demanding an immediate response may not be the best way... good luck.
+FIXER DarkHole So... check if with another computer or phone you can connect without problems to that wifi. If so, then check if you can connect to other wifi's using the problematic computer. If you can't, it may be that specific machine as you suspect and what I would suggest to do is backing up all your files first try to do all Windows 8 updates, including the optional ones related to your wifi drivers, network card, etc. If that doesn't work, you could try a "refresh" of Windows 8. If that also doesn't work, then it could be specific setting of the wifi adapter that is not working, or may also be a hardware problem... hope this helps and good luck.

A router and/or modem are necessary for your computer to connect to the internet. Without them you can't connect to the internet.

mine is a public wifi but the issue is from my win 8 pc it is doing the same on all wifi's
