Sorry, but I wouldn't live in an HOA if you paid me. OMG weeds! What a crime against humanity. This is exactly why I wouldn't live in one. I keep my yard beautifully and I don't need someone telling me to weed or anything else. We will be moving to AZ after we retire and so far we are not impressed with HOAs. Don't know what we are going to do because almost every house we call about has an HOA.

@@WiseMoveAZ I hope so! My daughter is already there and another daughter will be moving there in a couple of years. They don't mind HOAs though so they will have an easier time. My husband and I are just rebels I suppose. LOL!!!
I live in Germany and was a bit shocked. You would never be able to give that kind of power to "private" assosiations. Personally, I would be intensely worried about my neighbors utilize their membership in a Karen kind of way to get their neighborship looking like they want.
They should have HOA in communities because people just think they can park anywhere they want don't respect other people properly and that keep others out who don't like structure. Now if you have your own land and build your home you should be able to do what you want on your land.

Had a beautiful 2 acres of 30 wild..no utilities but private, with towns tax paid for them, up to 75 years..no people within sight or sound .
Would point you to areas that have removed hoas seemingly permently, but....
I think HOA overall it’s good for what is offered if you need it or use it

All the amenities you listed can pretty much be found anywhere for free.
