I have the same kind of problem on a PVC windows. A little bit scared to make the situation worst if I'm honest. Do you know ruffly how much should I budget for a professional to fix it for me ?
Many Thanks for taking the time to show video very helpfu.l Im trying to find a method to hold window whilst hinges are disconnected and easier way to take gearbox off without having to lean out of the window.(Have subscribed)
I am so happy to have found you and thanks for sharing this vital bit of professionalism. The only thing is can I please hire your services as I’m in need of help please reply. I’m a genuine customer. Thanks so much
Thanks for the help. Very good. I also have a problem with a top opening vent (like the one in your video). But the locking mechanism is a pin (like a shoot bolt on a garden gate) on either side which should retract to open the window when the handle is lifted. I can see that one side is retracting (because the window loosens on that side) but the other is not. Could you advise how to fix this type? TIA.
Weird. How do you stop it from slamming into facade? How do you catch it when it's wide open? How did you put them on the frames?! Good thing is that you have extra space on the inside :)
naughty naughty, you didn't toe and heel the sash that's why it had dropped and broke in the first place, the mitres need to line up and the lock keeps adjusted to suit if not.
I did toe and heel the window when i refitted the glass. It was edited out to shorten the video. Perhaps i should of mentioned it but was first vid ive ever made and dont always think to say these things. Have intended to make many more repair vids but never got around to it since. Toe and heeling would of been one of them.
@@EssexDoubleGlazingRepairsLtd This is the problem when making videos. So may times I edit something and think oh crap I forgot to say this or mention that.
That’s proper chap fair play to ya, I broke three Allen keys today opening a similar window tight as hell the lock mechanism was all in one tho no teeth I sweated abit more too 🙈 lol 👍👍
And you're just left with the scratched up window sill from dropping the mechanism onto and putting all your heavy metal tools on to without laying something down to protect it first 😀 Not very professional. Don't try to smile it might hurt your face 😀 cheer up! And get some polos with your company name on, it looks better.
PRO! thanks, very generous to share your time with us. I've just removed the glass, opened the window & got to the damaged lock. many thanks

No Window Sills were harmed during this video.
It`s difficult to see what you are doing.

Glad it helped. You can sometimes remove the gasket as well to loosen up the window and make a bigger gap for the alan key.

Thanks for your advice. Sometimes we all can’t be perfect. But I will take your comments on board for future reference.
