Just want to give an update to this product / review video I did because I think for most people this might be an easier solution. th-cam.com/video/7hP4uX3KdT8/w-d-xo.html
I got the X3 system about three years ago, and I love it. At the age of 78, I’ve found that the shorter bands from Serious Steel give me more tension. When I purchased the X3 belt three months ago, it sat for a while as I was focusing on front squats on the X3 Growth Hormone Vibration plate. A few weeks ago, I started using the X3 belt. I agree with the comments in this video. The belt will fry your quads. If you have a problem with balance, you can also put a chair in front of you and lightly hold on to the top. It’s a great product. I enjoy this TH-cam channel very much, and appreciate the candid reviews. Dennis Fair, Ph.D.
For those not a member of the X3 ecosystem or would rather just spend $22, I just tried using my dip belt (Bosoar Dip Belt) with a cutting board hockey puck platform which gave a similar experience without a bar at least for the regular squat if not the split squat. I attached a large carabiner to the chain of the belt and the band. The length of the chain allows adjustment of the tension. The J-hooks of the X3 belt might make it a bit easier to attach/detach from the bar/band so I may look for an extra large S-hook instead of the carabiner. Although I find getting into position with tension on the band is very hard on the back as you really can't use very good form while getting the feet in position on the board at least on the first try necessitating using lighter bands and more reps. I still find banded squats subpar and prone to tweaking back muscles.
Thank you for posting this video, I have arthritis in both my knees, and have a hard time doung split squats right now. But the second squat exercise you showed , that I can do, Now Im going to get the squat belt, thank you again for another great video.
Hey brother, I greatly appreciate all of the videos that you put together on the usage of the X3. I’m just getting going on my variable resistance training and your insights have been valuable.
After reading all these comments. I sure am excited to see a video with these on backwards, see these with TG, see these with your creative mind and coming up with something cool that works. If my legs have weakened due to age AND neglect, you feel these would be good for me. As usual TY in advance.
I've had this belt idea (squat belt with 2 hooks without bar) 2 years ago after squatting with resistance bands for a while. I have even emailed many of the popular resistance bands companies with the suggestion in hoping someone would turn it into an affordable product. It sucks that finally someone made it but it's the most expensive bands system and i can't even get it since I'm not in their system.
Was looking forward to this great review! I'm definitely getting this soon! Consider reviewing the synapse eventually. Know a couple of guys who have sold thousands in gym equipment because of the synapse is that good
I'm honestly on the fence with the Synapse. My initial gut reaction is telling me, it's not for me, but I've been wrong before. Case and point is the X3!
I tried it once, but I need to do it again. I felt a little unbalance like the board wanted to come off, but I may have been going too heavy. Thanks for watching brother.
A regular belt for weighted dips and pull-ups can serve just as well. Just attach the bands to triangular carabiners and then around the chain of the belt. Easy.
I got the Paraforce bands and found they are harder at the top of the push. But I don't like the rough ness of them as compared to SSF and the old X3s.
The more I contemplate how I can lift heavy at home without a squat rack, the more I'm seeing resistance bands as a potentially perfect solution. I've tried lighter bands for curls and shoulder raises and I love em! I want to try a 200lb band for my legs.
I bought an expensive home system that is bulky and a little too much for my age. Looks like X3 was all I needed at a fraction of the price. Buyers remorse. If you’re older and want a safe system that is all you need for the average person this looks actually pretty good.
I have the Vector squat belt, I have a funny question. I bought the Serious Steel 38" Gray loop band and using the Clench footplate. I wasn't even able to stand up using that band. Are you able to use that belt and get into a squat position? I am not a super strong guy but it made me feel pretty funny when I couldn't even stand up LOL. I appreciate all of your videos and comments, it has guided me towards some great purchases for my home gym equipment.
Thanks Jason for the question and positive comment. I think you mean their 37in, but I don't think I tried or have that one. That for sure would be a beast though. I can squat their 41 silver, but double looped in a vector belt, I don't know about that one!
Don't waste your money on this. You can do split squats holding a dumbbell using a weighted vest or holding a large container of water, and the resistance is constant through the full range of motion.
OK I'm only interested in a sqat plate (the one underneath). I already have an amazing squat harness that distributes weight through my back. I also have a similar Pilates bar.
I’m really considering this product but it seems like it has some innate potential of risk. It just feels like a slip from the bar might create a powerful slingshot to the nuts. Do you find this product 100 percent safe? thanks!
Hahaha you had me laughing as I read this. The force would more so be coming down, so if anything, you’ll be hitting your feet. The one risk that can happen is if you’re not centered enough the foot plate could potentially flying hit you.
@@hybridresistance glad to hear that you’re amused and i’m glad to hear that it’ll probably get the feet instead of being a catapult nut buster. I’ll most likely buy this then, huge thx!
Some people have complained about this but I find it's not problem. Check out this product video as I think this suit you better th-cam.com/video/7hP4uX3KdT8/w-d-xo.html
I decided to pre-order the belt from Harambe. They use carabiners where you can safely attach ropes with k rod to accommodate wide bands if you need to with no bending the band in half. The best choice for me.
Curious if this belt is useful for doing Total Gym pull ups and leg press when using weight and bands. Is it a good length to reach the TG weight bar to lock you in on those kinds of exercise?
When you do the normal squat with the belt, try to put the belt on backwards.. it will turn the hooks and put them furthe towards your back, rather than your front. It might help and make it better. Do let me know if you try it.
Well, I haven't used a belt of any brand before. But I do split squats with bands draped over my shoulders and under a plate. How does having the band attach at the waist make the exercise more difficult? Does it just allow for more consistent tension?
Yes, just basically isolates that tension right away and not holding the bar makes it easier to really get to failure without worrying about the barbell on your back.
@@hybridresistance I move my feet slightly further back than normal and stand in front of my power rack with a barbell set at chest level to hold on to slightly
Great video! Liked and subscribed 👍 I purchased my x3 bar setup on ebay and when I tried to order the squat belt online it wouldn't let me because I currently don't have an account. I am kind of bummed out about that, haha. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated because I would love to purchase one of these belts! Cheers 🎉
I only thing I can think of would be to at least reach out to their customer service and ask or see if you can get a previous x3 customer to order for you.
I did in some follow videos after this. But honestly it's just a matter of getting low enough. I do think for some people they may struggle to get into this. This product / video would probably be a better solution for most people. th-cam.com/video/7hP4uX3KdT8/w-d-xo.html

Split squats are absolutely NASTY especially with negative emphasis & statics my favorite leg movement as it's very hard on the thighs (quads-hams-glutes) but very easy on the back-lumbar spine so it's a win-win!
The stitching is very low quality. I’ve had two belts break already. The hook straps rip off under tension . If they fix the stitching, it is an excellent product.
@@hybridresistance it’s the stitching where the strap (with the orange hook ) attaches to the belt. When it works properly, it’s a great product. But that is a major flaw and twice now I’ve had a strap rip off during a set.

Hey Mike, would it be possible to squat with ACBEE handles as a substitute for a squat belt?

What length of the serious steel band do you use?
@@Radioghost717 I'm seeing they have a 32" available instead of the traditional 41" Says it's for people below 5'10

I’ve been doing this for resisted pull-ups and dips, as well as squats. I just connect the loops around the platform to the chain and I’m good to go.
5:00 oh wow I love that. That would definitely light up my legs. It's very much like a hands-free Hack squat.

I assume it would, I just can't comment on that for sure.
How well does it function hooking it up to a barbell?
It works fine, but I do stabilize it just in case with my hands
