      same, just finished writing one yesterday; it wasn't that bad to be honest, the worst question was to inverse every 4 nodes in a linked list (like [A]->[B]->[C]->[D] to [D]->[C]->[B]->[A]), the problem itself was not knowing how to do it but rather being able to tell how much more space you are going to need, had to rewrite the entire function on another paper and cross out the old one since it was all over the place; also it's very important to always double check for semi colons and the number of curlies; it was interesting tho, really made me appreciate the luxury of coding in an IDE such as clion that does half the job for you

    I had CS classes where they allowed us to have Internet access, Google, StackOverflow, etc., and even open up our lecture notes during exams. The thing is, those courses are the scarier ones since you actually need to think hard through the concepts and perform higher-order synthesis. Usually for those classes, the answers cannot be found anywhere on Google (or in our lecture notes, for that matter). On the other hand, it’s from those courses that I actually learn insightful stuff (instead of some useless content regurgitation), so no negative complaints from me haha

We use 3-4 different languages each semester how the hell am I supposed to get the syntax correct each time? The part with the semicolons was especially relatable. Even more relatable since we are also using python and java this year.

      Ehhh, with comedy things get exaggerated to make it more funny. If you want to get into programming and CS, go for it! The classes are designed to take people who have never wrote a single line of code into capable programmers.
      It can be stressful, frustrating, and very difficult at times, but I think you would find that every subject has their moments like that.
      If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask! I recently graduated in computer science so I’d love to help out if I can alleviate any worries, because I know how intimidating it can be.

  • @jlaplace6359
    @jlaplace6359 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I was a student TA for a c++ course and I can confirm grading paper exams is also a lot of effort, especially if there's a lot of long answer/coding questions.
    There always a few students who wrote their answers like contemporary art, and some other few who did not bring an eraser so they just improvise with strikethroughs and arrows. (can't blame really them tho, the exam has time limits) It is written in the rubric that we can deduct points if the handwiring is too ugly or unrecognizable, but we don't deduct those points until we ask each other and find that nobody can decipher that writing.
    The part about partial credits is dead-on. In my case the rubric does not care much about semicons or brackets, and we assume using namespace std; But memory mistakes like writing "string s" instead of "const string &s" still count as point deductions.

    • @jlaplace6359
      @jlaplace6359 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Moonlight It's ok. It's good to study before exams but please don't push yourself too hard. It is important to balance work & rest so there is energy left for the actual exam.
      If you feel too much anxiery before exams that you cannot sleep (or cannot stop studying, etc.) you might want to talk to someone and/or get a hug. Hug works well for me when I panic before exams, so do study groups.
      All the best for your exams, and your health. Your hard work will be worth it
