@YellowFever72 hmm I am not too sure... you mean the aluminum thin thing, I think I know what u r talking about... no I never replace one... it's still in good condition.. no crack, not broken or anything so it's good
@HEELINGFREE oh yeah I understand, yeah take your time to take pics will be good to see! yes you can add text in the video.. easy to do Thanks for hitting me up, looking forward for tomorrow :) Have a good night!
Hi, On the flat side (the inside) of the cover there are the hooks projecting inward. They are uniform and don''t look like just random tears in the metal. I will take the covers off tomorrow and take a photo of it. I really appreciate your help. I'll also see if I can add text to the video on there. My best, Harold PS THanks for the friends invite. More than happy to.
Just had an idea. I changed the rear brake pads. They work fine. Do I have to readjust the parking brake? Yesterday, when I started it up, the real wheel was locked up. Finally got it to turn. I think I will check that before taking the covers off again. Did you find out what kind of grease you used? If the brake thing isn't it, I'll take the covers off and show you the hooks. My best, Harold.
@cagliari79 wow bummer :( I guess u picked up a bad burgman, not all burgman have the same problem.. I have almost 34,000 miles on it and doing very good.. everything stock but with leo vince exhaust, iridium spark plug, and dr pulley sliders. On friday I am leaving for Florida so will put maybe 3,500 miles on the bike on the trip.
@HEELINGFREE I think your brakes r ok, it's clutch shoes fault... thank you for the video!! I had no idea about hooks... there r supposed to not be like that... something broke, I am surprised... is it under the warranty? suzuki should get it fixed for free... when you take the clutch shoes off, bring it to suzuki shop to show them! :) I hope things will work out good
Hi thanks for your prompt reply. I made a short video that I'm uploading to show where the hooks are. I am using a dog dish. I didn't grease anything because the bearing on the aluminum housing moved easily. Do you use the offical Suzuki Super greae A? I'll post the link here as soon as it is loaded. Should be about 12 minutes, it says. Harold
Hi Mick............a question from Holland........how your dutch?..........great video' s...........my question is I have put dr pulley sliders on my burgman 400 2009.........result a little less rev's at 100-110 km and the moment of grip when driving off is a bit later so more rev's...........now I have put 18gram in..............what happens if I put 19 or 20 grams..........I get all sort of different answers.............the rest of the cvt is stock Suzuki..........thanks gr Tony
@oymeit far as you can and it will push the cover off a little bit... I have video of me doing that on my friend's burgman, I will be home tomorrow night and try to remember to edit and post it
My ex-burgman 400 k7 suffered from the clutch. Shots at the start and up to 40 km / h vibrations from these absurd to vibrate the mirrors. In the city could not use. All due to the clutch, replaced 3 times under warranty, but always gave problems.
Hello Mic, I removed the outer cover, the filter, the outer cover with the ten screws but I cannot remove the inner cover that houses the CVT, the belt, etc.. I marked all ten screws and took them out. How in the world do you take this cover off? I have used a rubber mallet to be on the safe side but feel I have done so much now this part won't budge. Do you have any suggestions? Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thanks again, Ernest AECG of NY.
Many thanks for your great videos. Did the final drive oil change and put everything back together. I'm getting a slight grinding noise. Took the aluminum cover off. Had to use the 2 bolts to push it off. When I turn the wheel the grinding noise seems to be coming from the outer steel clutch housing. I noticed that yours is smooth on the inside, mine has 4 (I think) bent over hooks on the inside. Any ideas? Thanks, Harold Hansen aka Heelingfree
Hallo Mitch......habe den 400 er burgman k7.........habe mallossi rollen 21 gramm.......welche farbe hat die grosse kupplungsfeder? blau oder gelb? gruss Ralf from Germany....
01 - 09 seconds, Hi this is Harold, this is a dog dish. 10 - 16 I can’t take the real cover off tonight. 17 - 21 You have take the aluminum cover off 22- 25 This is the one in the back with the shaft coming out 27 - 30 I didn’t get the grease. 31 - 41 Anyway, you have the shaft and the nut and the holes where you use your removal tool. 42- 47 When you reach inside here I’m going to turn it around, again this is just a stainless steel dog dish
@HEELINGFREE I am going to be at my friend's house tonight who has my Y shape tool so I will post the video of it with measure tape. Not home till tomorrow and will tell what grease I am using, sorry
@cagliari79 thank you! yeah it gets hot but it's normal.. but what kind of problems? My clutch bell got little overheating with color purple and blue but not bad..
Hi MicBergsma, thank you for this video. According to your experience, can the piece at 3:15 break and cause a loud noise, a traction loss and a complete stop (the engine still works)? Thank you again!
Hi, I posted the script on my video page, Heelingfree. I used your video about replacing the rear pads. Got that done, do you have to do anything to recalibrate the parking brake? Thanks, Harold
Hi Mic, Do you have the measurements of the Y shaped device you use to remove and put on the rear clutch? I tried getting it off but keep living the whole rear end up. Also wonder if you found the name of the grease you use on the rear bearing. Thanks, Harold
Hi Mic, Shot a very short video. It isn't the cover, but what is behind it. I am posting the video on heelingfree. Can't figure out how it happened. The title of the video is "Clutch is ripped up." Harold
Mic, How far in do i screw the bolts in so that the cover comes off? Its that how to get off? Do the screws push the cover out as you screw them in or not? thanks for your help.
Mic, I need your help, I can't get the metal cover off, the one with the 10 bolts you number in the video. I think thats the crankcase cover? Im not sure if thats what its called. Anyway, its really tight and I put two bolts in the front holes to pull on but still it won't come off. Can you help me? Please. I want to do a final drive oil change and I'm stuck cause that cover won't come off. Thank you.
@micbergsma they would solve most problems if instead of a dry clutch there was a clutch in an oil bath, as for the T-max or the Burgman 650 Happy holidays, take lots of pictures! Especially the girls!!!
Hello Micbergsma, I have a 2007 Burgman 400 with only 4100 miles on it and it seems to have the belt squealing issue and the low speed shutter like it is not engaging right or slipping. Sounds like that is a problem for this year Burgman. Do you know what the fix is? Is it most likely dirty rollers or a glazed clutch?
49 - 53 So when you reach inside here 54 - 59 so instead of this being smooth, there are hooks on the inside surface 60 - 1:16 in yours this surface seems smooth, on mine there are hooks sticking outit.
@HEELINGFREE oops... sorry I dont really mention that I'm hearing impaired haha.. I watched your video and tried to figure out what u r doing with it..
How about! I've made the change of the drive motorbike and the CVT spring and now is that when I take a sharp turn, the bike turn off, show FI fails and returns to work. What could it be? We thought that we could pry the ignition damage but are not sure. Please is a emergency for me because my car also crash and i need my burg man !!! xD xD
not sure if you figured this out - looks like you asked 2yrs ago - but if you are certain all the screws were removed - you must use a thin edged wedge and start separating the housing by prying - but only pry a little bit at a time and make sure you work it around the entire casing - there are a couple of pins (one top left and one bottom right) which still connect the two like dowels - also, the bearing for the flywheel seats in the casing so you must pull the casing straight out - it is a b*tch - working back and forth so you don't damage anything - when prying you must pry directly on the edges - not outward or you will break the cast housing - also last note be careful when prying about the metal seal between the outer and inner casing - it is easily damaged and isn't stocked at shops so you have to order a replacement if you damage it... Best of luck
Hello Mitch, it's Ernest of AECG of NY. Can you please give me the dimensions of the clutch sleeve hub holder too so I can make one rather than purchasing it at Suzuki for $200.00. I want to change out the belt and check the rollers to see if they are worn. Your past help has been a very tremendous asset to me. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
@yav1is Hi Josef, sounds good! :) That is really cool, I don't really have club here but we have forum called burgmanusa I know many people on there and met 5 of them in real life. I have some real friends with burgman 400 and 650 :) the belt here $150-170
I don't think I can post the link but go to Heelingfree and look. I will make it public. Take me a minute or two. I guess I could have uploaded it here. Sorry.

Do you have to use a rotor holder and breaker bar or can you use an impact wrench for that part too?
both can do the job, I prefer to tight the nut with torque wrench during the installation... impact wrench for removal
