Well technically you do have a rematch against Wallace but he has his champion team instead but his character class changed from gym leader to sootopolitan.

The game didn't have any real challenge in the first place. Having to grind in order to have levels on par with others is not challenging, it's annoying. Exp. Share just takes the annoyance away.

The music is eargasmic, but I hate how they tried to stick to just R/S for the most part instead of Emerald. This is also reflected in the gym leader teams. They were much, much better in Emerald. The only change here is that Flannery replaced her second Slugma with a Numel.
Well it's is called Omega RUBY. If they were doing emerald they would have called it differently. It's just like when they remade silver and gold into Soul Silver and heart gold they didn't do Crystal.
Why does no one like this piece? Its my favorite in the game! What I loved about this game was it kept the old generic battle soundtracks, but revamped them nicely enough to make me feel fresh.
Took me until Wattson to realize it, but this is definitely my favorite song in OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire and my favorite gym leader song of all time (previously was the Gen. 4 gym leader music). That is really, really saying something, because the original version of this song was my LEAST favorite gym leader song by a large margin. The OR/AS version just perfectly captures the feeling of battling a gym leader; they aren't bad guys so it isn't necessarily a scary fight per se, but they are masters of their art, so it is kind of like an examination before a teacher or judge or some sort of other superior, and the song carries that sense of awe and intimidation. I think the Norman battle exemplifies that the best. Going up against my own father and his regal and intimidating Slaking, scrambling to switch between Pokemon and heal them up between blows so I could prove myself as a capable trainer to my dad... Man, it sent shivers up my spine. Also, 1:05-1:16 is like the best thing ever if you are wearing headphones. But it has to be said: that Volt Switch Magneton was the worst thing I have come across in the hands of a Gym Leader since Whitney's Miltank.

Smart man (or woman). The Colosseum version was probably the strongest of the remixes of this song, especially with the part at 1:01. but this version did that part well too. The strings make it better in my opinion.

Disagreed. Colosseums version was very good, but this song captures the magic of the original perfectly, and is overall more epic and pleasing to hear. No disrespect to colosseums though. I love the unique parts it added in that version, as well as those drums.
This song quite literally, SCREAMS "Gym Leader". Not some scary battle theme, or something intense, just encouraging and powerful, as if to say "You've made it this far, lets see what you've learned." Thats why THIS imo is the best Gym Theme.
Nostalgia didn't influence me (didn't own originals) but these gym leaders are a real interesting bunch. Even more so that you get to see them even after the battles. Here's my experience: Roxanne: Treecko and Lombre takedown Brawly: Grovyle (I think) and Lombre takedown Wattson: Other than Grovyle I forgot who else I used Flannery: Lombre sweep Norman: Took the work of everybody to stop me from blacking out Winona: Mightyena and M-Sceptile takedown (Mightyena had Thunder Fang) Tate/Liza: Sceptile and Lombre takedown Wallace: Sceptile takedown Used the same team through the whole story other than one
Deso Lark Idk man, that's all your opinion. I like both themes, it's just that the Gym Leaders from X/Y was just, easy. Don't get me wrong, I loved X/Y's Leader music, but they weren't much of a challenge as these were. Now Norman on the other hand, good god that Slaking, he had two, TWO! Anyway, I love both games, none of them are horrible, their plots were amazing, just perfect.

Screw Wallace. Screw him. His gym battle is the only one in this game to have given me real trouble, underleveled or overleveled with traded teams or not. Milotic, Whiscash, and even Seaking of all things kicked my butt. Don't even get me started on the Elite 4 and how rough that was...

Gen 2 had a couple of good songs, I simply didn't like gen 1's music, and gen 6's music didn't fit in my opinion. I also absolutely love d/p/pt's music, I think it's super jazzy and catchy.
Agreed with Gen 4. Route 209 is one of my favorites of all time, and it has the most badass Champion encounter and battle themes. Gen 2 has 2 gyms in the form of the Surf theme and National Park. Gen 1 has the 2nd best Gym Leader theme (behind this one), and Gen 3 and 5 are solid all-around. Gen 6 was oddly electronic, when it should have been more classy and fitting for France.
Luna Ami Alola beats all others for best and most fleshed-out region. It feels like a region that has gotten the formula right when considering there has been 6 previous attempts. Gen 5 was a great representation of New York and very exciting, but didn't really shake things up much.
Hoenn Gym Leaders: Really really likes rocks Super chill dude who likes fighting types Dude that's not afraid to give you a shock Passionate about red hot fire types Your dad Likes to soar the air with the easiest of grace The Psychic Sidekicks juan.
I loved Red/Blue, Gold/Silver's soundtracks, and their gym themes especially. I always had a sense of tension and urgency to win with them, but this theme complimented so well with the battles. Some of the most real battle I ever had were with this theme, whether it was against, Roxannes Nosepass, or Winona's Altaria, or Wallace's Milotic. This song sums up, "give it your all" in a gym battle, especially when I was 10 way back.
I wish Juan had appeared. I mean, if they weren't going to remake emerald, then at least acknowledge it exists! (cough cough battle frontier cough cough)

I'm one of the few people who don't enjoy the mega because it seems so illogical to be letting a speedy dragon jet use wibbly-wobbly Psychic moves. It would be significantly more reasonable if they became Dragon/Flying after mega evolving. I seriously want STAB-Flying type attacks on both. I stuck with my Mega Glalie.
Steven Stone Dragon flying? terrible type combination. Look at Rayquaza, people always spam bloody ice moves on ii, the only thing saving it now is Delta Stream but apart from that it's still a poor Pokemon overall as far as its weakness goes or at least i think it is.
***** Except it has amazing attack stats, so it usually doesn't need to worry about defense. Ice move users, or at least the ice types themselves, usually aren't all that fast.

Took me until Wattson to realize it, but this is definitely my favorite song in OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire and my favorite gym leader song of all time (previously was the Gen. 4 gym leader music). That is really, really saying something, because the original version of this song was my LEAST favorite gym leader song by a large margin. The OR/AS version just perfectly captures the feeling of battling a gym leader; they aren't bad guys so it isn't necessarily a scary fight per se, but they are masters of their art, so it is kind of like an examination before a teacher or judge or some sort of other superior, and the song carries that sense of awe and intimidation. I think the Norman battle exemplifies that the best. Going up against my own father and his regal and intimidating Slaking, scrambling to switch between Pokemon and heal them up between blows so I could prove myself as a capable trainer to my dad... Man, it sent shivers up my spine. Also, 1:05-1:16 is like the best thing ever if you are wearing headphones.
But it has to be said: that Volt Switch Magneton was the worst thing I have come across in the hands of a Gym Leader since Whitney's Miltank.
Well, I liked the original version just as much as I do this one but I agree with the rest of what you're saying.
I'm sure they wanted you to feel this way from the start, seeing as how Roxanne was the teacher of the Trainer School.
I personally prefer the Johto gym leader battle theme, it sounds a bit more fitting to me. But this one is a very close second.

Disagreed. Colosseums version was very good, but this song captures the magic of the original perfectly, and is overall more epic and pleasing to hear. No disrespect to colosseums though. I love the unique parts it added in that version, as well as those drums.
This song quite literally, SCREAMS "Gym Leader". Not some scary battle theme, or something intense, just encouraging and powerful, as if to say "You've made it this far, lets see what you've learned." Thats why THIS imo is the best Gym Theme.

Nostalgia didn't influence me (didn't own originals) but these gym leaders are a real interesting bunch. Even more so that you get to see them even after the battles. Here's my experience:

Don't get me wrong, I loved X/Y's Leader music, but they weren't much of a challenge as these were. Now Norman on the other hand, good god that Slaking, he had two, TWO! Anyway, I love both games, none of them are horrible, their plots were amazing, just perfect.
Years later and I think ORAS is an amazing remake and standalone game. Just wish they'd keep some features from Emerald. At least it's better than BDSP. This version of the Gym Leader is fire

Screw Wallace. Screw him. His gym battle is the only one in this game to have given me real trouble, underleveled or overleveled with traded teams or not. Milotic, Whiscash, and even Seaking of all things kicked my butt. Don't even get me started on the Elite 4 and how rough that was...

Agreed with Gen 4. Route 209 is one of my favorites of all time, and it has the most badass Champion encounter and battle themes. Gen 2 has 2 gyms in the form of the Surf theme and National Park. Gen 1 has the 2nd best Gym Leader theme (behind this one), and Gen 3 and 5 are solid all-around. Gen 6 was oddly electronic, when it should have been more classy and fitting for France.

Luna Ami Alola beats all others for best and most fleshed-out region. It feels like a region that has gotten the formula right when considering there has been 6 previous attempts. Gen 5 was a great representation of New York and very exciting, but didn't really shake things up much.
You wonder if the piano will be prominent if they make a revamp for the Sinnoh series.

Why did it stand out to you?
I loved Red/Blue, Gold/Silver's soundtracks, and their gym themes especially. I always had a sense of tension and urgency to win with them, but this theme complimented so well with the battles. Some of the most real battle I ever had were with this theme, whether it was against, Roxannes Nosepass, or Winona's Altaria, or Wallace's Milotic. This song sums up, "give it your all" in a gym battle, especially when I was 10 way back.

I'm one of the few people who don't enjoy the mega because it seems so illogical to be letting a speedy dragon jet use wibbly-wobbly Psychic moves. It would be significantly more reasonable if they became Dragon/Flying after mega evolving. I seriously want STAB-Flying type attacks on both. I stuck with my Mega Glalie.
Steven Stone Dragon flying? terrible type combination. Look at Rayquaza, people always spam bloody ice moves on ii, the only thing saving it now is Delta Stream but apart from that it's still a poor Pokemon overall as far as its weakness goes or at least i think it is.
***** Except it has amazing attack stats, so it usually doesn't need to worry about defense. Ice move users, or at least the ice types themselves, usually aren't all that fast.
