Plus real history is so upsetting that people will just choose to believe in the literal fantasies they saw on tv rather then deal with the reality. Take the abortion debate. We had a thing called orphan trains up until the 1940s, where the govt would take kids as young as 5 around the country and offer them as free live in laborers to farmers with no oversight to make sure the farmer wouldn't fuck them or whore them out or work them to death which of course they did. And what's crazy was around 25% of these kids had at least one living parent. Unfortunately, parents couldn't afford to feed all the kids that come when birth control is throwing your wife down the stairs twice a month so they would give them up to the state and heaven forbid the govt created only to guarantee property rights for robber barrons spend a dime on caring for the spawn of peasants. Rather, they passed these kids out like party favors for a nambla office event! That's the reality of small govt that all these libertarians *really* want to go back to! Incels aren't a thing when all you need is plot of land and a hut and the govt will literally give you free children to do with as you please! But yeah, its abortion that's the real crime (at least it is when the procedure cuts down on the pool of unwanted kids for chuds to use as sex slaves)!

The culture is run by people this age who think that the cartoons/movies/comics/etc. from their 1980s childhood were the pinnacle of human expression. In the early/mid 2010s maybe the most popular meme format was "We're almost at the date Michael J. Fox went to in Back to the Future II... how come we don't have flying cars yet haha!" Musk is the capitalist who ran with that aesthetic the most. The financial establishment desperately needs figures like this so that rather than risk any meaningful changes, they can kick the can down the road as far down the road as possible re: climate change and then deploy some half-baked technological intervention under the guise of "see, we told you the free market will always come up with a solution to any problem."

I've never been on twitter but I think it might be time to start.
I was thinking of starting an account about how much I love transgender people. I was banned a while back for fighting literal Nazis and got caught by the dumb algorithm. But I doubt it's worth it, it's gonna be a cesspoll very quickly I'd wager.

Hope Chris in his bountiful largesse releases the whole EP, it was a good one. The RW critique here isn't particularly different from many libertarian views on the other side. the difference is that the way you interact on a digital platform is entierly different then in real life. Mainly, digital platforms tends to foster interpassivity and just generally orchestrates discourse in a way that makes conversations go nowhere.

1) The internet becomes a time- and energy-suck in itself because these products are designed to be as addictive as possible, diverting human energy away from organizing within our own communities in practical ways that would strengthen local solidarity
2) It tends to foster echo chambers, and spaces where people over-estimate their own strength and underestimate the strength of their political opponents,
3) Completely unaccountable corporations control "The Algorithm" of whatever platform you use. Source code you will never get to read determines whose speech pops up in people's feeds, and whose speech gets buried in obscurity.
4)The lack of in-person interaction fosters an interactive style that is far more abrasive towards people who disagree with you, which feeds into the echo-chamber effect as groups pile on to dissident opinions within their own ranks ("canceling" etc)
