Crosby the best all-around player in the NHL still at 34 years old. Difference between him and Ovechkin is, Ovi just a pure goal scorer. Like an NBA player that makes consistent 3point shots, Ovi always in the slot and has a wicked shot. Crosby on the other hand can do it all, and is a leader both on and off the ice. Ovi a one trick pony most of the time. If 87 didn't miss like 200+ games due to getting concussions from goons in the league he'd have way more points total than Ovi. One season he was on pace for 140points. Only McDavid doing that level now. McDavid just can't win any cups.
Crosby is nowhere near the best all round player in the NHL anymore, players like Matthews, Barkov, Makar etc are more elite 2 way players, all elite offensively and defensively, Crosby is still elite offensively but his defence is about league average now
To see this guys brilliance you have to watch him skate and pass. He still scores with the best but that is secondary. There is a channel out here that makes highlights on every one of the aspects of hockey...one is passing, the next is backhand, the next is skating. Crosby is an established great, top 5 in history for many people and McDavid is coming.
the Ja of hockey is Trevor Zegras, the Lebron of hockey Sidney Crosby, the Kobe of hockey is Mario Lemieux, the MJ of hockey is Wayne Gretzky, the Magic of hockey is Gordie Howe
#1 the game didn’t matter but if you try a 1 handed back hander it’s so incredibly hard to elevate the puck. It’s one thing to do it in practice but to do it in the middle of a game with defensemen? Pressuring you? That’s beyond incredible

Crosby is still playing. He started at 18 in 2005. He’ll be 35 this summer and is still good. Not as fast as he used to be but still is a heckuva player. He has had a number of injuries so he would have even more goals and assists than he has but is incredibly smart and is more of a playmaker than pure goal scorer. That #1 goal isn’t fancy but it is incredibly hard to do with just one hand and doing it backhanded. I was at the game where he batted the puck in…goal #3. It was incredible. To bat it up in the air and hit it in while skating…man, it’s hard to do. He has some amazing videos out there. Try Edgework and Puck Protection. McDavid is playing now and is younger and faster but doesn’t make the plays that Sid does. Ovechkin is a great player too, has more goals but doesn’t make the plays Sid does. Austin Matthews is good too and Nathan MacKinnon. I really urge you to watch some of Sid’s videos though. He’s pretty fantastic. Good reaction Matt.
One handed shots are extremely hard. One handed wrist shot with the WEAK hand is near impossible. From a former hockey player, I can attest to how difficult the one handed shot is. Also, everyone needs to stop with these comparisons with players. Crosby is what he his, he plays like no other. Same with McDavid and Matthews. The older generations like Jagr play like no other because they are unique. Lemieux and Gretsky play like no other because of certain traits. Compare stats all you like but you cannot compare what they did on and off the ice to each other because of how unique of a player they were. Let these player grow into their own legends and enjoy what they do because 99% of those watching will never achieve the level of greatness that they have.
Imagine taking a 3 pointer with your arms fully extended and only using your hands and figures to shoot the ball. That's what a one handed backhander is like.
#1 doesn't look super flashy but that is really really tough. Try raising the puck with a one handed backhand and see how hard it is. Let alone going as fast as he is while holding off two defenders.
Crosby was drafted in 2005. He's still playing and he's still awesome. I know a lot of people see Connor McDavid as the best player in hockey right now, but in my opinion it's Crosby. He's been in the league a long time and has proven his greatness year after year. Plus he's won 3 Stanley Cups (2009,2016&2017) & McDavid has yet to win one. Crosby is more than a great player, he's a great leader & a huge philanthropist. If you can't tell, I'm a huge Penguins fan & a big fan of Crosby.
Crosby was the best in the league for years and mcdavids favourite player growing up. Connor wears 97 for his birthyear the same way crosby wears 87 for his
Mcdavid = lebron Crosby = kobe The comparisons arent 1 to 1 as there is a 10 year gap between crosby and mcdavid Really excited to see the matthews video hes my favourite player and the best goal scorer in the league right now. If youre talking about Ja morant the closest thing is probably someone like Zegras
Number one is number one because beating an NHL goalie with a one handed, backhand wrist shot, is a one in a million occurrence. Batting the puck out of the air is difficult but I suck, and even I manage to do it every now and then.
ive been playing hockey for 17 years CUH and you really dont understand how hard it is to LIFT the puck one handed. its damn near impossible without years of practice. it really is mad difficult.
Gretzky is the Jordan of Hockey. Played during the same time too. Crosby came into the league touted as the next Gretzky kinda like Kobe to Jordan, however Crosby is still playing and is still one of the best players in the league. McDavid was the next Gretzky after Crosby and also is currently playing but he’s younger and currently the best in the world. There’s lots of greats but the only other you need to know as a basic 101 is Gordie Howe. He played before Gretzky but he is called Mr. Hockey for a reason. Keep expanding your knowledge. Respect.
Damn I had typed a Novel and a half but my phone died and it’s gone. Worst part is I’m sitting my bed and the cord was between my feet. 🤦🏻 Anyways I’ll summarize. Stanley Cup finals started tonight. 2x defending Champs TB Lightning vs Colorado Avalanche. If you can’t catch any of it, you should check out Nathan Mackinnon. Plays for Colorado and was the #1 overall pick the year after McDavid. I think McDavid and McKinnon are 1A and 1B in the world right now. Most people would take McDavid, and rightly so, to start their franchise but I’m taking Mackinnon all day. Even if you don’t make a video on it, you should do yourself the favor of looking him up if you truly enjoy these guys you’ve been reacting to. Cheers bud, gonna check out the Matthews one now that it’s intermission (15 minute break between period one, it’s done for many reasons but most importantly to resurface the ice. The smoother the ice the better the hockey. Any imperfections can cause the puck to bounce or roll or not make it to the intended target. So they do some maintenance between periods to help keep ice nice).
minor detail… nah damn you right. I was a little more baked than I thought I was. I get real good at losing time. Mackinnon was definitely before McDavid. My bad at feeding wrong information. Definitely the worst thing to do to someone who’s trying to learn the game. I get the L for sure. Good catch and thanks for correcting my error. And now that a Mackinnon reaction has been made, hopefully it makes more sense on my 1A/1B stance. Cheers bud.
The greats. The most talented player of all time = Mario Lemieux Greatest playmaker = Wayne Gretzky Best all around defenseman = Bobby Orr Best goalscorer of all time = Mike Bossy Best goaltender = Dominik Hasek Those 5 are always gonna be head and shoulders above anyone who came before them or after. Some of the numbers Gretzky did were so outrageous, it's not even funny anymore. He beat his LINEMATE in the scoring race by over 80 points one season. 90% of the players in the league would be happy to get that 80 points in a season (which is almost a point a game), but no. Not Gretzky. He scored 215, while his linemate scored 131 (which is a great number of points). He also beat Mario Lemieux that season by 74 points in the scoring race. They tried everything they could to restrict Gretzky, but he just kept changing his game whenever they did. His best goal total season was 92 goals. In 80 games. He scored 50 goals in the first 39 games of that season (which is by far the craziest record he has). He's also the only player in history to score 200+ points. Which he did 4 different times. Only one who came close was Mario Lemieux with 199 points. Anyway, when they tried to restrict Gretzky. He didn't shoot the puck as much anymore, but turned himself into the best playmaker in the league, assisting on 163 goals one season. To put it in perspective. 163 POINTS is one of the biggest totals in history. He did that with assists only. Then add his 52 goals to that. 215 points. INSANE. He's also the only player to score over 2000 points in his career. Finishing his career with 2857 points. The 2nd highest scorer now is Jaromir Jagr with 1921 points. And the funny record he has is... He's the fastest player to score a 1000 points in the NHL. And he's also the 2nd fastest player to score 1000 points in the NHL :)
appreciaye you adding bossy as the greatest goal scorer because its true. if he hadnt only played 10 seasons ovi is chasing his record not the great ones.

To be fair; there is only a single time in the history of hockey where I can think someone scored a one handed backhander and roofed it and we just saw it. Getting elevation on a backhander with one hand on the stick is sorta wild. The hand strength on that.
I cant get any backhand shot to go top shelf. The fact he did it with one arm is mind blowing. Its like looking at an optical illusion, it doesn't compute inside my head. Ive literally never seen it. Appears to break physics....
The last highlight is so freaking hard to do especially to elevate the puck and be able to beat the goalie, I have never see it done in 40 years of watching hockey it takes incredible strength to do, hes not a big guy but he's strong, you should watch his pass video
Crosby was McDavid idol growing up. Not retired, but getting close. His peers still vote him as the most complete player in the NHL. 17 straight seasons with at least 1 point a game or better. Only Wayne Gretzky has more seasons at 18. He's also the youngest captain to win a cup, and youngest player to have a hundred point season. Also a 1 handed back is very hard. Hard to do in ball hockey. I play hockey. I can do that with both hands....not 1 lol
Crosby is the lebron of hockey bro I been watching him since day one and it’s not even close , datsyuk played most of Crosby’s career and played him in back to back finals with them splitting the series
Mario Lemieux highlights. He was La Magnifique". Also a Penguin. He had many health issues, like a shot lower back, cancer and a heart issue, but just watch him! He was retired when Crosby was drafted, but came out of retirement to play along side Syd. Syd still plays!!
You can usually tell the era of these clips by how grainy the footage is, current top dog McDavids footage should all be crisp and clear he's newish to the league. And ya that #1 is hard to tell it could seem simple, but lifting the puck off the ice with 1 hand and back-handed to boot, is insane, plus he went right through the middle of the entire team doing it.
#1 is crazy because a) it's one handed, pretty tricky to raise the puck with one hand b) it was with his backhand, hockey stick blades are curved, so one side (the forehand) can help scoop the puck but the backhand can't
Sid is 35 (will be in August) and probably still has a few seasons left. He entered the league at 18 straight out of the draft. McDavid is I think 24 or 25 right now, so both still playing. #3 on that list was with McDavid standing and watching Sid work. McDavid is going to go down as maybe the most explosive player of all time but he doesnt have the 2-way game Sid has. the #1 clip of him shooting it one handed is insanely hard. having to flick your wrist a certain way, especially on the backhand to elevate the puck with enough velocity to get it past the goalie is very difficult. crosbys backhand is the greatest in the world. look at some of his backhand goals.
Moritz Seider was a rookie defender this season who hits like a train, has a great shot and smooth hands. I think u would love the combination that kid can offer. Not sure tho is there any good highlights yet in yt
The Kobe/LeBron is a good analogy. They're both playing now, but McDavid is hitting his prime and is considered the best today. Crosby has been playing for ten years more than McDavid, and is considered one the top four hockey players, ever. Also, that #1 goal probably got the nod because the one hand he used to score that was his right hand, and he's left-handed.

His longevity in his 30s has been insane.
I can personally say the amount of wrist strength for that number one goal is insane. But yea number 2 was awesome
Crosby is the lebron of the nhl I’d say. HOF guaranteed, both so incredible. But getting to later years of their career
McDavid is the top young player, or right up at the top depending on who you ask. Crosby is getting toward the end of his career, started around 05-06 I think, but he's still a hell of a player, still got a few solid years left probably.
Wdym depending who u ask everyone know mcdavid is the best the only ones even close is mackinon matthews and draisatal
Imo Crosby still number 1
@@voltagex5799 well that's what I mean by depending who you ask. There's plenty of maple leafs fans that would argue Matthews is the better player. Doesn't mean they're right, but they'd say that.
croisby a lot better than mcdavid
@@andreprefontaine3824 In career yes, right now though no and Crosby is still incredible.
Kirill Kaprizov, Trevor Zegras, Cole Caufield. These are some of the young guys with big hopes
^^^^
And Cale Makar
I'm from the Burgh, grew up watching Lemieux, Jagr, Hines Ward, Polamalu... Sid is the best to ever rep the city! He is a complete player with no weakness in his game! His hand eye is the greatest in the history of the game! Dope video my guy
Crosby is nowhere near the best all round player in the NHL anymore, players like Matthews, Barkov, Makar etc are more elite 2 way players, all elite offensively and defensively, Crosby is still elite offensively but his defence is about league average now
@@jonleblanc2436 definitely isn't league average 😂
That one handed backhand is hard to do ! Ovi and Crosby had a heck of rivalry some of the best playoffs I’ve ever seen !
Gordie Howe - Wilt
Bobby Orr - Larry bird
Mario - Magic
Gretzky- Jordan
Crosby - Lebron
Ovechkin - KD
Connor - Giannis
Decently accurate to time tables and such
Just subbed, I really do enjoy people coming into the sport of hockey cuz it’s actually lit
I was at the devils game in overtime. I laughed so hard when I saw that goal from sid
If you wanna see something you havent seen in hockey check out Trevor Zegras, he was a rookie for Anaheim this year.
Gotcha gotcha, I’ll add it to the list
YOOOOO Zegras is definitely a sight to see.
You don't understand how hard it is to score that first goal one handed.
Crosby was the Kobe of the NHL….. Gretzky was the Jordan of the NHL…. McDavid is the lebron of the NHL
Preciate that bro
You sent 1/3. Mcdavid is not better than crosby
@@kareemthekicker5981 are you kidding I never heard of Crosby this year bro he was good and is still pretty good but no where near mcDavid right now Crosby age getting to him
@@mysh8988 obviously you don’t watch hockey then because Crosby was on pace for over 100 points in a full season this year. McDavid is obviously better now but career wise McDavid has a long way to go.
@@bigtearsandpistols ya that’s what I’m saying mcDavid is way better now I agree he still has lots to do to get on Crosby career level but I’m not talking about career mcDavid already broke some of Crosby record though
YESSSSS HE SAW MY COMMENT, WE LOVE YOU
props to McDavid, but Sid is still the GOAT these days.
Cale Makar is definitely one of the best right now, only like 3 years in the league as well
I like seeing not as familiar fans watch hockey because of their reactions to cool not as known hockey plays and strategies. Hockey is such a complicated sport but fun at the same time.
Hey man everyone starts somewhere. I was reacting to these kind of videos back in 16/17 and now I’m obsessed and watch way too much hockey lol
A bit jealous, love that you are experiencing it for the first time. Great content.
Trevor zegras is a flashier up and comer in the nhl…he scored one of the nicest goals of all time this year
Jordan is Gretzky
Crosby and Ovechkin are Shaq and Kobe
Mcdavid is Lebron
Hell no mcdavid doesnt have a ring
Sweet comparison, but I must say the great one is 3x the goat of hockey, not even looking at stats, just highlights (like Jordan and Bird combined
Hard to find the best category for sid. Hes a rare one thats just pretty good at everything. His hand eye is amazing
Trevor Zegras might be the Ja Morant of the NHL right now.
It’s more Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin being the “Ronaldo vs Messi”
Gotcha gotcha, preciate that
@@yojustmatt np
This is amazing hahahahahahaha. Pure love for this!
Sydney Crosby baseball goals he has a library of highlights packages!
Crosby was the best in the league for years and mcdavids favourite player growing up. Connor wears 97 for his birthyear the same way crosby wears 87 for his
Crosby was born on the seventh day of the eighth month in ‘87. It’s perfect.
Mcdavid = lebron
Crosby = kobe
The comparisons arent 1 to 1 as there is a 10 year gap between crosby and mcdavid
Really excited to see the matthews video hes my favourite player and the best goal scorer in the league right now. If youre talking about Ja morant the closest thing is probably someone like Zegras
@@hellomotoCoop Crosby is Lebron off logic and career mcdavid can’t be compared to no one yet dude hasn’t even won a chip yet
@@YeYe-db6ur why does an award a team wins effect a young players individual status?
Love your hockey videos man. Great content!
Respect.
Gotcha, so first Gretzky, then Crosby, then Mcdavid, got it got it. Preciate the info
Damn I had typed a Novel and a half but my phone died and it’s gone. Worst part is I’m sitting my bed and the cord was between my feet. 🤦🏻
Anyways I’ll summarize.
@@jeffvideau Nate was drafted in 2013 McDavid in 2015
minor detail… nah damn you right. Cheers bud.
@@jeffvideau cheers and no worries bud its no big
The greats.
The most talented player of all time = Mario Lemieux
Greatest playmaker = Wayne Gretzky
Best all around defenseman = Bobby Orr
Best goalscorer of all time = Mike Bossy
Best goaltender = Dominik Hasek
Those 5 are always gonna be head and shoulders above anyone who came before them or after.
@@DannyConcepts Yep. And that coming from a Rangers fan. I can still see how good of a scorer Bossy was. Consistent af. Although.. Mario is pretty damn close to Bossy.
Mario Lemieux is the Jordan. Just as Jordan didn't have the most career points (would have if not injured tho) but the most impressive overall
shooting with one hand is actually almost impossible it’s crazy that he even got it off the ground let alone score it
Dang in that case, I see how it’s #1
Check out Wayne Gretzky, the greatest hockey player of all time.
Sid has (yes still) has the best back hand shot or pass in the game. Sid started in 2005 and is still playing. Probably just one or two years left. He's had concussion issues. Love my Pens, lucky enough to watch the AHL team affiliate live and the bigs on tv its been awesome
I feel like he’ll play at least 3 more years but who knows
he already confirmed he will play at least 3 and see what happens after, 3 years remaining on his current contract
I can do that with both hands....not 1 lol
react to trevor zegras, he’s the Ja Morant of the NHL
Fun fact, the guy standing there in awe on the #3 play is Connor mcdavid :p
Great video, Matt!
Crosby doing a Larry Bird…firing one in off his own rebound😂
Larry Bird and Wayne Gretzky were on the cover of Time magazine together. Wayne started in the NHL in 1979 and retired in 1999.
Scoring like he did with only one hand is impossible
05 was Crosby rookie season as 1st overall pick. 18 yrs old
The best there is. The best there was. And the best there ever will be.
It’s extremely tough to shoot with one hand lol…. Especially while cutting through defenders I grew up playing in Saskatchewan and still play today
Crosby is the modern day GOAT
Lifting a puck, one-handed, on the backside of the stick in full flight is extremely difficult.
Sid started in 2005 and he is not retired but maybe soon, he is 34
#1 is crazy because
a) it's one handed, pretty tricky to raise the puck with one hand
b) it was with his backhand, hockey stick blades are curved, so one side (the forehand) can help scoop the puck but the backhand can't
Sid is 35 (will be in August) and probably still has a few seasons left. He entered the league at 18 straight out of the draft. McDavid is I think 24 or 25 right now, so both still playing. Sid has 3 Stanley Cups though, and McDavid is still looking for his first. You also need to check out Nathan MacKinnon, who is playing in the Stanley Cup Final right now. Both Sid and MacK are from Nova Scotia-God's country!
#3 on that list was with McDavid standing and watching Sid work. McDavid is going to go down as maybe the most explosive player of all time but he doesnt have the 2-way game Sid has. Sid is consistently one of the best offensive and defensive centers in league. Not many players all time can say that.
Crosby was the best player in the world during his prime, mcdavid is younger and is now the greatest player in the world
Gordie howe is wilt
Bobby Orr is magic
Wayne gretzky is Jordan
Mario Lemueix is Kobe
Crosby is lebron
McDavid is luka
(In terms of general eras they played and equivalents but I’m no nba expert)
Also Crosby is messi, ovechkin is Ronaldo, McDavid is mbappe and Mathew’s is Halaand
Also Crosby and Malkin is lebron and dwade on Miami
Preciate the comparisons my guy, it gives a better sense on how valuable these players are so much appreciated 💯
You can’t appreciate #1 unless you’ve tried it yourself
I see I see, nevermind saying #2 is better than #1 then, I didn’t know how difficult it is to do that
Pavel Datsuk was the Lebrun of the 90’s then it was Crosby & Patrick Kane after in the 2000, and currently is McDavid & Austin Matthews
Legendary players-past to present. Keep in mind, the game has changed a lot. Gordy Howell, Wayne Gretzky,Mario Lemieux( now owner of the Pens)
the #1 clip of him shooting it one handed is insanely hard. having to flick your wrist a certain way, especially on the backhand to elevate the puck with enough velocity to get it past the goalie is very difficult. crosbys backhand is the greatest in the world. look at some of his backhand goals.
Crosby is like Lebron and McDavid is Like Doncic era wise.
Ahh heard you heard you
Best hands I’ve ever seen in hockey.
crosby started in the nhl in 2005 at the same time as ovechkin mcdavid was drafted in 2015
He still playing been in the league since 18
Moritz Seider was a rookie defender this season who hits like a train, has a great shot and smooth hands. I think u would love the combination that kid can offer. Not sure tho is there any good highlights yet in yt
The commentator said it: The one handed backhand shot in the top corner is nearly impossible
Gotta check out Dominik Hasek, greatest goalie EVER! Never had another significant player on his team in buffalo were he spent most of his career, but carried them deep in the playoffs almost every year.
