Even if you completely remove pre-70’s GK (tech at that time were generally awful, outside of a few standouts), he doesn’t even make top 30 in South American GK. Out of 10, he’s a pretty solid 7. Certainly good but no where near top class. Hell, he’s not even top five in Mexico’s history

I was lucky enough to watch him in his prime. Jorge's performance was very cinematic. The shots that other goalkeepers would deflect standing, he had do some long dives to catch 'em and that was so entertaining to watch 😄

aside from his undeniable skill (even as an old man playing with messi+friends) - his flamboyant choice of colours, (a glorious fuck you to the morons at FIFA) combined with his disregard for protocol and desire to go forward and score (which he did in many occasions) mark him as one of the most unique goalkeepers to ever play the game. Perhaps if the dice of fate had seen him born in a different continent we'd be singing a different tune of praise.

Campos was a short keeper probably the shortest in football history. But man Campos knew how to cut the angles and made it imposible to score on him.
