True sounds about right "where originality goes to die"

Happy Gilmore: what my calculus teacher brought in at the end of the year. It was fine. At no point between then and now have I wanted a sequel. I haven't even rewatched it.

    In hindsight:
In ‘99 I was happier before the opening crawl rolled up… in 2008 I was happier before the Paramount mountain turned into a mole-hill (yes I know it was prairie dogs)… in 2009 I was happier before I heard Beastie Boys blaring in a Star Trek movie…. They were all clever/lucky enough to get me to pay for a ticket, but they squandered the chance for me to pay even more for repeat views and merch. To this day I still do not own a physical copy of Phantom Menace….. and that movie is way better than most of Disney’s live action.

Damn KP, do you ever sleep? Just kidding.😉
I normally can’t stand most comedies, but Adam Sandler has never disappointed and “Water Boy” is my favorite plus it strikes close to home with my mother being much like his in the movie except for the jackass or any animal being in the house, but how she she sees other women as “the devil” is exactly how my mom saw them.🤣
As for a sequel to “Happy Gilmore” I didn’t see that coming or felt it’s needed, but will watch when available.

I hope John Daly get's a part in the film, a fun meta joke.
Iv not seen most his newer films but I know Adam Sandler knows his market well, there was that Forbes story about him being the highest paid actor. I think he was one of the most watched people/films on Netflix for a few years?

My wife and I were entertained by the two Netflix mystery movies he did with Jennifer Anniston.
Side note, I recently turned 50. I'm getting old too.

Can't believe I was 7 when this came out. Where does the time go?

The reason why guys and girls our age loved movies when we were growing up is because we had SO many new and fresh movies to discover. Yes there were sequels but the vast majority of great movies came from....nowhere when Hollywood used to have imagination.
They have ruined Star Wars, Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones, and so many others. There is only one series that if they remake it for a 'modern audience' that'll make me scream. Its the only thing besides the original Jaws that they haven't ruined and that's remaking Back to the Future. Leave Marty and Doc alone. The only reason they have not , if I am not mistaken, is because creator/director Robert Zemeckis swore he will never let it happen.

What's with "the long anticipated sequel" line. They say this about Gladiator 2. No one has been waiting for these sequels. I was 14 when this came out, and Adam was the funniest MFer on screen back then. I am with you about being on the fence about this sequel. Won't be the same without Richard Kiel.

I would love to be proven wrong and have a great laugh. I am skeptical that will happen

Hollyweird is broke. They're gonna make sequels till their financial issues improve.
    Spoiler Alert: they won't
