Bacon sarnies are the best. I've never quite understood the penchant for HP brown sauce on bacon. That's two tasty strong elements competing against each other. Ketchup or no sauce for me.

British bacon and US bacon seem to be two different things. The best British bacon is 'back bacon' that has a whole medallion of meat at one end. Americans seem to go for streaky bacon which is great when cooked up very crispy but on the whole has too much fat on it which necessarily increases the profit at source. We mustn't forget that 'dollar is king'.
I like all bacon but I usually opt for streaky, it’s more multi purpose and still delicious on a fry up.
As an Englishman, I have to say, Although shoulder/back bacon is more common in the UK, crispy streaky bacon tases waaay better.

Interesting to hear you say that back bacon is best. The taste in bacon is in the fat. Whereas some people are a bit sniffy about streaky the market seems to have woken up because here in our supermarkets streaky is actually a bit dearer than back. (Australian here not American BTW)
@@nostromoau No, I said it was the best (cut of) British bacon. Most people I know wouldn't even piss on streaky bacon. It used to be a cheap person's cut as there was no massive medallion of meat. Streaky bacon needs to be cooked more thoroughly so it all crisps up. The cost of bacon generally is quite expensive so I want more edible meat for my spondoolies. If someone doesn't like fat at all they could be there for an hour separating the meat from the fat with streaky bacon.

The difference is that in UK there is meat on the bacon but in US there is just a thin strip.

I remember spending 6 months in the U.S. when I was in my 20s. We have crisps (potato chips) here called Frazzels. Your bacon is just like a Frazzle. We have smoked bacon with a crispy fat rind (if it's cooked correctly). Thanks to our Danish neighbor's tips on farming we are making our own now.

Just because Americans don't know. Bacon is like steak only the poorest quality has to be overdone. European bacon is served cooked but like a delicious meat not a fried, burnt crisp as american bacon is. Only started due to the poor pig quality/high fatty animals in the US.. imagine someone telling you love steak then cooking a fillet to overdone/burnt and being like isn't it amazing?

Bacon sarnie : two nice thick cut slices of white (split tin) bread, NOW before you butter the bread.... place bread on a plate and add dashes of Worcestershire sauce , then butter with Guernsey butter ( Worth paying the extra 30p for) . Once the bread is Worcestered and buttered on one slices drizzle a light bead of tom ketchup to your liking (at this point you could threaten the other slice with some English mustard, just a threatening mind you!) your bread is now ready to receive well cooked bacon meaty and a bit crispy on the edges stack on the Bread , Tommy side as the lid, hey presto you have a bacon sandwich. I would advise having this sandwich with a nice large mug of Yorkshire tea! ENJOY this life giving treat! 👍
My Dads favourite bacon sandwich used to two slices of bread buttered with BBQ sauce some pepper. He like to have his bacon cold and crispy and wash it down with a mug of hot black tea

I was working in Germany for the US Forces and both the Germans and the yanks both have the small, thin, fatty type of bacon that curls as it cooks, nothing like the lean cuts we have in Britain (that could be danish) but who cares!
