    Nailed it Jen. Sharing our knowledge is like money. To be of value it must circulate, and in circulating it can increase in quantity and hopefully value.

    I wish I wasn't colourblind so I could see the true finish, after 47 years on the planet I'm trying to learn what colours go together, Its great when you say the colour that you are applying so I know where to apply it.

    thanks for another great bait painting, I have learned alot from watching you, it is amazing how much you can learn by paying attention, I have been painting quite a few years landscapes, and hobby things, baits about 4 months, but it is a joy to paint baits and the first time you catch a fish on one you painted priceless,keep up the great work

    I am just starting off, and to be honest, I haven't even painted a bait yet. I'm still collecting all my gear. I did not know where to start, and then I found your videos on TH-cam, and after watching your techniques, and understanding how you use your equipment, I now feel that I have a good working understanding on the "theory of bait painting" . Hopefully my application will come into itself over time. I have great ideas, and with the knowledge that you have shared, I feel like I truly have a head start. Thank you very much for making these videos. I learn by watching, so this is definitely a tool that I will carry with me. Looking forward to whatever you put out.

    Those are slick! I need to try a frog. Thanks for passing the torch to us. I hope someone does the same. I'll be teaching my nephew soon. At least the basics. I have the bait fish down and do a good rainbow trout pattern. Working on my craws but I suck with the stencil wheel. I think I'm gonna get that 3 piece set. Just can't get it to come out right.

      Jekyll424 been thinking since last night. Smoke pouring out the ears. Lol but I think I'll try the stencils on a lipless or a flatsided bait. Try that till I get the hang of it. Thanks for the inspiration.

  • @cushionface09
    @cushionface09 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You inspire me. I have bought an air brush but I don't have the airbrush compressor but I do have a large one in the garage so to get started I may try using a tank for putting air in tires until I can buy one. I have water based paints from walmart I hope they work .I know I will have to thin them out with water so I think I have enough to get started.

    • @Jekyll424
      @Jekyll424  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thin them with reducer instead of water. It will spray better. And use low pressure if you can. I fear that your compressor might be too strong for painting, but I don’t know what you have. Can you regulate your air pressure?

    • @cushionface09
      @cushionface09 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I can but what I was going to try is filling a portable tank that's used to put air in car tires & just refill it when the pressure gets to low .The portable tank would only have maybe 50lbs or 60lbs of air in it. This is temporary until I get a good airbrush compressor.

    • @cushionface09
      @cushionface09 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great advise I will do that.

    • @billallmon4094
      @billallmon4094 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just put a regulator and water trap thats what i did works just fine

    • @billallmon4094
      @billallmon4094 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The water trap is very important you can turn any regulator down to however low you want ,no need for a fancy air brush compressor

    I must say, I really love your work. You sure do have a gift. I miss catching Bass so much though back in South Africa but living here in Australia, There is no bass like the bass we catch or know of. You should make a video of you catching bass on some of the lures you have painted 8) My grand father used to make bass lures and he taught me as well. if I may ask what IWATA airbrush are you using?

    Hey Jenn.......loving your videos!
    I have a 20 gallon compressor in my shop and am wondering if I can use it for airbrushing? Or do I need a small one like you have?
    Thanks for the ideas and beautiful work!

    • @zzz7zzz9
      @zzz7zzz9 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used my big work compressor for a couple years, before I got a proper airbrush compressor. it worked just fine. put an inline moisture trap on and lower the air pressure down. worked fine for me.

    • @Jekyll424
      @Jekyll424  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to be able to adjust the pressure. Not sure on that one

    From what I remember you were using water to clean a brush when you were talking about mixing colors. What is the difference in the "airbrush" paint and the $1 craft paint?
    Also, can I use regular paint thinner or acetone to clean my air brush? I have both of those in large containers (Gallons)
    I am hooked on your videos, I am currently off work recovering from surgery and looking for a way to pass my time and learn my airbrush.
    Can this painting be done inside as long as I have proper ventilation? I live just south of you in Cabot, AR

    • @Jekyll424
      @Jekyll424  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      rhaselton I use water to clean paintbrushes but NOT airbrushes. Paints like Folk art are not intended for an airbrush and have a tendency to clump and clog often. Airbrush paints are well strained and made specifically to be atomized by the pressure in the gun

    • @Jekyll424
      @Jekyll424  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No to acetone and regular thinner because it will eat away at the inner protection of the paint chamber and needle. You can paint inside but use a respirator. Neurological issues will occur if you don’t. A ventilation system is ideal. Check out the Brotherhood of custom Crankbait painting page on Facebook. You’re going to learn even MORE!!

    Do you apply a clear final coat? If so, what type of material is used? I’ve started to DIY pooper for bluegill, A lot to learn and need to apply gloss clear coat but don’t know what material to use
    So far after after research, “RaidGap” has very high recommendations…. It has five different viscosities, very thin to thick. I’m assuming a “medium”
    I would appreciate any comments, HELP, etc. from anyone. I DIYed drying wheel with a 4.5 rpm. Still being improved!

      85% of the time I’ve had very good experiences with Amazon march that Shelts distributes. Just like any blank you buy, wherever its from, examine it before you spray it. Most everything from Shelts is very fishable
