Thanks a lot. What you told seems working. LORD Almighty may have mercy on my bird. I gave B12 a drop daily, multi vit a drop, trimethoprim+ sulphanethoxazole a drop. Seen a little improvement in three days.
We have a male adult Parakeet that was stargazing and losing the ability to perch. I thought it might be chlamydophilosis which is known to cause stargazing and lameness so put him on Doxyvet (Doxycycline) which helped but did not cure him. After a month of treating Gustof with Doxyvet we finally took him to the Vets. They put him on Enrofloxin which knocked him for a loop. Gustov almost died. While at the vets they did a gram stain and sent it to the lab, it came back negative, which meant he did not have a infection (Viral or Fungal). I did some more research into Stargazing and found that a lack of Thiamin can cause this also. So now Gustof is on vitamin supplements, (no antibiotics). Oh, I forgot to mention that antibiotics can inhibit the intake of vitamins (Thiamin) from the food birds eat which will cause more stargazing. Will update when I find a positive cure. Cheers
Thank you, my vet was unable to diagnose disease gave multi vit only. Any update on your research I gave B12 a drop daily, multi vit a drop, trimethoprim+ sulphanethoxazole a drop. Seen a little improvement in three days.
