To begin with, this is absolutely the very best in depth review I have watched. Kobo offers seamless integration with Overdrive/Libby in Canada. Also, Kobo offers the ability to listen to Audiobooks in Canada. Canadian Kindles do not include Bluetooth making listening to anything impossible. Sadly, in Canada Kobo is the only logical choice. I love the page turn buttons and the ability to quickly change brightness by sliding a finger down the side of the screen. Thanks for a wonderful informative video.
22:03 "they [kobo] really encourage you to read the things you already have" I completely agree. It's worth noting the one section on the kobo home screen changes to things in your library: different authors or collections you've made, so you always have a vague reminder of things you own.
By the way, there's way to put a clock by some customization. There's a whole another rabbit hole waiting if you want to really dive into the world of customization, like KoReader, but putting a clock can be done quite simply. Just google NickelClock or "put clock, Kobo."
🖊️ “blast my face with a flashbang so to speak” 😂 :’) I’m already sold on the device so just appreciating the extra validation ✨😌 lol and picking up little things everyone notices and appreciates. Thank you for the review💫 💕
@@sarahlancheros I honestly just kept notes in the built in notebook whenever I had a thought pop up about something I liked and then I put them into categories to make it easier to follow my adhd brain 😂 but thank you and I’m glad you enjoyed 🙏🏻💗💗
Thanks for the great review! I have a stupid question about the cover. How do you put it in sleep mode without the flip kind of cover? I've always had one but am thinking of just getting the clear back cover. And do the screen protectors protect it well enough if you throw it in your bag?
You just tap the power button on the back! Or if you have your settings to automatically turn off the screen mine will turn off after 5 mins to save battery so if I put it down to do something and forget I was reading (adhd lol) it’ll turn off ☺️ I think the screen protector is decent quality that I got it’s just off Amazon and would probably be fine in your bag if you’re not super rough on your stuff but throwing it in with like keys probably isn’t a good idea😂
🖊️🖊️ Great review! I recently bought a 2nd Gen Kindle, just to see if I like ereaders. However, I found out there's no way for me to register the device on my Kindle account, because it's too old and has no internet. 😅 TH-cam came in clutch and helped me through about 95% of the process. The other 5% was just fiddling with the Calibre plug-ins. That's just to say that I agree with you, in that downloading from Kindle and side-loading into another device is pretty painless! No Kindle serial number needed! 🙌
great review - ive been on the fence on purchasing this as i still have my kindle paperwhite signature. but i want to read like mangas/webtoons that have color so i was debating this vs kindle color. also wanted to annotate as i do enjoy doing it for some books so your review helped
Does the white case distract you when reading? Normally the black case helps me focus on the page better, but the white is so pretty. Very good review btw ❤
I just had to return my Kobo Color. It would not turn on. Would show charging forca second then off. No way to know if charged since cannot turn on. Hoping they stick to their word and I get a new one not refurbished.
@@amyolsen2838 honestly I would recommend it just incase. I saw someone on Reddit who scratched their screen pretty badly on accident by putting it in their backpack and it didn’t have any protection lol idk if they stylus itself is going to scratch it I mean it’s not sharp and it’s designed to go together so 🤷🏻♀️
hi! I don't know if I missed it, but are you able to hide book/chapter progression while reading the book like on the kindle? seeing the pages while I'm really makes me really anxious and stressed to read faster lol so it's important for me to hide that
As a migraine sufferer as well I tend to use dark mode on my kindle more often than not; how is dark mode on the Kobo? Been thinking of getting one but most reviews I see don’t mention dark mode.
There is dark mode! It’s a bit different from kindle in that the dark mode only affects the books itself, the menu remains light unless I’m just missing the setting to do the entire device in dark mode but in the reading settings there is a dark mode option which turns all books into dark mode when open to the pages :) I’ll look into this a bit more and see if the entire device can go into dark mode or not! I can post a short this week of showing off the dark mode 😁
@ thank you! I started reading on my iPhone on Dark mode because that helped me read on there longer without triggering a migraine but I still could trigger one after too long, so that’s why I got a kindle but I miss seeing my covers in color and would love to be able to annotate directly in the book.
The stylist being recognized is really cool! I’m so used to propriety or nothing. That’s refreshing
lol omg I know I was so excited we could use alternatives and it still shows the battery for the off brand one 😆
Best Kobo review I've seen! I listened until the end.
Thank you!
As someone who doesnt have a kobo, still enjoyed your review! 🖊️🖊️

I love that Canada has the Kobo as their mainstream device because it’s definitely fantastic

No I haven’t found it distracting at all and coming from a black kindle it doesn’t feel any different case color wise!
I bought the white and wish I had bought black. I find it not quite as immersive as the black e-readers I have.
