      Yeah definitely take it apart just be very careful not to break the little metal wires.

    I took myn apart and it was very clean no broken wires, but i found it has 3 wires , two very thin and one copper wire, despite cleaning and float moving freely and no rust the gauge still does not work, any ideas please, if i short the plug at the correct pins the gauge will read full so i assume wiring is fine upto the plug

      Yes you are correct there are three wires. All I can tell you is that something's not working correctly in your fuel sender I really can't troubleshoot via TH-cam comments. However you can buy these still from the Mercedes dealership or you can just order them online they are available. I have to replace them all the time at the shop.

      @@woodsandbarclay one of the pins does not give continuity from the outside to the the other side ie inside the sender, could that be the problem as the sender unit itself look new inside and out its that clean

    Where did you buy that big socket?

    • @woodsandbarclay
      @woodsandbarclay  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can order the tool from Kent over at mercedessource.com or you can just go to tractor supply and buy one of the big sockets and make it yourself.

      I have no idea it would probably be easier to just order a used one on eBay.

      @@Alireza-sabb-f1 then you're going to have to remove one of the wires and have someone measure the thickness

      @@woodsandbarclay done that sir, again thank you for responding. Found same thickness wires but it kept showing the fuel tank was full at all times. Tried copper but didnt work

    Save my friend. I know that in one of these wires the level sensor has a rectifier diode. my 300sd was adapted another tank with different float. I need to know what type of this diode to install on the output of my level sensor. without it the pointer is oscillated sharply. I appreciate the help. Hug

      If any of the wires are broken though you will need to send it out for repair or just buy a new unit
