- When you're on a tight budget and want the look of an old painting but can't buy one, this DIY hack will do the trick!
I used Matte Mod Podge to paint over a print to give texture that looks like a painting. You can paint over art found in magazines or books, prints, canvas prints - whatever you want. There might be some slight rippling of the paper but if you secure it to a backing well, this can solve the problem.
Experiment on a few throw away pieces first to get the feel of it and you'll be all set!

Can’t wait to try it!
Do it! I can't believe it took decorating our B&B to finally get around to it. I plan on making many more!
Wonderful! 👏🏼 Thank you. Will this technique also work with Gloss gel medium instead of Mod Podge?
Great question. I haven't tried it, but I imagine it would. If you test it out, let me know what you find! It's always nice to have options of using what you have on hand.
Does this work on paper pics? I bought a second hand picture. I took the frame off and it's paper glued to cardboard. Thanks
Great question. It would depend on the thickness of the paper. I'd test a small part. If the paper is too thin, the paper could warp and ripple.
hello does it turn yellow overtime and does it protect the print from scratching?
We haven't had ours long enough to see first hand, but research shows that it will yellow slightly. You can keep it out of UV light to reduce the yellowing. It will prevent scratching but the application will introduce texture from painting over the print, so I'm not sure if it helps in that aspect.
@@unicornconservationco thanks

Yay! Hope you get to try it out.
