  • While developed nations have benefitted and contributed the most to the climate change challenges faced by the world, the process to mitigate this is both unjust and unfair to poor nations that are also affected the most.
This is the view of Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi, who was speaking to TimesLIVE Premium on the sidelines of Global Citizen Now summit in New York.#southafrica

This is the first time I have listened to the Botswana President for this long, and I must say that the Batswana are blessed to be led by someone who can articulate the challenges and solutions faced by his country, the region, and the world.

This is bold. It's what's called taking ownership of the task at hand. It's the kind of work that our leaders shun. They prefer to defer to their former colonisers or imperialist fellow travellers to come with the solutions. African leaders need to wake up

We all have become by the grace of God. We all come on earth naked, empty handed and vulnerable. The mercy of God has provided the irreducible materials He has made us to find and transform. No one is strictly independent for we all depend on God who creates. We are created for interdependence where the blessings become mutual blessings. Unfortunately, Darwin with the fallacy of the survival of the fittest and other apostles of despair have transform the perception and conception of some as preys that must be hunted down. Let’s keep in mind that we come on earth with nothing in our hands. Therefore the things that surround us, should be a pledge of our hope. Because the cause, God is an eternal Being.

He is speaking with a Patriotic tone - with a political will for development his country. One can tell that it's not propaganda (detached from reality). However African leaders need to watch against Carbon Emmissions rhetoric - it's the least of African problems right now- The western template on renewal energy replacement should be scrutinised before adopting it.

I have always seen as a scam and a ploy to grab more land as theirs is weakened through their own "scientific processes". When one reads about the purchasing of land as "carbon sinks" in areas outside the West along with arguments for or against "climate debts swaps", EVs climate credits that are up for selling and tank overnight, you really see it for the scam that it is when you critically analyse the situation! They make no economic sense!

If Africans can elect leaders on intellect not tribe this will work. Also the leader must work tirelessly for all ethnicities irrespective of where they came from. Leader must be corruption free and promote education and morals among the citizens. The leader must promise safety, health and education for all irrespective of race, gender or anything

I am a Motswana in Botswana…, this is a pathological liar… he is always casual like this when lying. After watching this, i realize how easy it is to lie to people that are distant from facts…
5:20 to 7:30 is the only truth he told because its political season here and he will win his second term from such. I cant wait for his second term to end so that we see what the next candidate has for us…
Botswana has always been peaceful and nothing is going to change in the near future. The only thing that will increase is corruption and mal-administration facilitated by such liars.
This guy and his 2 predecessors have done nothing for the country except for stealing from it.
Botswana used to be productive, Batswana used to be patriotic and do for their country. Corporations that used to provide affordable accommodation for Batswana have been run down. Mines that were concession owned like the BCL have been run down. A coal mine that recently opened was run down and they are now trying to resuscitate it… there is endless amount of corruption happening under his watch…
