Probably because he knows the interviewer and presumably likes him, there are a few other interviews with the same guy for Boogie Nights, Magnolia and TWBB that are up on YT
cool he mentioned the monkey in baraka and when I saw that monkey I was like shit that monkey is dope man me and PTA are the same person holy shit does that mean I AM A GENIUS TOOOOOOO?????????????????
Wasn't it walter murch who said the blinking thing? His book is called "the blink of an eye". I'm sure John Huston was smart enough to come up with that too tho.
Leaving aside Her, It'll be difficult for Joaquin to surpass what he achieved in The Master. Anybody who truly felt and lived every frame of The Master knows for a fact that Joker was nowhere near it and that's more because of sluggish direction and almost non effective writing.
And now all these people raving about phoenix and the cinematography and the pretended deep of that movie would probably see the master and say that it's boring

I'm glad the interviewer brought up Travis Bickle, I thought there were several points of similarity between him and Freddie Quell.
Denis says "I deeply love it." Paul says "it floats my boat."
It's fascinating the way PTA's beard stays the same length.
This man is such a genius
Wow, PTA is actually attempting to answer these questions. This is unusual.
Any other interview of his on that level?

And I listen to the mark maron podcast with him on, its fantastic and like 1 and 1/2 hours long
What the fuck is wrong with just calling him Paul instead of PTA? I don't get these shortcuts and it's truly annoying
@@weasley2o13people call directors and actors by full names, so PTA is closer to the proper use than Paul
Excellent interview... those have become rare on TH-cam.
can't believe hoffman's gone
yeah it's sad listening to them talk about him so affectionately.
what the fuck!!!! i never knew he wasnt alive.... thats so sad
I got to be an extra as one of the sailors in the first scene of this film! Just wish it had been a bit longer lol
PTA does do well with Elvis Mitchell. Also Charlie Rose.
Too bad Charlie Rose is incompetent

Fantastic interview.

Yes, Huston.
Thank you for the upload!
he does pretty great interviews with elvis mitchell. i feel like pta thinks he's one of the only journalists that isn't full of shit.
Are they high? By the way, Elvis Mitchell is excellent at interviewing directors so I am not surprised by the quality.

Marco Gianesello That itself justifies how popular consciousness and popular culture has always been so rudimentary.
Not everyone is a film student or serious moviegoer. You can't expect it from everyone

16:06 Does anyone knows the name of the director he mentioned? I don't understand it
He says "Koyaanisqatsi", it is a documentary similar to "Baraka".
whats the name of the animation film director paul mentions?
Tatia Rosenthal
Wow. An interview where PTA doesn't get all pissy. Good find.
bryonpav I hate people like that.
Really? He seems pretty laid back most of the time to me.
When has he ever done this? He seems so chill.
