- Let's talk about a few things that annoy most bus operators. The life of a bus driver can be challenging at times..so I will discuss a few things that irritate bus operators.

I've had people try to randomly try to get me to pull over for their passenger. Not going to work I go around them and keep going and don't try to block me in because I won't open the doors at a non bus stop 🙂
Once I actually have a police officer pull over a bus for me. I had to give a witness statement at a police station and when I was done I told them that I have missed the last bus. A police officer said that he would make sure to get me on that bus. He drove me to the bus stop and noticed that the bus was a few blocks away. He raced to the bus, turned on the lights and sirens, and moved in front of the bus. I, like nothing strange had happened, walked into the bus, paid my fare, and took a seat. The people and the bus driver seem really surprised by all this. The bus driver looked at me and said " you sure hava hell of a way to catch the bus."

I just move around the car that cuts me off and if you're gonna chase me through the whole route you might as well bring that person where they gotta go.
It irritates me when I'm at the intersection of a bus stop and a individual makes a right turn right in front of the bus as I'm leaving the bus stop and entering back into traffic. They totally disregard my left turn signal warning them I'm entering back into traffic.
they will do that most of the time when you do signal to change lanes that car you see behind you will MAKE YOU WAIT by speeding up!!

I absolutely hate it when Uber/Lyft occupy our space. We had a Lyft driver who consistently did this at one of our busiest terminals. So I called the local sheriffs office to complain that ADA passengers were being denied a safe way to board the bus. (This was after the road supervisor made several attempts to get them to stop parking there. The motorcycle cop waited in the cut and when the Lyft driver got out of his car to go inside the coffee shop the cop had it towed. I love instant karma 😊
3:19 that happened to me a few days ago. It was actually hilarious because the bus operator looked at the person trying to get on, turned the wheel all the way so the bus could get around the car, and drove off. It was hilarious, the bus operator got many a thank you’s at the following bus stops.
It (used to) bug me when they would stand over your shoulder & try to carry on a conversation. (Used to) as I gave up my CDL due to insulin diabetes. Got tired of having to "jump through flaming hoops" for the DOT, non stop harassment for randoms, supervisors following me constantly etc. & it never stopped. After 30 years I finally said that's enough, it's getting ridiculous & frustrating.

When someone's at the bus stop acting confused, you dont know if they want the bus or not, samething with people not paying attention on their phones.
I hate timepoints. I hate poorly placed bus stops, especially ones that are time points. I hate when passengers asked why are we stopping when at a timepoint.
What’s a time point?
@@MrMam-yo7qp a timepoint when a certain stop where you have to be at a certain time, and you cant leave early. If you leave early you can be reprimanded. You can leave late, never early. A customer/passenger may come to that stop(on time) and youre already gone, thats a problem lol

its not the fact that you must stand down until youre not early anymore.
its the fact that people ALWAYS SEEM TO WANT THEM whether its waiting for the bus or to get off at, each and everytime, because you know the other bus stops between timepoints don't even exists to these people.
it really upsets me if i have to stop at ALL of them because passengers want them.
i actually got to the point to where i always hope i can pass up at least 1 timepoint because nobody wants it
It annoys me when folks get on the bus and start patting their pockets for bus fare that they know was never in there.😒 Basically stalling hoping someone will voluntarily pay their fare.😬
Another thing is the motorists that park curbside and just jump out of their cars as the bus is approaching or passing by. OPEN YOUR EYES 🤣
Have seen all of the above here as well. The "pop and drop" as I like to call it is incredibly annoying and dangerous. This is quite common in more of the well to do areas as the rich people often drive their cars in front of the bus to then stop abruptly at a bus stop and drop off their help. I wish the police would be strict in their enforcement and give these motorists tickets. They almost never do anything about taxis/ubers/lyfts in bus stops and often just drive right past.

We need a ticket button on the bus, once that's an option bus stops will never have a car in them.
Love it when they block the bus so they can drop off people. And about those bikes. One went through a stop sign onto a busy street at 5 am. Guess who almost hit them..... Good thing it was near a hospital. Because he almost needed it.

How about a video on annoying obstacles built into the urban environment, like those new pedestrian islands that stick into the street! My transit bus can make the turn, but sometimes I have a three axle suburban or intercity motorcoach that needs to cross into oncoming traffic to clear that curb.
Omg I hate when people cut me off to get a passenger on the bus. I intentionally leave them at the bus stop for that reason.
Amen. Sounds mean but it is for Safety.
People stand in the road, “Don’t want to miss the bus!” I tell them don’t do it and if WE see you do it again we will not pick you up and YOU will miss the bus. Not jeopardizing my CDL so you get a bus ride. Plus we need space and distance to slow down. If your in the street we have no choice but to pass.
@@RenoBusdriver i myself will refuse to stop for anyone who doesnt know what the red light means, i dont understand why they even get my attention and then go against the red light. to me i say that well if you dont have time to wait then i guess you have time to wait at the next bus

Phone-babblers in the first seat right next to the bus driver ... no matter if loud or not, you'll be forced to listen. There should be a sign at the first seat row's windows with a cellphone and a thick red line diagonally through, surrounded by an even thicker red circle!
I saw a bumper sticker once on a hippie van that said: You're not stuck in traffic, YOU ARE the traffic.
Literally no one sees things going right, they only see things going wrong. Do you judge Uber or Lyft by all the drivers you didn't notice who are driving fine? Nah you only remember and notice the ones who are driving bad or making mistakes.
The same goes for bus operators, ignorance is infinite and people only see their piece of the picture. They don't realize the bus is the solution to the traffic they're dealing with.
The bus takes hundreds of cars off the roads and highways of your commute every day.
It doesn't matter if the bus driver made a mistake it doesn't matter if the bus cut you off, it is the divine right of the bus to do whatever the bus has to, because regardless of how you're inconvenienced by the bus merging in front of you or whatever the bus did that aggravated your petty small faced frustrations, the bus is still part of the solution, and you sipping your Starbucks alone in your 6 passenger vehicle are not a part of that solution.
When I’m driving Metro Transit police have been giving tickets for that and I love it.
people parking at bus stops is also annoying for passengers, one time I had an 18-wheeler block the bus stop and it made the stop completely invisible from the street, and thereby unusable.
Oh my goodness! You are so right! The disrespect of bus stops by cars drivers is unreal. I had to ask someone to move out of a marked layover spot so I could actually have my break one time. Crazy! People can't be that stupid. It's just rude and disrespectful.
There was another guy who literally parked at the bus stop all day everyday with his oversized 4WD. One wheel set on the road and the rest of his vehicle on the slim patch of dirt before the sidewalk started. This was probably outside his house, but dude, you have a driveway and a patch of grass you can park on on your own property! My God! 🤣
See this issue is worldwide!! So crazy lol. Some people just lack compassion.

@@BusDriverLife i once had 2 jaywalkers walkng in the left lane so i honked at them and they gave me the finger so what i did was blare my horn at them for well over i say 15 -20 seconds or so until they FINALLY decided to get out of my way while i was following at walking speed at night
Also another things MTA, NICE Bus drivers, and bus drivers doing subway/LIRR/MNRR Shuttle Bus drivers gets annoy by car that try to make right turn or left turn in front of bus that making turns.
I remember one time I was at 7th Av/41st St, taxi driver try to go around Newark Airport Express Bus (Coach USA) that was turning right, but I signal him to stop.
Also another I remember I was on NICE Bus n20H Hicksville that leaving Great Neck Station almost hit Great Neck Village taxi that suddenly came out of taxi space in front of BUS.
My dude out here saying what we all thinking. Keep educating them brother!
If they illegally park at bus stops, pull up and block their exit (assuming they're inside their vehicle) take a photo of their car registration send to parking rangers. Alternatively, take a photo of them put on Facebook and post on local media to shame them.
I might sit at the Teaneck Armory and record what goes on. Buses going from NJ to NY, they get all the commuter issues. Waiting on my start date for NJ TRANSIT. My church friend said to get in at the market street (Paterson, NJ) garage. Less Port Authority runs. We shall see.

As A bus rider, I often have witnessed a “good samaritan “ bus operator whom will stop for a potential rider and board them, those who hailed the bus will board and not have their fare ready for payment or have no bus fare at all looking for a FREE ride. I know this annoys the heck out the drivers here and they will kick those passengers off right away.
It happens all the time. I don’t normally put them off the bus unless they are being disruptive.
What pisses Me off is when a MF will have an ENTIRE BLOCK to legally park....but they park at the bus stop...😒

Know what you mean re bikes. Some of my routes took me through ASU Tempe & it was wall to wall bikes, eBikes, eSkate boards, etc. What annoyed me was they left the bike rack down, or it was a stolen bike & had to leave it on the rack until after shift or it was claimed.
Also in Long Island, Roosevelt Field Mall Bus Terminal in Garden City on south side of mall (near Stewart Av), there's cleary sign that says, "AUTHORIZED BUSES ONLY" but I have seen lots of moron drivers abusing bus only terminals, sometimes I seen some cars going wrong way and exit soon as bus enter at entrance only.
Also currently with construction work at LIRR Mineola Station, impatient car drivers CUT across BUS ONLY Mineola Transit Center.
I drive a bus here on LI , LI drivers are ATROCIOUS and some of the least considerate anywhere , especially concerning buses .
since im early.. last minute stop requests... the bus cannot stop in 10 feet...
So annoying especially when they get mad at the driver for not stopping lol.
We pull into bus stops, we don't swerve into bus stops
God I hate that so much! I'm not a bus driver myself but I have experienced that and everytime it's annoying!

I finally found this channel and I had heard about it through another bus related channel. I am a passenger, but as a friend to some bus drivers I do sympathize with what you're going through as one who gets us from here to there and back again. I am looking forward to finding more videos possibly in my feed through algorithms and any new videos you release over time.

@@BusDriverLife great stuff. I live in Toronto Ontario Canada and it seems that we have much the same things we both deal with as drivers and passengers alike. I can't imagine how you have to deal with such things as bike share and how narrow the drive is between the concrete platform and the other side of the street, which also has concrete platforms. That's a big bone of contention for me because we have a bike share outside my building, which took away a bus stop in front of our building and as someone who is blind, it has made that much more difficult for me in winter when there is an abundance of snow on the ground, to get to and from the bus stop. Anyway, I'm looking forward to watching future videos
being told " Your late" lol
I remember there was this one time in Queens NYC, a truck was in the area of a Q8 bus stop and the truck did not move at all… 😑 I found the driver to be absolutely ridiculous and foolish for doing that, he could have gotten a ticket or something!
I drive school bus the most annoying thing is when people stop well past the limit line at traffic lights and stop signs. It makes my life turning into tight neighborhoods or streets so much harder. That's why some stop signs are well back from the street corner so buses can make the turn with you there.

Great video Keywan. A very demanding job and doesn’t help when you have passengers complaining or other road users causing trouble.
What irks me as a passenger is when a bus driver does not curb the bus and is able to. Meaning noone parked in bus stop or near bus stop, no over hanging trees or signs. Oh then they comment oh didn't know you were disabled as you are in a wheelchair or have walker. Another good one another bus from a different route boarding or deboarding your bus approaching you let driver know that's blocking stop or try to and try to inform approaching coach who is one or two lanes over with no intentions of stopping and zooms by. Leaving passengers behind.
I'll tell you what really irritates me is when passengers wait until I pull up to the bus stop before they decide to put their mask on!😬
True mate and then start looking for tickets, I drove all the way to the city in peak hour , 50 minute trip . When I got to the last stop they finally found the tickets . Unbelievable, I never wait for these people to find their tickets.
In NYC, city buses and double-decker tours buses gets driving near Central Park gets annoyed by Central Park Carriages before and after NYCDOT's implement of Carriage ride dropoff/pickup are only allowed inside Central Park at 6th, 7th and 60th St/5th Av (Grand Army Plaza)
Before NYCDOT implement carriage drop off/pickup restriction, carriage used to double park on westbound 59th St from 8th Av, even blocking fire hydrant, well as west of Grand Army Plaza from 60th to 59th Sts.
Horse carriage drivers going to 60th St line up always MAKE illegal u-turn on southwest-bound only lane right in front of TOUR BUS.
It stills haven after NYCDOT's implemented, some times horse carriages coming from stable near Lincoln Tunnel and Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum premise has to use 10th and 9th Avs, also slow down the city and tour buses.
Also in front of Metropolitan Museum, there are taxi stand at 5th Av/82nd St on north side and sightseeing tour buses on south side at 83rd St. Sightseeing tour bus couldn't pull over to bus stop because of taxis waiting in line for taxi stand. I remember long time tourist came off Grayline Sightseeing Tour Bus (properly discontinue) alsmost got hit by taxi waiting when pass open door on bus.
Also all over NY-NJ, there are always people always block bus stops or bus terminals, including police officers doesn't seem to care about wheelchair passengers.

I've dealt with every situation you mentioned. I had a recent incident where on one of my routes I have to use all the space I need to make this corner on this tight one way street and (car drivers do this all the time) a vehicle was illegally parked there. Sign clearly states "NO STOPPING. BUS TURNS". Well I beeped my horn to get this guy to move. He gets angry with me and gives me the middle finger. This isn't the 1st time I've encountered this.
There was a situation where someone requested their stop and I had to curb the bus. But looking in my mirrors is the bike lane and there's a kid on a skateboard approaching that space I need to curb the bus. I stop to make sure he passes by safely but he stops after he saw my turn signal. So I proceeded with caution to curb the bus and the kid on the skateboard passes me on my drivers side. All of a sudden this Karen scolds me and tells me to watch where I'm going even though I clearly was moving carefully. "THAT KID WAS IN THE BIKE LANE!! WATCH WHERE YOU GOING!!". It's rough man.

I think to sum it up 'people' would be the answer to what annoys bus drivers the most. As far as encroaching into bus stops, I've had people stand on the road surface at a stop, facing away from the approach to the stop and talking on their mobile phones. It's quite funny to see their reaction when they're suddenly aware of a big shadow that descends around them.

I've been driving for a little over 3 months and this job is getting to me. I've been really stressed out between altercations with passengers, people hitting my bus, and other stuff. People say It will get better, but It's just getting worse 😏
That stuff will unfortunately continue to happen. You just have to change how you deal with it. Always have a person to vent to if possible. Prepare your mind for what you will potentially deal with and roll with it. Try to remember to positive interactions you have with people because those will happen too..and it helps lighten the load mentally. You got this! If later on down the line you feel that this career is not for you..that’s fine too. Just try to stay positive! I appreciate you watching and I appreciate the service you provide to your community!
@@BusDriverLife Thanks a lot man. I'm trying. My state pays a lot of money for the drivers. Some make 150K a year, so I really want to stick with It.
@@primetimesuspect I feel the same as you do, I've been an operating for close to 7 years, you get used to some stuff but the stress still remains, you have to find an outlet and also take care of your body, nothing worse than a stressful job and sciatica.
@@veganrican606 Some people are never stressed at my job and I don't get It. They never let things really get to them. I'm being transferred to a different location and there are no ghettos or crazy stuff going on like the place I'm at now lol.. I am big on going to the gym and working out though.
@@primetimesuspect They are stressed but they maybe process it differently or just good at hiding it, some people just for the money accept the stress. Gym is good, do stretching too, legs, back, neck, shoulders, all will get tight over time.

I pisses me off when they park at the bus stop and I have someone who has a disability and I can't let them off, I pretty much beeped the horn till they move or I ask politely to move for the reason I mentioned. If they don't move I just lean on the horn. When it comes to bikes I hate it when you've been waiting for traffic to let you out of a stop and bike comes around and won't let you out, you miss the opportunity to get out of a stop and traffic comes again and your in that fight again,I ride bike and I don't do that, I understand why some people hate cyclists, many have an entitled mentality.

One thing I hate while driving a car is when I am going the right speed limit on the highway but the cars behind me go off the right lane and pass me while going on the left lane and back to the right lane in front of me just so they can go faster!

Haven’t watched the whole video yet, but one of my pet peeves is people who pull the cord to ring for the next stop RIGHT AS WE’RE PULLING INTO A TRANSIT CENTER, WHICH BY THE WAY IS 👏 THE 👏 VERY 👏 LAST 👏 STOP 🤦♂️. I know it’s a perfectly stupid hill to die on, but it kills me to no end how stupid people are.

I drive in a rural area and I'm noticing more e bikes on the road impart because many people who got DUIs and their license suspended have opted to buy an e bike. News flash they were shitty drivers before their DUI and continue to be reckless on their e bike. They also tend to wear all black clothing, have no lights, and are out most often at night. Its the criminal mentality that drives this behavior in my opinion. E bikes are motorcycles and a license should be required.
Cars driver that for no reason jump on the breaks for no reason while on a highway do my head in seems for some car drivers there is no in between being on the gas pedal and being on the break pedal can't seem to get their head around the idea of letting their car cost when they don't need to be on the breaks.
It really annoys me when a fare evader gets on my bus knowing good and well they're short on bus fare or have no money at all and then pan-handles bus fare from paying passengers. It should be an arrestable offense!
