To be clear, the Obhur Corniche (pronounced ‘corneesh’) is not exactly on the sea, but rather on the Obhur Bay (or ‘creek’ in British English) north of Jeddah. This section has been here for decades, but the city has done a lot in the last few years to improve the area. Actually, the ‘new Corniche’ as you call it, is not new at all, either. It was built in the early 80s (including the Obhur section).
Yes we do mention in our video that the ''New Corniche'' is not new especially in comparison to recent developments as with the opening of the new public beach at Obhur together with other developments in its surroundings. We refer to it as the New Corniche as that is what one types on google maps but we did clearly explain that it isn't new at all, however the opening of the Obhur public beach is new to Jeddah which is awesome that the city is expanding on making the beaches more accessible to all.
@@HiddenGemExplore Actually, the work at Obhur re-opens the public beach that has existed there for decades, but closed since the pandemic. The city has expanded the actual sandy beach area somewhat and has made the promenade more like the Corniche to the south. I lived year-round in Jeddah for 9 years when all of this was built in the 1980s and maintain a second home there where I spend winter months. I’m going next week through the 3rd week of March, and look forward to seeing the renovated parts in Obhur. The shoreline on the south side of the bay, where you were, has always been public.
pay to stay at the beach which is actually in a creek (you won't see a thing if you snorkel), and they tell us why we don't go out anymore.. Huge respect for countries reserving areas for public beaches, for free!!!!
I think the issue with most beaches in Jeddah is that a lot of them are actually corniches rather than proper beaches with sand so space is limited to open many public beaches however this isn't the case for the entire country. Al Hassi beach in Madinah province is lovely and free and is ideal for snorkelling so is AlBirk beach which is also out of Jeddah
@HiddenGemExplore ya even the Corniches are getting smaller and smaller.. the only option is to go to uncharted beaches north of jeddah which will get you in trouble with the cost guard for swimming in them if they find out.. note that north Corniche has small beaches for sun bathing but coz some retard let their kid in alone and they died, officials just closed them 😢
I went here yesterday! It was awesome. Thanks.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
how to travle here from makkah
Jeddah is only one hour from Makkah. One can either rent a car, take a train, take the bus or a cab.@@farheenkhan4830
is swimming free?
@@kintlemon2509 Yes , as mentioned in the title.
Thanks for sharing. This is a wonderful video. Just a suggestion: it would be beneficial to share a google map coordinates for the locations.

You have to pay for a beach lol 😂
Private beaches are quite common in Saudi Arabia.
most are free ,but some are private beaches attached to hotels or beach houses etc
Can women wear bikini there
No as it is a public beach so one needs to adhere to modesty regulations, however bikini's can be worn on private beaches.
Why so obssessed with bikini wearing women? You are sick man!
