They didn't let them go they probably couldn't have done much about it. Seraina left because she wanted to focus on her own progressive rock project. Sonia left because she wanted to get back to her death metal roots though I suspect Sonia's real reason may have been her not seeing any future in the band after Seraina's departure. Seraina was the true star talent and pretty much next to impossible to replace for a small band like BW. I think Seraina made a mistake by leaving the band too early though cause she left just a few months before their Wacken 2019 show. She could have gotten excellent exposure had she sang in front of 80,000 people. Now she is still doing good music but in a very niche genre, she will have trouble getting recognition. Had she remained in the metal scene her chances of becoming a big name was far greater.

Simone van Straten from the band Sisters of Suffocation. She played few shows with Burning Witches after Alea left and before they found Sonia.
