    Im very satisfied with my purchase from 7 months ago. I already drove 12.000 km’s and now has 23k on the odo. Time for some maintenance.
    Its a very relaxed sitting bike but could also be very playful in the corners as well in the straights. the stock exhaust is on the quiet side but not boring. for me its the perfect bike and im gonna ride it for atleast 10 more years i hope. I haven’t had any issues, and the maintenance is not difficult to do myself. i got the 2021GT.

    I agree, best bike for 2023. Did 1000km on a demo bike. It was really awesome. Especially that handling is super. I ended up actually ordering one!

  • @bikerdup
    @bikerdup 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    I will soon be shopping for this bike. My biggest beef is that Yamaha use a right-hand thread to attach the left mirror and a left-hand thread to attach the right mirror. That's bass ackwards. The wind wants to blow the mirrors loose, especially if you're using any kind of mirror stalk extender.

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Tell me about it mate. I replaced my mirrors on my mt10 years ago. Almost buggered the thread by trying to put em on the ‘right’ way 🤣

    • @bikerdup
      @bikerdup 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@DSR1YT I did bugger mine. I found a right hand thread handle bar cap from a hydraulic clutch that I installed on the front brake side. Problem solved. Unfortunately the left side mirror mount is stripped and that is a wrap around pinch clamp. The mirror loosens and swings in. I'm using a zip tie solution to address this. It works well but isn't the most elegant thing on the planet. When the time comes to sell the bike. I will drill through the mount and mirror stud and drive in a 1/8" roll pin. A touch of black paint and no one will be the wiser. That said, why in God's name doesn't Yamaha just do the logical thing and reverse the threads?

    Looked like you were off roading on some of those backroads Matt lol. I previously owned an earlier model the CP3 engine is superb and all you need in the real world. This latest variant which I’d consider to be 4th generation certainly gets my thumbs up. Now starting to become pricey considering when released in 2015 they cost around 8k GBP new but that’s progress I suppose…….one thing that does look crap being only 1 headlight illuminated on dip why Yamaha do this is beyond me.

    I have a 2019 GT. It’s a great do it all bike. I think it looks better than the newer models. The side bags fit closer to the bike and are much better looking but do not hold a helmet…And, the exhaust pipes are nicer. I bought it used in 2020 with low miles and can’t see any real reason to spend lots of money to go newer. Don’t really need the new technology for my riding.

      Good question. Both are set at a great price point for what comes included as standard.

  • @Robert8455

    Nice review. While I like the upgrades from the older model, I think it falls short in a couple of areas. The TPS for example should be something that can plug into the screen have to go 3rd party solution. The screen is much nicer than the old design looks boring compared to BMW. Having to pay extra for a GPS subscription.... hell no. They should have made it work with Car Play / Android Auto. Price in US looks to be about 17,000 plus taxes which is a bit tall for a 3 cylinder middleweight. I think a slightly used BMW R1250RS would offer a lot value for less money with more power, shaft drive, better electronics. My friend picked up a Tracer (new old model) and got me fired up to replace my aging ZRX, not sure this is the one though.

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Robert. You never know, you might test this and it could change your mind completely. I’m glad they upgraded the screen. The twin look was very old school looking at not fitting for this model anymore. In the uk it’s a decent price point for what you get with it. 🤙

For nearly the same bike you can buy all day long now for 14k OUT THE DOOR that is the left over 2022s dealers get a TWO THOUSAND dollar rebate from Yamaha if they sell em! They CAN and ARE right now letting the left over 22s go so much cheaper! Like $5k LESS OTD? Is a nicer dash and radar cruise worth FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS? I think not!

    Great review, Matt. It'd be interesting to compare it to the updated Triumph Tiger 900GT when it comes out next year with this bike -- there's something inherantly special about triples. Impressed by the quality of your video editing, complete with cut-outs and text tagging. Subscription for Garmin GPS sucks. The UK might be OK for Carplay but places like Australia with huge expanses of no mobile data coverage are problematic for Carplay apps.
    BTW, your GSA will also quick-shift through the gears with cruise control on as well, as long as you don't touch the clutch, of course!

    Im now in the position to fund my 2 bike garage. After selling my 1250GSA, at 28 i didn't gel with it.
    So im either going down the route of..
    1.
    Tracer 9 GT+
    1290 Super Duke R
    2.
    1290 Super Adventure S.
    MT10 SP.
    Or knock 3 sectors of
    Adventure bike to go anywhere
    1090 Adventure.
    Tracer 900 GT - Road touring/commuter.
    1290 Duke/ Mt10 SP - weekend toy.
    Be interested to hear your thoughts.
    Cheers.

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's a hard position to be in when you've got these choices to make aye :).
      1290 SDR - crazy bike, to the point it's very aggressive and just wants to rip everywhere, not ideal for the country roads I live near, not sure on your local roads.
      MT10 - Owned one for 4 years, loved it, easy to ride smooth but then could rip it if you wanted, so that's a step up over the SDR which wants to kill you at all times :). (Also done some touring on this bike)
      You seem to have a lot of love for KTMs, me personally, after having had 3 different KTMs in our garage over the last 2 years, I had problems with them all and KTM themselves. Each to their own with the KTM route. Something to be mindful of though.
      Obviously I loved the 9 GT + as you can tell, I also put it down as my top bike under 15K for last year.
      Keeping with the KTM theme, it depends how much road riding / adventure riding you will be doing, so id be looking at the 1290 SAS if lots of road riding to get to some nice off road bits, or even the 890 ADV if it was less road riding and more off road / more technical off road bits.
      But then you've got other bikes like Hondas AT that is cheaper and more reliable than KTMs to throw in to the mix.
      Hope this helped a little, im interested to know what you think about my comment :)

      @DSR1YT Appreciate the help. I've been out all morning on some test rides and have 3 booked tomorrow.
      Settled on the KTM 1090 Adventure. Bare bones bike. No fancy electronics to go wrong, can add a cruise control kit and at £6k it's saved me £8000 on the Tracer 9 GT+.
      I'm now on my way to Yam to test the XSR900 and MT10 and have one of those as the weekend toy.
      Thanks mate.

Only downside I believe is that it is a bit pricy for my liking. But if that is not an issue I think it is great value nonetheless. the engine is one of the best developed and sold in the world and rightfully so. I have driven a xt660z prior to this one and I also own some other bikes. I adore it quite a lot. Perhaps only downside if you are a little older is that the way your knees bend slightly may not be for everyone when driving long days .. there is a small bend position for the legs because it is categorized as a sport touring, so def. go test ride to feel if it is alright, besides that, the bike is such a blast. @@richardentwistle918 I personally would be looking at something like the AT, its proved itself on road and off road. Where as the others you've mentioned aren't going to want to be taken off road. AT for the win.

    Why are you wearing a trade plate on your back ?

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sometimes Bransons don’t tax their vehicles. So they will give you their trade plate to wear to cover the bike.
      This would be the same for anyone taking a test ride not just me. 🤙

    A very nice test ride video. Very detailed and with a lot of useful comments. Got my like. By the way, I own the Tracer 9 base model and it has everything a daily rider may need. Can check my Yamaha Tracer 9 playlist. Just drop by. :)

    How can you say the ergonomics are good when your knees are bent at an acute angle. There is no way that bike is as comfortable as your gsa. Please stop giving us a read off spec sheet and give us a real review. Thks

    • @mart7798
      @mart7798 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      From what i can see during the review,his legs seem to be at a perfectly acceptable angle.this bike is a sports tourer aswell,not a bmw sofa on wheels.and to be fair,at 6'1 hes not average height.
      and as far as the 'read of spec sheet',if he just rode round saying 'yeah this is alright!' most people would ask why hes not telling us about the tech and the numbers?his reviews are on par with 44teeth and chopsy imo.its just the questionable beard i struggle with!😂

      That’s it. You’re both banned from commenting on my beard 😆.
      I found the bike comfortable no matter how my legs may have ‘looked’.
      People don’t want to go on to websites and read about a bikes stats hence why most will go onto TH-cam to be told. The way I review bikes works for me. Sorry if it doesn’t float your boat. 😁

      @@DSR1YT please what is your inside leg measurement, as that does impact things. Also did you not find the pegs slightly rear and high, which also impacts comfort, and finally did you not find that due to the angle of the seat ie angled down at the front caused you to continually slide into the petrol tank. Other testers have mentioned these uncomfortable aspects???? Thks
