I have a degree in computer science from a top university and I work in a restaurant. I have never been happier. The corporate coding grind was the most miserable thing ever. Now I get to walk around, talk to people, laugh, eat free food, etc all while making plenty of money. A mistake that I saw so often among my classmates was an intellectual approach to happiness. They would think “I’m not happy, so therefore I need to start studying philosophy and “think” my way into a happy life.” Then this just makes them more stressed and miserable. The more effort you put in to try to be happy, the less happy you will be. Just enjoy each moment of each day and don’t overthink it
I def agree that theres a point at which thinking too much about how to be happy becomes counterproductive--thats a really good point--but there's also some hella smart ppl in history who have really insightful stuff to say about being the most happy possible
@@Toemas Fair enough but tons of those smart people in history were very depressed/lonely in their everyday life. Depressed people are often the ones who think the hardest about how to be happy. I see this in my own life. Right now I’m the happiest I’ve ever been in my adult life and I almost never think about this stuff anymore
as an ivy league student, it is hard and there are moments of not being happy; however, i believe that the life i will live after college will outweigh all the moments of doubt ive had
In my opinion, life is all about trying to reach something. You're good at high-school to get in a good University, you get good grades at Uni to have a good job, that gives you money, a nice home so you can take care of your family and you work hard to get retirement money and finally enjoy, but then you just start looking back. That's just life.
