    I have been informed that the fish is this video was Southern Blue whiting, not the smaller whiting found along the shoreline of Australia and it's estuaries.

      King George Whiting which is Australia’s best, is found in South Australian waters and is larger than the Southern Blue Whiting.

    Whilst the food might not have been the best, that view on it's own made it worth the watch!

    Greg can you imagine going to a busy roundabout and setting up a table and chairs in the middle of it and filming a food review bahaha that would be gold.

    King George whiting are about 40 to 50 cm long here in SA. But what you was eating looked crap anyway. saving power not having the oil hot enough

  • @jessec9073
    @jessec9073 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    That headland in the distance to the south at the end of the video is Cabarita beach isn't it Greg? That's a bit of a drive from Pottsville where you bought them. Probably would have looked and tasted better if you ate it while it was hot.

    “My go-to fish‘n’chip shop is Scales in Tweed Heads, NSW. It’s my favourite spot, as the fish is pretty epic - it’s cooked in a good, crispy batter done right. Plus it’s right across the road from the Tweed River.

    im not sure what fish you got, but King George Whiting grow up to 72 cm and 4.8 kg - wikipedia

    • @brucie-of-bangor528
      @brucie-of-bangor528 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      At that price it would not ave been KG whiting. It was also the wrong shape and KG is realistically basically a Bass Straight fish that Victorians pay gigadollars for. Could have been farmed Barramundi or Ling. but certainly not Whiting.

  • @rckism4198

    I've noticed in every fish-n-chip vid you make, if it comes with a lemon, you always do the lemon test. But you NEVER like it! Always better without it. (Mayhaps you just don't like lemon on your fish?) We all know you don't like tartar sauce all that much either. Here in the States, we go for lemon, tartar or cocktail sauce which is ketchup and horseradish. Anywho, great vid as always Greg, keep it up!

  • @04paok
    @04paok 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Don’t know how small your whitings are up there Greggo, but the ones down here (south coast NSW) we catch are roughly 35 - 40cms long... Still though, that did not look like a fresh or whiting for that matter.

    Grego, the whiting fish that's native to aussie waters grows up to 50 or so cm, that's about 20 inches. What you ate could definitely be whiting, but I'm sure it was still frozen by the looks of it. :(

    That would be a NZ Blue Whiting Greg. Oh and would you call that essential travel driving down to NSW during covid19 restrictions? And judging by the "big night" you eluded to in both this and the Tweed River review (whilst wearing the same clothes) I guess it's lucky for you that you didn't get pulled over by the cops on drive down from the Gold Coast
