48 year old guy here, but this gave me goosebumps. After seeing the new Kawasaki SX-X, I had to find a X2 video. As a kid I raced these things. Motor was ported, polished & blueprinted, along with the entire impeller system. I was #486x lol 😊 I was “Rippin Ryan” and teammate was “Flyin Brian” lmfaoooooo God damn I miss the late 80s, early 90’s. Anyway you’re my new hero for finding one and pimping it out!
@@ryanpietroski343 That awesome Rippin Ryan 🤣. Glad my video brought back some great memories. I’m 40 and didn’t get into them until I was like 30. Been love it ever since. 🤙🏼
I know that engine like the back of my hand… and learned everything I know about motors here (or it began here) lol Fyi make sure you put in a supplementary bilge if plan to go nutty. Otherwise they are notorious for getting water in the gas tank. Luckily it doesn’t hydrolock a 2-stroke, but it will kill those Boysen reeds! Can’t tell you how many times I’ve pulled that 650 for that lol. My welded and balanced crank blew and I ended up giving it away to another family with a young son to fix up. Years ago. I miss it!
@ well it’s never to late to get back into it 🤣. I just got a superfreak freestyle ski so that’s a new adventure. I’m actually in the middle of doing a full rebuild on it as well. New videos will be up soon on that. The X2 was built for my daughter so I don’t plan on doing a crazy engine on it until she wants me too.
Just when I thought I built a sick ski and I see Chris drop this video… the bar has been set high yall. Great video and looking forward to more content. God bless and keep the videos comin!
@CoyoteChris 10 out of 10. That thing is sweet! I'm hoping to take mine out fir it's first test run on the water since I picked it up as a project last fall. Never owned an X2 before this one.
That’s a beautiful X2, really miss riding those skis, hard to find, every one I see are really trashed, what side exit exhaust are you using? I used to Run a supertrapp water box for freestyle, with a 750 motor, excellent job
Thanks, it turned out better than I expected. I’m not 100% sure which exit and waterbox. I had a friend give them to me and they didn’t have any markings. I looked them up trying to find some that looked similar but I failed. Thanks again 🤘🏼🔥
Hey Chris. been putting parts on an X2 this past year. Could you tell me what steering column/bars you use? been having trouble finding the right set up for my 89 X2. Thanks!
I have the stock column but I did trim back some of the steering plates bump stops to get more turn out of the steering. I have a video last year showing how I did it. As far as the handlebars I went with protaper klx110 bars. Hope that helps and thanks for the support. 🤘🏼🔥
@@CoyoteChris hey since you replied, What silicon did you use to seal the billet steering when you installed it. I just picked up a UMI for a X2 and theres 0 information or videos about the install?

@@takodac2469 That is exactly how I felt before we got one. Very wild looking ski and fun to rip around on. Definitely not a ski for jumping unless you do a lot of weight reduction or bigger engine but still a really fun ski.

@uptinsinclaire6193 that’s awesome, X2’s are very unique and super fun to ride. A bit heavy for their size but you can rip around so easily.

where did you get the colored front bumper and tape a lone the side edges of the X2
The bumper is from GPO and I think I got the rail turf from eBay or hydro turf.
