A fascinating story. My father told me stories of his time in the Hitler Youth. He claimed he was never as gung-ho as the rest and emphasized his negative experiences. When society pressures you to follow the wrong path, it is the rare person who can resist. Those who can change and admit the error of their ways deserve forgiveness and encouragement.
Excellent insights. Long may Rain provide such nuanced understanding of those who are brave in an environment of oppression, dishonesty, and corrupt compliance with the dictatorship.
Thanks to Farida Kurbangaleeva and all other Russians that are aware and do something. I hope Kaliningrad separates and becomes a free state. edit for typo.
Wow..am totally impressed with anyone who can revuew their previous life & motivations, then admit yes publicly, that their actions were wrong. This takes immense courage. And a real conscience. Farida, you have my admiration! from 🇨🇦
*Congratulations to Farida Kurbangaleeva for having the courage to leave so much and choose the good.* As a Swiss, I can hardly appreciate what this has meant.
Farida, congratulations! It will be a kind of paradise to have a democratic, respecting human righs, not imperial Russia as a neighbour. Greetings from Poland!
A very brave and intelligent woman, I hope she stays save and is an example + hope that many Russian intellectuals have the same values of non aggression . These are the people who will build a new Russia after this catastrophe is finished, we should give them all of our support.
Farida Kurbangaleeva brave and truthful. TANK YOU BOTH. As i understand Kremlin, Putin and FSB have a success, They have silent the people of Russia They don't dare to talk even to their friends. Independent organizations are named not desired, why is obvious People should NOT come together, they may TALK to each-other and realize they are NOT ALONE withe their thoughts
These ladies are to be commended for truthfulness and really, bravery to be so open given that Putin could impose punishment on these ladies. I certainly have the greatest respect for these ladies.
@@danielolsson4Well, if Trump would be enabled to become a dictator with the same powers as Putin, he would even be worse I‘m afraid. Saying this as a non American and rather not being a liberal, but as someone who knows enough about the human character and listen carefully to what individuals like Trump say and do long before he was a political figure.
@@danielolsson4 Compare Trump with Girkin ; starting to moblise a majority with propaganda to fight the regular government . Thats the way Girkin started the special military operation in ukraine.
Thank you Julia, for this interview. As an American, I lean towards believing her story and hope for consistent 'strokes of luck' in her future. But, as a supporter of Ukraine, I find her words shallow and self-serving. She can not resist the need to be in front of the camera. Interestingly and sadly, her phrase 'it is what it is' seems truly insightful, in their abjective, acceptance of their situation. Her use of "The big war" instead of the invasion of Ukraine also raises a red flag. Imo, she is simply a typical Moscovite that got out when the opportunity presented itself. Slava Ukraini, Free AZOV, Return the Children, Crimea is Ukraine and VPDFO.
You are reading too much into this. You realize even calling it a "war" in Russia can land you in jail? And yes, there is a reason for her to be on camera and tell her story -- it may encourage other people to quit the regime as well.
It should have been clear from the start that anyone who opposed Putin should have kept their mouths shut until they were safely out of Russia. Broadcasts, internet blogs, and other means of voicing criticism of the Russian government including in Russian would have been safe and could have carried on in opposition groups with far less danger. Staying in Russia was a major risk that could have resulted in prison and death. Russia was already a fascist nation with a fascist government. The misplaced love for Russia, the illusion, the naive hope that things would get better kept a lot of people from seeing clearly what was coming and what danger they would be in staying. Russia is now dead. The minor day to day gains for villages and towns in Ukraine can't offset the utter collapse of Russia's military, economy, political and social cohesion that will result in the end of Russia. Within five years everyone who has not left Russia will be dead. The conditions to sustain human life in that froze over hell are dwindling and will completely disappear.
If Russia could just get a female president, then much would be solved. There is no other country where the sex of the president would make a greather difference.
@@GrahamCStrouse I do not necessarily agree with that, but I am thinking of the ladies who were denied participation in the election. They sounded normal, and sensible.
I think most you Russian journalist supported Alexey Navalny and his politics still after Crimean annexation. He was not such a bad guy opposing Putin. Seems she was a more responsible in reacting than many of you now in opposition.
Navalny was dangerous for Putin due to his ethnic Russian centric program, he was sort of racist. Russian Federation can collapse only if ethnic Russian do it like in 1918.

The last female Russian ruler was Catherine. She was worse than most of Russia’s male Tsar’s.
