    You know, there was a time I really didn't like this channel. I couldn't even tell you a reason, just had some sort of bias toward it. I just revisited it after about 3 years, and not only are you super informative, you're hilarious.
    It's been really bothering me for a few days, and I'm not sure why. I've probably watched 20 of your videos in the last week and loved every one of them.
    Keep doing what you're doing - nobody else in this community really has any content like yours, and it makes you stand out in a good way.

      I can’t tell you how many channels I’ve done the exact same thing. Just get a bad first impression for whatever reason and decide I don’t like them. Some of my fav channel are ones I hated at first 😂 good on you for having a change of heart. Many folks don’t have that ability.

      Roughly 2 or 3 years ago he put out a lot of videos that were very strange, I liked them (I have the type of immature sense of humor that appreciates a grown man in a giant dick costume) but I wouldn't be surprised if they were a bit off-putting to some people.

      It's like white bread compared to whole grain. The white bread is easier to like at first but the whole grain gives you something to digest and work with.

      Love the music that you put into these vids. Can't wait to see the maxamet results. The edge retention on all these new steels is pretty crazy seeing how not too long ago VG10 was considered a super steel. Hope your arm is doing okay, all these cut tests seem pretty exhausting especially when so many are getting into the high hundreds of cuts.

    Great timing on this video!
    I've been doing some testing on Vanax recently and I was getting some pretty great results; better than all but one of the m390/20cv knives I've tested. All the information Ive read has lead me to expect the exact opposite, so I was really starting to second guess myself. This was good for (what little remains of) my sanity.

    • @CedricAda

  • @ciderandthorazine

    wouldn't it be good if there was a cutting medium that could expose a difference in edge-holding with far fewer passes. like some-sorta gnarly sheet material that 440A could generally slice 1 time, VG-10 5 times and M390 13 times. just for the sake of edge-testers' joints and tendons.

    • @Freakmaster480
      @Freakmaster480 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, look up dbks rope test. This test is practical for different reasons though. The results of this test are going to be more granular and allow tougher knives with higher edge stability a bit more of an advantage. It allows us to get a differernt view of edge retention while remaining comparable to his previous testing.

    Same angle maybe, but what about thickness behind the edge ? Different knives have different geometries, so your protocol doesn't exactly test for steels, more for knives and makers heat-treat. But you know it, and I am not saying that it's not useful. Maybe I am wrong and thickness doesn't play such a role in rope cutting?
