A new AI challenge hell yes. I wish they had given alphastar for us to play with it would have made a really fun bot to do these kinds of challenges against.
After Sc2 came out a couple years later I went to play BW again, and it was really not being able to select multiple buildings at once more than the 12 units, and the pathing. Most of the battle in brood war is fighting against the interface

Before watching the video, the biggest advantage would be that Brood War siege tanks and spider mines are insane. But you will have issues against air. Goliaths are good but they wont save you from tempest and broodlords. Lets see if Im right.
Iraddiate is too expensive to use on zerglings, it's used against key zerg units like mutalisk clumps ,lurkers,defilers and ultras (using ultras on can backfire if they attack your marines and gain bonus splash damage)
I remember that you could actually win 1v many against AIs pretty easily in Brood War because the AI was allergic to air units and got stuck on ramps so you could just camp some static defense and splash units like lurkers, tanks, or templar.
Pros: Siege Tanks cost 2 supply so you can just pump them for splash. The Marines also get thr ranged upgrade so it's easier to keep them on the defensive. Cons: No Planetary Fortress, so you'll have to rely on just the CC for your hardest walls.

god damn Siege tanks are crazy from Brood War. would Medic's Restoration ability counter the fungals? it'd be an investment to get the research and all through the academy but it might pay for itself through repair costs on a challenge like this
With WOL or HOTS balance, it is true that some Broodwar Terran units have better stats than their SC2 counterpart but with the current balance of LOTV, all SC2 terran units had been buffed to be far stronger than when they were in Broodwar. The only advantage Broodwar still has over SC2 is the eco system of BW. Each SCV harvest 8 mineral and 8 gas per trip that is 75% and 100% better than SC2. This works in conjunction with the low supply cost of BW units allowing incredibly massive army the like SC2 can't ever see. It seems to me that this mod had already attempted to balance BW units with SC2 stats for example the marine is 40 health in BW and not 45 as in this mod. Hence, I don't think BW Tank in this mod is any stronger than SC2 tank. If anything, defensive structure in BW has much lower health than in SC2.
Marc, next time you can just walk away from the Zerg base after killing the Hatchery and allow the receding Creep to slowly kill the rest of the buildings. I was wondering why you didn't just do that.
I know they don't function exactly the same, but all these BW terran units you're describing for SC2 players /do/ exist in SC2. Goliaths, Science vessels, Wraiths, Vultures, etc. were lightly revisited during the Wings of Liberty campaign missions.
Definitely some room for improvement. Getting the science facility for 2-0 upgrades instead of 1-1. Better concave with the siege tanks. Use the irradiates on the ultralisks instead of random smaller units. And instead of getting goliaths or valkyries, I would just put all those resources into more science vessels because they generate free energy to use for defense matrix and irradiate. Valkyries dont have a long attack range, their attacks just chase after units for a long time after they are fired, so they dont counter long range air units. Brood War Terran doesnt really have anything that counters long range air units, they struggle vs Zerg Guardians and Protoss Carriers.
Lockdown is absolutely massive in SCII, blows its' Interference Matrix counterpart out of the water. EMP from science vessel is another good one, and Valkyries are apparently very good. Or, so I've heard on that last bit. For me, I prefer having cloaked air units that shoot up, chasing away or shutting down those Overseers so I can continue my assault. Biggest weakness by far is eco. Having no mules bites, and having to choose between scans and nukes means I usually can't dump scans all over the place, and if I liftoff I can't take the scan with me, which sucks.

Other way around. Protoss had minerals, so it was making zealots but the Terran only had gas so it couldnt even make marines. Terran dies and leaves gas to Toss, Toss made High templar and Sentry both being gas units
Idea for X to GM: All units challenge. You can make at most X supply of a unit until you've done this for all units. (12 supply would be the most easily split)
Have you tried a 1 v 7 in Starcraft, the original game, i dont know how much better you are then i am but it is a lot for sure. In the original game just starcraft, me and my friend was trying to do 2 v 6ai and that was really hard. We faced rushes, drops, storms, nukes, just endlessly on one of us, since we were allied. and they were also all allied. I remember just starting my second base and before it was done, before me and my friend even had any real troops, 20 zerglings just killing my second base, i of course started training troops like mad, and then i abandoned the second base maybe 2-3 seconds before it would go down, i still didnt have a single chance in the world. I remember getting my second base easy, building defense like mad just to have 5 broodlords killing everything. I remember having 10 lurkers to defend against zerglings just to be overrun with nyduses. Me and my friend we failed maybe 10-20 maps before we finally beat the AI in original starcraft. But note we were not in any way the best players.
Also science vessel is OP, I used to defense matrix my nuking ghost if it was discovered, it makes it so much harder to deal with (I also used two or three ghosts at once).

I only did once Terran vs 7 Random AI in Brood War once long time ago, on map Big Game Hunters, but now I have no skills for this anymore, need time to practice everything from beginning again.

Would have helped greatly with the flank that came later (27:00) both in terms of tanking and vision. He probably still would have lost some tanks and goliaths but not as many I think.
As a noob, I gotta ask - why not use the Science Vessels mechanical heal during the late game clean-up while everything was so bruised up? I saw you used it in the early portion of the game - so why not near the end, when they were spending most of their time completely full on energy?

Is that a joke or do you know something I don't? They are 40hp rather than 45 in SC2, and they have a range of 4 without upgrade while SC2 give marines 5 range from the get go. The damage per shot and the firing rate is the same, isn't it? There's no reactor, and the shortcut is M. They don't have any advantage that I know of.
@@mh1593 They literally have 2 upgrades: get equal range to SC2 marines and Stim. They don't have Combat Shields. Fully upgraded BW Marines have 40 hp and 5 range with Stim for -10 hp. Fully upgraded SC2 Marines have 55 hp, and 5 range with Stim for -10 hp. BW Stim is giving a higher fire rate than SC2 Stim, is that what you are referring to? They have higher DPS but only 30 hp, compared to the 45 hp of the SC2 Marines, after using Stim. Both get 50% extra movement speed, so that isn't different.
@uthermal 9:39 watch the enemy as they funnel down your half wall they don't attack your buildings and just feed them selves to the tanks, i watched this like 6 times i think you could exploit the ai more this way then building a full wall all the way out. If you give them a lane that is small that gets very close to your units before stopping to attack the lane wall.

@@AntiDoctor-cx2jd BW Battlecruiser does not have moving shot. That is a clear disadvantage. They also have one very powerful shot, which overkills a lot. It is better vs high health and high armour targets but worse vs almost everything else. The weaker multishot is better vs Marine, Zergling, Stalker, Hydra, Muta, High Templar, all workers etc.
@@AntiDoctor-cx2jd I am not talking about the Yamato cannon. I am talking about the standard attack. BW BC has got an attack that is one high damage but slow attack. The SC2 BC has got several smaller attacks. In Legacy of the Void the BC deals 8 damage per attack with a DPS of 50. In Broodwar the BC deals 25 damage per attack with a DPS of 20. My late night energy and ambitions took over and my nerdy side wanted to elaborate: It takes more than a second between shots in BW while the LotV BC fires more than almost 8 shots in the same time, exactly 7.875 shots if my math is correct. The old one needs 2 shots to kill a Marine, regardless if it has used stim or not, regardless of Armor upgrades for the Marine and Attack upgrades for the BC. The modern BC needs 6 shots to kill a standard issue Marine, which takes less than 1 second. 7 shots with Combat Shield, one less shot if stimmed and each Attack or Armor upgrade is affecting the numbers. The math is similar for all workers, both High and Dark Templar as well as Zerglings, Hydras etc. I'd argue that BW BC is way, way worse than LotV BC. 20 vs 50 DPS, move while shooting, Feedback and EMP proof due to not requiring Energy, can teleport, upgrades matters, building BCs isn't the only reason to build a Fusion Core. A full Armor Ultralisk is basically the only thing that takes more damage from the BW BC. The 7 Armor reduces enough to tip the scales. 6 Armor would be a marginal difference with BW having a higher DPS. The LotV BC deals more DPS vs targets with 5 Armor.

This was a bit painful to watch. Dude as you move your army to clean up their bases fly your buildings over and let them scout/tank (even land) in front of your army. If they land in front of your army then enemy units like zealots and ultralisks have to walk around your buildings to get to your tanks. So many tank loses were totally preventable there.

Mech is way too weak nowadays, but mech was highway too weak in wol. So, if your name isn't goody, you couldn't do anything with real siege tanks coming in so late.
not a challenge I am afraid. 1. The challenge is a fight on a map where there are at least 2 ways to your main base and one additional way to your natural. 2. there were no Defilers. ... Go new map with more ways and against zergs only.

most, if not all, of those BW units are actually in the game, in the campaign as well as co-op.

bw unsieged tanks behave weird in sc2. In bw the damage output /minute is acutally higher when they are unsieged
Why didn't you build any scanners on CC's and use them, it would make things easier...

It is better vs high health and high armour targets but worse vs almost everything else. The weaker multishot is better vs Marine, Zergling, Stalker, Hydra, Muta, High Templar, all workers etc.

@@AntiDoctor-cx2jd I am not talking about the Yamato cannon. I am talking about the standard attack. BW BC has got an attack that is one high damage but slow attack. The SC2 BC has got several smaller attacks. In Legacy of the Void the BC deals 8 damage per attack with a DPS of 50. In Broodwar the BC deals 25 damage per attack with a DPS of 20.
My late night energy and ambitions took over and my nerdy side wanted to elaborate:
It takes more than a second between shots in BW while the LotV BC fires more than almost 8 shots in the same time, exactly 7.875 shots if my math is correct.
The old one needs 2 shots to kill a Marine, regardless if it has used stim or not, regardless of Armor upgrades for the Marine and Attack upgrades for the BC. The modern BC needs 6 shots to kill a standard issue Marine, which takes less than 1 second. 7 shots with Combat Shield, one less shot if stimmed and each Attack or Armor upgrade is affecting the numbers. The math is similar for all workers, both High and Dark Templar as well as Zerglings, Hydras etc.
I'd argue that BW BC is way, way worse than LotV BC. 20 vs 50 DPS, move while shooting, Feedback and EMP proof due to not requiring Energy, can teleport, upgrades matters, building BCs isn't the only reason to build a Fusion Core. A full Armor Ultralisk is basically the only thing that takes more damage from the BW BC. The 7 Armor reduces enough to tip the scales. 6 Armor would be a marginal difference with BW having a higher DPS. The LotV BC deals more DPS vs targets with 5 Armor.

When I said they weren't, that was a quote and I was laughing at it. They are better now because they don't have energy and have jump.
This was a bit painful to watch. Dude as you move your army to clean up their bases fly your buildings over and let them scout/tank (even land) in front of your army. If they land in front of your army then enemy units like zealots and ultralisks have to walk around your buildings to get to your tanks. So many tank loses were totally preventable there.

not a challenge I am afraid. 1. The challenge is a fight on a map where there are at least 2 ways to your main base and one additional way to your natural. 2. there were no Defilers. ... Go new map with more ways and against zergs only.

@@LGB-FJB you know what? I suffer right now, stop being rude. I got a strep throat 5 days ago and taken antibiotics and didn’t take probiotics. I had watery diarrhea 20-30 times. I vomited. I feel very bad and I really think whether or not I should go to the hospital. Thanks for the rudeness though… I can barely watch whatever. Haven’t slept last night and can t take a nap. I feel horrible
