I mean, this routine is phenomenal. Even today’s gymnastics could not rival yang bo’s execution. She is still the beam worker i have seen in my 30+ years of watching
This is and always will be among the top 5 greatest beam routines in history. It is one of a handful that qualify as The Gold Standard for beam workers everywhere.- That it got a 9.85 is nothing more than political BS.
Chinese are often underscored, just like Yuanyuan Kui's beam routine at 97 Worlds and Yilin Yang's uneven bar routine at both team final and event final at 2008 Olympics. Both Kui and Yang should have won golds.
9.850...9.850... No, that is wrong. This was a 10. If there ever was a 10 on beam it was here. The exceptional beauty of Yang's routine, the purity of her gymnastics - screw the judges, this is perfect!
I agree Shatarupa I can't tell you how many times I've watched this trying to figure out the score ......reminds me a lot of what Simone Biles is going through with the new code of points there have been plenty of times where she should have been justly rewarded of the new "10"& I think judges are intimidated in terms of it all epic fail So sad these kids work so hard to get shit on like this throw em a bone
interesting to see Yang Bo do a full split during her lay-out step out series...other gymnasts can't even do a full split..i can compare Zamolodchikova's bhs step out and layout step out series..not in full split..
BS scoring. She had like one extremely minor wobble after her Yang bo jump, other than that flawless. But not only was she flawless, her form and artistry was absolutely gorgeous. I also like the commentator, she gives good insight for unfamiliar people and even some background info on previous performances of the athlete
She had a small adjustment on her yangbo jump, but she has done flawless routines and they never gave her props. I can count 4 routines she has done that where deserving of 10s
Have you ever seen anyone more confident on a 4-inch wide beam in your life??When it all went well for Yang Bo, she was untouchable. Unfortunately, it didnt all go to plan; her consistency wasnt, if you get me, which was a shame, as she was truly awesome on beam.
Seems to me that judges in minor competitions have a tendency to mark lower . She still won convincingly so I see no problem. A rare stick on her dismount for Yang Bo.
I know what you mean about the score; surely that is a joke!! When you look at some of the "perfect 10 scores" which were handed out during the 1980's this deserved a 20!!!
Yeah, I have to laugh at the low score considering certain routines the judges would award perfect tens during this era. Judging perhaps has gotten a bit better, but is still very bad
Where on earth could judges deduct from that???There was a very tiny almost imperceptible wobble at the beginning, but not worth the deduction they took!!!She should have scored a 9.95 and one tenth for a tiny wobble!!
you know what I think, flexibility is a minimum requirement. I mean, all gymnasts should already have that..and those who don't, well, will have to improve to get good scores..hehhehehe
I mean, this routine is phenomenal. Even today’s gymnastics could not rival yang bo’s execution. She is still the beam worker i have seen in my 30+ years of watching
Exquisite. Poetry in motion. My gosh she was so underscored for such a perfect routine.
In this quad with this COP it’s unconscionable for this not to have received a perfect score
Probably the best beam worker to EVER live. I love Yang BO!

I was just about to holler ‘9.85?!’ One of the few routines I thought worthy of a 10. So breathtaking.
If only she had done this routine in Barcelona. Gold medalist for sure. Such a shame she was inconsistent. She was a master of the beam. The best!
THE best I've ever seen her do this routine. SOOO GOOD!
The height of her layouts is crazy.
If this were performed at any World Championships today, I definitely think this would be on top. Just gorgeous.

The only mistake i could see was the very slight wobble after her leap at 0:49. Other than that, perfection.
Yang Bo gave a beam clinic!
not only is that rulfova combination sensational, that rulfova itself is incredibly high!
This is the bestest, most flexible , beautiful beam routine I’ve watched in my entire life !
that deserves a 10 more than any other routine in history
That is the greatest beam routine of all time and it’s 2020
In this era and COP this routine deserved an 11.
underscored is right. Yang Bo is perhaps the best beam Chinese beam worker ever
QUEEN
10 !!!!!

Top 5 best beam workers of all time.
It seems like 20 years ago, China was strict on judging!
absolutely stunning
Oh... my... goodness!!! Is that Elfi Schlegel?! Wow. I didn't think she was THAT old. Man, kudos to her for commentating for that long!!!
Absolutely stunning. Really dazzles the mind.
WOW spectacular from beginning to end

Amazing beam routine....
Best beam routine EVER! I love Bo!
Amazing!
perfection. I can't believe this didsn't score a 10.

Extremely underscored

best routine ever
Shoulda been a 10.0!
And 3rd place was Annia Hatch! Hard to believe she was still lcompeting in 2004.
Outrageous!!Did any of the judges actually WATCH this routine?????
Seems to me that judges in minor competitions have a tendency to mark lower . She still won convincingly so I see no problem. A rare stick on her dismount for Yang Bo.
She is great, I just love her style.
GORGEOUS!
She is beautiful on the beam!
Maravilhosa!!
Amazing
9.850? that cant be true
Gorgeous, one of the best beam rountines ive EVER seen.
OMG, Portuodo in 3rd - is that Annia Hatch?
The best routinr
80s and 90s Chinese and Russian beam work is absolutely exquisite, they just dont do it like this anymore, unfortunately 😢
I know what you mean about the score; surely that is a joke!! When you look at some of the "perfect 10 scores" which were handed out during the 1980's this deserved a 20!!!
OMG. Was that Annia Hatch in third place? 89? Dang.
9.850..Is it not a bit low?
Tied with Fan Ye :)
Would still win gold. Wow.
Perfect 10!!
How old was she here?

i think the only gymnast coming close to yang bo in terms of the lay out step out split is gina gogean
had she stuck the dismount during the worlds, she would have won.
OMG. You've got to be kidding me. This was obviously before the gymnastics world knew anything about beam.
you know what I think, flexibility is a minimum requirement. I mean, all gymnasts should already have that..and those who don't, well, will have to improve to get good scores..hehhehehe
She may get the Gold if she is doing at stuttgart,
0:20
Yeah. She looks about 12 here.
She had a small balance break after her jump with her head back. That’s about the only thing you can deduct from this routine.
Her only break I saw was her balance check on her jump.
