Also in the early game we made the mistake of not picking up "cellulase" when we had the chance because we jumped the gun and changed our class to "Vertebrate" too soon.

    Love how they mentioned cows make short chain fatty acids, which is actually what makes up most of their calories.
    Also non-rumenants aka hind gut fermenting herbivores use their caecum for cellulose digestion. In humans it's atrophied to the appendix though, but is still a good reservoir for bacteria for reseeding after infections or antibiotics.

    Cows don't have a 4 chamber stomach, they have 4 separate stomachs. Also food goes into the ruman first, is then brought up as cud, rechewed, swallowed and sent into either the ruman or reticulum, then into the omasum, and lastly to the abomasum (which is a true stomach like ours).

    Here's my question: if it were possible for us to digest the grass properly, how nutritious would it be? How much would a human need to eat to satisfy, let's say a 2,000 calorie/day requirement? Also, does it provide any vitamins/minerals? (possible solution to eating grass would be to grow a suitable organ for the proper cellulase producing microbes to thrive in, inserting it above the stomach)

      Yes, I think so. I know that grass such as wheat grass contains tons of nutrients. Supposedly, for human, one shot, or 2 oz, of wheatgrass juice (because we cannot digestive plain, unjuiced grass) contains more nutrients than 5 pounds of veggies and fruits...

Just eat a handful of raw broccoli or a fresh spinach salad and you would get just as much nutrients and vitamins if not more, plus the healthy fiber that wheatgrass juice doesn't have. There is no such thing as a "miracle food", just predatory companies and people making money off of gullible consumers desperate for an easy solution to a complex problem.

      What is the leading cause of death in the US and what is the cause?

    • @lupuscorvus841
      @lupuscorvus841 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, considering the fact that our stomachs don't have the enzymes to digest cellulose AND the fact that humans have a simple digestive tract which most closely resembles that of Carnivores, I'd have to say that is complete and utter bullshit.
      There's also the fact that our bodies are highly dependent on saturated fats for many functions in the body (which mainly come from animal sources) as well as proteins. The protein synthesis that our bodies undergo are mostly compatible with animal proteins as those are the most easily digested and absorbed by the body.
      Now, if you wanted to argue that the chemicals and hormones that they pump into our meat sources are terrible for you, then I'd agree with you vehemently. I also think animals should be raised in a healthier manner than spending their entire existence cooped up in some industrialized building living off of nothing but unhealthy grains and formula.
      But ultimately, eating meat is better for you than living entirely off of vegetation as most of the nutrients in plants cannot be absorbed by the body again, due to our bodies' inability to break down cellulose.

    • @lazsatori
      @lazsatori 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your response and passion.
      Everything we need can be gotten from nuts and seeds far better than animal sources.
      The issue is not about cellulose, that is fiber to us, and there are plenty of easy tricks to exposing the food. Cellulose is not a factor in digesting nuts and seeds, which has your saturated fats too!
      Yes, the toxins from the meat are terrible, but the microbe and parasite risk is far worse.
      And to the sensitive individual, the one who can perceive life as consciousness, the vibe is poor. Yes, Poor. Death consciousness is furtive and negative. Where living food awakens and quickens the spirit and mind..

If the grass is to long the stomacks cant process it enough. I dont have the english words for it but it is bad for the chambers her to. If they eat only straw they can not process it in what so ever so they die of starvation. Optimum is about 10 cm or 4 inches long grass!
