2020 and the project is still kicking in JKB's metaphorical womb. He's streaming every friday on his twitch account and it's getting harder and harder not to show spoilers, so I expect large periods of silence or stupid small irrelevant features to be added on fridays... because that would mean we are getting closer to the release. See you all on the speedrun leader boards soon.
I've been listening to what's available of the Corrupted soundtrack for years, and I was convinced it couldn't get better. I was wrong. You should do more Corrupted tracks!
+danooct1 Yup. You can check out JKB's facebook or youtube account, he uploads stuff every now and then. In fact, he made a couple of stream vids some weeks ago. They've made steady progress over the last few years and I have the feeling that the game could be ready soon enough (or at least, that's what I hope. Maybe I'm just a wishful thinker). As far as I'm concerned, the game looks gorgeous. Looking forward to playing it.
I didn't even know this game was a thing until you uploaded this. Your music makes me interested in it! Anything you've ever done makes whatever it's associated with better.
***** Bitches be using SNES! They cannot, I say again CANNOT! Apperciate a propper square wave my man. That is why dem bitches be bitches, but dem cool cats on Megadrive... wooohee.. those daddys and Mommas know to appreciate a goooood square when they hear one. Ya catchin' me my brother? If so preach it baby PREACH IT until dem rocks and bushes themselves sing yo gospel.
I'm really digging that Chorused Pulse (plus the vibrato place on it for the "climax" of the song). What percentage is it at? It feels like a simultaneous combo of a quiet, noise-ridden 25% and a 45-50%
+SpiralPegasus Sega Genesis only had six sound channels, so this remix wouldn't leave room for sound effects like buster shots and dealing damage. Mixed with the Genesis's low sample quality it might actually sound kind of bad on genesis.
RockEsper Muting a channel for 2 seconds is entirely possible - I mean, how do you think any cartridge based console did it? Besides, lol! Samples only sound bad if you don't compress them properly. I mean, which SNES game have you heard with drums as good as the ones you hear here? Those drum sounds you listen to... are samples.
I notice that you don't use PSG 3 in any of your visualized works. Is there just not a need for it when translating songs, or is there a technical reason?
+ViewtifulJason The PSG noise has 2 pitch modes. One mode freely controls the noise, but what is actually happening is square 3 is what is controlling it, so if you have square 3 making a sound while in that mode, it will play whatever frequency you're using for the noise, in this case, it would be high pitch chirps. The second mode is what Master System games mostly do. Square 3 can be used freely, but you can only have 3 default frequencies to use for the noise; a low pitch, a middle pitch, and a high pitch.
+ViewtifulJason psg3 can be used to control the pitch of the psg noise channel, essentially sacrificing the extra square wave to get a nicer sounding white noise for the hi-hats
For trackers there is VGM Music Maker (no longer updated) and Deflemask which can output straight to .vgm format. For DAWs there are many VSTs at this point. Aly James FMDrive is the most hardware-accurate. VOPM is an older YM2151 VST which I used to rely on, but ultimately it just crashed too often for me. Then there's Native Instruments FM8. There's also DXConvert which lets you convert .opm banks ripped from .vgm files to sysex, which can then be loaded into FM8 and probably several other FM synthesizers.
God. Damn. The game aint even out yet and here you are making the music even more awesome.
I think both are equally incredible in their own right
This version of this song crawled into my head out of nowhere just now. And so here I am listing to this again.
The YM2612 is such an underrated sound chip.
YM2608 tho........
they both sound amazing
because is
I don't think so, now with the modern era of indie games those are the chips more requested for their games instead of the sample tunes.
So I disagree
percussions ❤

hows that working out for ya
I hope it’ll get released some time before 2030
0:51 best part (imo)
I also feel this is the best part of this theme
Fantastic! I really appreciate the PSG and lead combo.
Good ear, I was wondering how he got it so "square-ish."
Damn!
Metalltool, i just wanna say; dat you are da shit, bro!

I really like this too. I'd still probably prefer the original tho since it fits the atmosphere of the stage from what I've seen.
this game is still being developed? i haven't heard about it in years

Guifred Strucc

Your profile pic is a fly (or looks like it) and your videos are about computer bugs and viruses...
*Neurohack Mosquito is that you?*

It would be sick to play Megaman X Corrupted with soundtrack like that!
0:51 Kreygasm Overload!
Word, this part was boss. The guy who made this song Genesis-fied KNEW what he was doing.
It's absolutely better than OG for me. It just has this grimy bounce to it all and super catchy with the harmonization. 0:51 for sure.
Love it. 1:28 sounds like a sound effect out of Gunstar Heroes
The bass sounds great on my subwoofer!
Dominic Ninmark is the Setsuo Yamamoto of the new millennium.
Been loving your shit since I was a kid and you went by Gecko Yamori.
The pitch bends in this one are my favorite part. The original track was great, and this is even better.
Warfare Warehouse Zone: Act 1
cool music!
You should make an entire ost from this game. This track sounds so good!
There's something about this track, no matter what kind of cover it is, that gets my eyes a little soaked.
It's Megaman X at its peak, energetic, and focused.
Dem Rent-A-Drums!
+Gallium Grant And dem Square Waves! THEM BE SO SQUARE! Ya dig it?
+DehnusNorder But bitches can't rent em'!

Wait, is this Gecko Yamori, aka one of the composers that made the OST of SORR? If that's so, this is mindblowingly awesome!
+Guifred Strucc It is him! Indeed!
No way. Explains why the original X3 opening stage Genesis cover disappeared.

wow
🐡
Warp Vulpex sometime? : D
So much better than the original.
i'd kill to see this in an hour loop.
Rad as hell.
savage!
Better than the original =,)
Since the game's still in development.....can this theme be an unlockable?
Mega Man X was _meant_ to be done on Mega Drive _from day one_.
*Deal with it!*
+SpiralPegasus Sega Genesis only had six sound channels, so this remix wouldn't leave room for sound effects like buster shots and dealing damage. Mixed with the Genesis's low sample quality it might actually sound kind of bad on genesis.
+RockEsper the sound affects could be put on the psg as it can play samples and its also been proven that the dac can be split up to 4 times

+SpiralPegasus There is the Rockman X3 bootleg on Mega Drive *kappa*
DoomMan
Yeah, and it's terrible. You can't use that for comparison... wouldn't be fair to put an A grade official game vs. an unfinished bootleg one.
Is there a MIDI download of this?
vgm please!

how did you create this? i use deflemask often and would like to know where you got the midi or sheet music
Just curious. How do you make Genesis chiptune like this? I've been researching and I can't find a reliable way to do it.

Savaged Regime Thank you! I'll make sure to check them out.
Usually when i do this, i use FL Studio and a special midi driver so i can export it for my sonic hacks
