When I am having a stressful day I find myself coming to this video, especially for the opening scenery. It is just a peaceful calm that is hard to find in this age.
Being a kiwi, I tend to be somewhat critical of how visitors film our country. In my opinion, this is one of the best videos I have seen....well done. You captured the aura of one of my favourite places here. Mount Cook was a special place to my English born late wife.. So much so that the mountain is engraved on her headstone... Thank you for posting this, a really good quality video..☺☺

I visited New Zealand more than 10 years ago and it remains the best trip I've ever taken. I lived in a small VW type wagon, bathed very similar to Micheal ( only one week) . If you dare try out canyoning and glacier walking. Zorbing in the upper island was great fun. The most beautiful place I've ever seen. A very special place.
There's a real purity in New Zealand . It's actually not an easy thing to find in our world anymore. It's a unique place because it is so far away from the rest of the world. Thank you again for bringing this small piece of paradise to us.
So picturesque...almost unreal Christine. It's always been a dream of mine to explore NZ...I'm sure i will. One of the most beautiful countries in the world.
Amazing views! The colors are so crisp and sharp, it almost doesn't look real. Kinda like a set from a movie...it's so stunning there. Great video work. Really enjoyed this video, looking forward to seeing more. Thanks for "taking" us with you.

Did he know it was a glacier lake when he jumped in? Talk about brave that water is cooooold! Im glad you had a great time, south canterbury is really beautiful and a lovely place to live.
This brings back great memories! NZ really knocked my socks off. I have never experienced such clean air, clean water, ruggedly beautiful landscapes and open (people-free) spaces as I did there. Hope you enjoy your time in NZ :)

I can't imagine that the people living there have a ton of stress living amongst all that beauty:) I just love how fun you and Michael are together--he was such a sport, taking the dare to jump in the lake and you're cute remark about not having having a bikini...love it!!
The scenery look so fimilar, my family and I just had a tour around south island in New Zealnd. Its absolutely stunning. I love Queenstown the most. Everyone should come here visit NZ.

Told you it was beautiful :) Understatement of the year. Christine, I hope you are going to Milford Sound. It really is the most stunningly beautiful place to see. We saw it after 3 inches of rain and it was magnificent. Haven't visited the North Island yet, so that's on the to do list :) Have fun. P.S. we found the people are lovely as well.

Also, the drive to Milford has spots to stop at that are purely magical. There is one spot as you go up that looks like an elven forest, with everything covered in emerald green moss and lichen, which opens out to a cold, windswept but beautiful lake Can't remember the name sorry, but it is a rest stop on the left heading to Milford.
I've been the south island twice before but forgotten how beautiful it is. To me it's a real mix of Scotland and Alaska with better weather thrown in :-).

I was wondering how long it took you guys to travel from Christchurch to Queenstown? My friend and i are doing campervan trip, same stops as you guys but on a very short frame... it would be very helpful if I can get a reply from someone!! thanks x
South Island has the best scenery in my humble opinion :D (Yes, I'm a proud Kiwi) And to answer someone below, no there isn't a bridge between the Islands lol..you take the ferry (cars go in the hold) And in response to someone else (seriously, I hate Google+) New Zealand has a small population, but is about the size of England (in land mass) Our population is a little over 4 million. That's what makes it such a unique country, so MUCH open space and untouched land. Middle Earth is God's own :)
I was literally about to say the same thing. You are so lucky to be a Kiwi :-). I wish I was. This is def on my bucket list. Do you ever just get really overwhelmed with emotion when you see such beautiful scenery? I do :-).
MckinneyMini I absolutely do, and I never take living here for granted. We are very very blessed. Not only do we have a beautiful, clean country, we have a first class health system that is fully funded and that IS something to be bloody grateful for. And when you do finally get here, you'll take away a piece of New Zealand in your heart :)

Is new zealand warm or cold i wanne make a trip there and is there more city or more wildernis?
Depends what part you go too, North Island is warmer than the south generally...NZ has a little population, only 4.5 million so it's very uncrowded.
