Hello! I’m Shoyan.
I have been working as a carpenter in Japan for 50 years and am a licensed architect and technician.
I would like to share my work, knowledge, etc., regarding Japanese carpentry.
I hope you enjoy my videos!

Every one of your videos shows master craftsmanship that defy words and I can't get enough!
As always Sir, your work is impeccable.
Yes! Another Shoyan banger
My biggest regret from watching these videos is I haven't been able to find much readily accessible Cedar/Cypress wood available in the US. I would love to use it in similar locations that he has shown.
Thank you from Long Beach, California USA
The diamond shaped plugs are a nice detail!
Your videos are always a treat ❤❤❤
Wonderful work. This will be nice kitchen.
I really like the cordless Makita tapping hammer. 😂
The kitchen is going to look beautiful when finished! Your attention to the smallest detail is wonderful to watch! Thank you Shoyan san.
I am not a carpenter and will never build anything close to what you do. I watch your videos because I appreciate good craftsmanship.
Excellent work as always Shoyan
Excellent as always! Fridays are much better now!!
From what it was to what is become, the transformation has been inexplicably good 😮
Maestro!
You make it look so easy.
That looks really nice. Great job.

I so look forward to a new video by you. Such a pleasure to watch.
Such a pleasure to watch you at work, excellent as always. Thank you for sharing.
Love your videos
Excellent as usual Shoyan, thanks for the video.👍👍
I am so impressed with your craftsmanship. If I hit the lottery, I'd want you to build me a Japanese style house!
Shoyan… The Zen Master of Carpentry!
🙏🏼👍😎

These videos are wonderful! Would it be possible to add an original Japanese audio track as well?
In my younger years I would of loved to work along side with someone like yourself. Definitely would of been alot less trial and error 😊 .. Need any help? I am open to work 😁
👍👍👍👍👍
Can anyone explain why he creates divots at 7:56?
I presume it is to help the glue work better, but I don't understand why it would help.
I build two house in Sweden, in Sweden building small house with wood is normal , I find that wood house can not accumulate energy. During summer hot during day and when sun goes down it get cold very fast . Over that it has no sounds proof, it like 🥁 🪘 when some one walking 🚶♀️ 🤔 🙄 😒.
It take a lot of maintenence, wood nerver stand all weather climate.
That is why I will never building with wood , I prefer concrete construction with granite stone fasad , last for ever with minimal maintenance . That is why Egyptian pyramid is there .😊
On the other hand, in Canada we build almost always with wood, but with thick, highly insulated walls. It is true that we don’t have as much thermal mass, but at -30 C, the insulation is critical.
