One of the dopest musicians and teachers online bro I appreciate you man. You not just teaching the basics but your teaching the real stuff man thanks !
Hey Sean-didn’t even realize they had a Christmas album come out, perfect time for this lesson! Question for you-I’m working on developing a gospel piano movement built around a 1, 4, 6, 4 progression in 6/8 where transitional chords are added to create a smooth, cyclical feel that doesn’t sound repetitive and actually builds. Do you have any songs, tutorials, or examples that demonstrate this type of progression or approach? I’d love to hear your recommendations or see how you approach this concept. Thanks so much for your time and expertise and the value that you add to the music community!
Don't mind if I steal the rootless vi-ii move at the 14:52 mark. I was falling asleep listening to this video when I heard it, and I had to go practice it on my keyboard
Amazing breakdown this is one of my favorite songs! Also bro please turn on your "Likes" on your videos, it says "disabled by owner" when viewing your like count. But if you turn on the ability for the "likes" to show it will boost your engagement and the algorithm on your videos a ton! God bless.
Can you make a video trying to talk about how many hours it will taek you to become a professional. I say 3000 hours(All things done well and being equal)
@ThaRealLEGEND i wish this was true, you definitely get good but not great or master. The type who is consistent enough to put in an hour min a day will also likely will end up putting and way more and getting real good that first year
The length depends on the level of your comprehension . If you have the ability to comprehend fast you won’t require much time .. That’s why it’s good to work on your foundation…
@jaywow6973 But the reharm sounds diffrent, how gospel approaches melodies. Not that I dont agree with your view, but it would be nice to find it all in one place.

With your voicings, do you play the bass note when you play with a bass player?
Nope
Can you make a video trying to talk about how many hours it will taek you to become a professional. I say 3000 hours(All things done well and being equal)
3000 hours is almost 2 years of playing piano like a full time job. That makes sense.
10000 hours to become an expert
They always say you can master anything by putting in an hour a day for a year
@ThaRealLEGEND i wish this was true, you definitely get good but not great or master.

Sean I’m your student here in png. I need your help please…
Intro and some parts of the song has some of the same progression as Andra’e Crouch (Let the church say Amen)
There is basic music theory and jazz theory, but why not gospel theory? There are so many techniques in gospel not in the other genres.
Gospel is so broad of a term I would argue that gospel music theory is jazz blues Neo soul depending on who is playing

Please do Silvers Bells - Clark Sisters - Family Christmas Album
