I think the material was good and it was well performed. But casting wise thats not the whole battle . It kills him to the Trump voice he doesn't look like trump. The casting decision should not be solely about the read is what I am saying.

When I first heard him a long time ago, my mom was watching him doing his Trump from another room so I didn't see, so I asked 'ugh what did the orange say this time' she had to explain to me it wasn't actually Trump that's how accurate his voice is.

James Austin Johnson’s Trump voice is extremely accurate. His impersonation is the best.
When I first heard him a long time ago, my mom was watching him doing his Trump from another room so I didn't see, so I asked 'ugh what did the orange say this time' she had to explain to me it wasn't actually Trump that's how accurate his voice is.
And he just keeps improving too. I wasn't sold on it at the beginning but if you compare now and his first time on SNL as Trump, there's such a huge improvement.
This is -one of- the best Cold Open’s in SNL history. At the moment, I can’t think of any others that top it. The entire sketch was great. The subject/character, the monologue/dialogue, the acting/excellent impersonation… James Austin Johnson knocked that outta the park! He (and co-writers) deserves an Emmy. ⚾️🏆
