- Lucy raced with guts and determination all day, and came close to getting that first Ironman World Championship. After getting passed late in the run by Sarah Crowley, she had to dig even deeper, and re-passed her again to get her third 2nd place finish in a row.

Amazing race! Lucy fought for this 2nd. Maybe more than she ever has. (You’d have to ask her). Watching her come back was powerful. Congrats to Lucy on a tremendous effort. Taking it out that fast, and watching her fight back was my favorite performance she has given to date. She’s a tough competitor, and she will be on top of that podium very soon. Lucy has the grit and fearlessness that it takes to become a legend. This performance proves it. Amazing effort. Stay hungry Lucy! This race is yours.

Her race with sarah was so underrated. Everybody were expecting a second ironwar this IMWC2019. That's an ironwar out there. Maybe because it was not a battle of 1st place or it didn't happen in mens.
Great athlete. I hope she will be fit next year and we will get a great battle with Daniela Ryf and Anne Haug. For several years she could only swim and now she was the leader of bike! Go one Lucy! Thanks Bob and your crew for all the wonderful interviews!

It's a tough one for Lucy because she is so strong on the swim and the bike. My only small criticism is that her cadence could be a bit higher but Jan looked to be grinding also yet he blew the course record away! Just shows you even for a full time pro improving something like running takes years.

let's be honest, 2nd place for Lucy is like finishing in last place. she didn't come to Kona to fight for the podium, she came to win. i think she realized her running is still far behind the top girls. but she sure does put on a happy face for the media and fans.
I agree but she also proved 2 major things to herself this year. She can beat Daniela(even if she had a tough day) and that she can fight back even in her worst moments. Getting that second wind to beat Sarah was pretty significant in my opinion. Tough day but she’ll be back and win

@casper3043. Shut up you imbecile. You clearly don’t know triathlon and especially Kona. No one is expected to be given or get the win. There are thousands of variables just in the race that can swing things and getting off the bike and hitting the run every athlete knows they have to wait and see how their legs are. Lucy didn’t have her best legs and worked through the cramps. That is insanely tough and hard to deal with heading into a marathon. It was an incredible race and your negative buklshit only proves you don’t know a fucking thing. Go back to your sofa Mr. armchair quarterback you failed again today. She has 2nd in Kona and you have nothing.
