- Battlefield V MG42 roleplaying as a German Machine Gunner is very fun, the MG42 just shreds! So much fun to play with this thing, but it is quite challenging! A new episode of Across the Battlefield, leave a LIKE and a comment, thanks for watching.
Historically the MG42 was one of the most feared weapons from the Allies in WW2. I’ve read that Allied soldiers would pick up and use MG42s when they could get their hands on them.

Using an enemies weapon is generally frowned upon, at least in the US military, for many reasons including ammo availability and doctrine of use but mostly friendly fire risk. Context matters of course, as its much more likely in a guerilla or partisan conflict than a large scale traditional war like most of WWII. I've read a couple accounts of US soldiers picking up STG44s (until they were told to ditch them by their COs) but ive never read of allied soldiers actually using MG42s in combat. Do you have sources for this claim? Id love to read up on it.

@James good Except that using an enemies firearms confuses the ever lucking fuck out of allies and not only puts yourself but those closest to you at risk of friendly fire, so a CO would definitely avoid their men using something like that.

BF1 had a problem with bipids and fixed it fairly quick if I remember. Hopefully theyll fix them on BFV. Tired of having to move around just to get it to sit nicely

I feel like dice put a ton of opticial illusions in the game design. Every map has multiple profiles that look just like a soilder then it turns out to be a tree stump or a head light of a jeep
They may have done that on purpose to create an idea of what might have been going through and anxious, battle worn soldier
The bipods are always broken because the game has to account for your proned body and the walls, if your body is near a wall and you prone, the game pushes you out of the wall.

We used the MG42 in the Danish army untill just a few years ago.
I used it back in 2012.
Been playing nothing but support just to get my hands on this lovely piece of machinery again.
Very satisfying..... Apart from the bipod problems.
PS. A Danish soldier in Afghanistan wielding this weapon on patrol would have just about 500 rounds for it. The weight of the ammo is immense with the belted 7.62.
Get a 4 man squad. All MG42's. Stay together and just hose everybody.

I love using the mg42 when squad leader, send the squad in to capture a flag while I sit back and spray any enemy moving in....agree with those saying the bipod issues are annoying

Well you have to all the others are bugged and wont line up allot of the time but this still feels the best anyhow.
Yea, Im kind of tired of seeing the best squad at the end of the game and they all have like the assault rifles, Smgs, and Lmg with large scopes on all of them. Idk maybe its just not aesthetically pleasing to me.
honestly the AA sight for the lmgs and mmgs are my favorite thing to use. i like the iron sights too
coopwydd yeah I’ve always preferred the AA sights. They’re like big scope style crosshairs but on iron sights if that makes sense.

No bugs with bipod. If you lie down then your feet push you away from the wall. Pretty realistic

I used the MG-34 yesterday and leveled it up to lvl 3 in like 4 matches, without upgrading it.
As it should be....one of the most feared guns in ww2

Any nerf would be the most retarded thing ever for the MMGs. The inability to fire accurately on the move or without deploying the bipod is already a built-in nerf.

Well here's an idea dice, since shift doesn't do anything for MGs when ADSed just make it so holding shift will cause you to "grab" near by terrain with the bipod. So as you approach and object you wish to bipod on just hold shift and when the game sees you're in range you deploy bipod and are stuck in bipod 'til you let go of shift. Also for console their equivalent would be left click (R3) so just have it as hold LC/R3 till bipod deployed than press LC/R3 again to leave bipod.
I'm absolutely in love with this beast, it just melts people.
No idea how you do it, Jack. I can get around 7 to 15 rounds out of my MG before *TINK*, then it's back to the deploy screen for me.
I shall continue to pray for a Battlefield game set in an alternate reality where no one thought of inventing sniper rifles.

I get a lot of kills with the MG42 but only because I know the maps now and I play Recon a lot. Map knowledge lets you know the likely routes the enemy will be coming through and playing Recon lets you know were all the good snipers spots are so you can avoid them. Not alot of maps right now so it's pretty easy to have map knowledge. If you see snipers glints, that means their pointing in your direction, just run and find another spot to deploy. Running with a squad that communicates will take your MG skills to another level.
Phillip Knuck that does happen but is pretty rare. I get killed more by snipers or assault players running around then I do by campers or people hiding.

I am designated by my squad to find MG’s specifically MG42 and sharpshoot then, they’re that destructive, nearly unstoppable.

There was a platoon using MMG's on Rotterdam Grand Op's. What a frightening experience as a hail of bullets came down the streets with comrades falling like trees in a hurricane.

@Ignacio Nemarich MG34 has a lower rate of fire but delivers longer sustained fire, more control and better ammo efficiency (per belt).
The movement is because you prone next to a wall and the game pushes you away so you aren't clipping into it, the bipods are fine, you just have to watch where you are
Yeah, I saw a youtuber complaining about the prone bipod sliding you forward or pushing you forward constantly. I never noticed till I got the MG42 and now with the MG playstyle its frequent and brutal. BF1 had such a smooth bipod system by the end in my opinion. I with that would get fixed quick as some assignments rely on that mechanic and it currently is unreliable.
This game amazing is just we need more maps not only 1 this December

The MG42 is a machine gun used by the German army when ww2 started and it was the most feard weapon because the rate of fire is crazy fast and it shredded people in a instant the nickname for the MG42 is Hitlers buzzsaw it was I believe Hitlers favorite gun idk I forgot but anyway the allies when they were pined down by the MG42 they would stay in cover and they only had 7 seconds to push up before they get mowed again the MG42 was operated by 2 people the gunner which is they guy who shoots the gun then there's the guy who holds the belt feed it was so feard that the allies wanted one themselves so they made the m60 during the Vietnam war and it was called the pig
The prone auto-crawl forwards you mentioned at 3:00 has got me killed SO many times. I'll set up in an ambush on a ledge or corner somewhere with the bipod, and then all of a sudden I'll get automatically pushed forwards enough that my head gets exposed and I get shot. Most of the time when it happens you also can't push back into cover without turning 90-180 degrees. So frustrating...

The Germans during World War II were some of the smartest and most technologically advanced of that time. Though the Germans didn't really know what was going on behind the curtains. I'm not sure if the High Ranks knew of it but I do know that the infantry and such weren't aware of it at the time.
It's not the bipod system it's how they did the prone system where if your feet are in the way of a wall or object it shoves you out of cover, so damn annoying but it's been like that since bf1 at least.

Not a prone bug, you have to have enough leg space, it pushes you forward or makes you stutter because you're crammed.

The MG42 is an absolute monster if you got the MMG play style down. Unfortunately, console players are at its recoils mercy. You can kinda control it, but it can be really hard sometimes to get those 'above 50 meter' kills. Especially the snipers. They are the bane of an MMG players life.
