Imagine waiting to see if you were a widow or an orphan, after 3 years, you might have given up hope... The movie Master & Commander ( based on Patrick O'Brian books) was probably the best visual window we have of the Royal Navy. The ship used in the movie is docked at a museum in San Diego, CA so I was pretty excited to tour it a few years ago. They have some of the movie costumes.
@@DM-lc2cf Back then, three years was a much larger percentage of the average lifespan. We watched M&C a few years ago - maybe should give it another go.
